Who's he fallen out with now? This manager cant get on with any of his wingers.
Only solution, play a 4,2,2,2.

That's is going forward for sure. That’s exactly what this is though. It’s very complicated and will take years to unravel. There is no quick fix, there is only doing things properly and if that takes time so be it.
Start over time and time again only knots up the situation more!
The “individual errors” argument is basically nonsensical. If we took that stance for every situation, there would never be a managerial sacking. Holistically, managers have to be judged on results and performances.I don’t understand this point, how has he made the team a mess? I don’t think playing AWB at LB is his ideal solution. I don’t think he would willingly play 27 different back 4 combinations. I don’t think he has forced all the individual errors we’ve seen across the team. I think what he has done however is patch up and battle on as best he can through a terrible season.
He has also found a way to get the best from periphery squad players like McT, he’s bought in youth like Mainoo and Garnacho. It’s not all bad - but there is no balance to the arguement now.
Six years minimum are needed, and then ETH transforms into SAF.Hypothetically
if ETH was given another year and played the same tactic but added all the players he thinks he needs in all the positions he thinks he needs cover in
and the result is still huge holes in midfield, players looking like they don’t know each other, and continuing injuries during training..
would those backing him now change their minds or do they need another year?
Id have ole second to SAF. I feel like under him we played the best football until that last season when they tried change the style and had Ronaldo hobbling around like an OAPWe should have a toxic rating.
1 (SAF) yah we're the best ya know
4 (LVG) football is terrible, boring but we're winning (ish)
5 (Moyes) this guy hasn't got a clue, but then boss said give him time
6 (Jose) he's the best there is, but he's not United - blame blame blame
8 (Ole) You're not a real fan, Ya I AM!
10 ......
Are we at 10?
That's just nonsense.Injuries, yes, but last game Ten Hag were 2 players short of starting with his seemingly preferred 11. We've seen so many times in football that a change of manager can do hell lot of good - at least in the short run - and a short run is all we've got left of the season anyway. And to categorically say that "we won't win Palace away" is just silly.
Really appreciate the amount of patience you put into this - I have nothing against the fellow you're responding to, but this is a great post.
Q though - is the bolded part true? I've not seen that said officially anywhere. If it has, that would be brilliant as it's what the club has been crying for
Don't worry, eras come to an end.If we had only sacked this fraud weeks ago, we might have got a new manager bounce and been in the race for a champions league spot.
Hardly surprising. Even David Moyes is a few points behind us and West Ham fans have still had enough of him.Don't look now but "in disarray" Chelsea are 3 points back of Ten Hag's United with 1 game in hand and 7 goals better goal difference. They're also just 3 points back of 6th.
Usually it is down to six for EL, then seventh gets ECL. Depends who wins the F.A. Cup as that qualifies you for EL. Suppose it could drop down the table if we got the 5th CL place.I am interested to know at which position we would be able to avoid Europa and conference league? Assuming PL gets 5 teams in champions league.
Believe it or not, Chelsea are probably going to be fine. They've signed young players who were all on the radars of bigger more organised clubs and they're improving month on month. It's almost like the manager is coaching them to play a certain way, he's playing to their strengths and he's improving them. All bit of a foreign concept for us.Any of you watching Chelsea? They’ve been seen as a laughing stock most of the season, but they’re starting gel now and are playing good, fluid football in bursts - they’re working and getting better as the season goes by…
I don't think I've read a post from you that wasn't the general consensus and/or some kneejerk reactionary nonsense after a bad result or a player hitting bad form.Hardly surprising. Even David Moyes is a few points behind us and West Ham fans have still had enough of him.
Whats it even matter anymore. Everyone knows Ten Hag is shit and needs sacking, even those weirdos who pretend otherwise because they get off on being contrary. It's just a matter of time
What? Preferred 11 out of the current squad, not out of all footballers in the world. Change Shaw for Bissaka and Martinez for Kambwala, then I think you are pretty close to Hag's starting 11 when everyone fit. That's just nonsense.
That starting 11 had 3 teenagers promoted from the youth system, 2 of them he brought up. 5 players who were already at the club when he joined (we know he tried to get rid of at least 1 of them) and 3 of his own signings.
What 2 players were missing?
Yeah the squad is not great but it is better than a lot of teams that have completely outplayed us this season. It's funny that under Jose, Ole and now ETH, it's always been the players fault. Like, the 3 of these were absolutely woeful to varying degrees, but yeah, the players.
Now, I don't rate this squad for the most part, but ETH should be doing so much better. This season has been an absolute embarrassment.
Knocked out of a piss poor CL group, 7th in the league with a minus 1 GD after 32 games, 241 shots conceded in the last ten games (must be a PL record). Add to this the fact that we've massively regressed and the football is an utter shambles. It's been an absolute nightmare of a season.Yeah the squad is not great but it is better than a lot of teams that have completely outplayed us this season.
Please! It’s depressing!Any of you watching Chelsea? They’ve been seen as a laughing stock most of the season, but they’re starting gel now and are playing good, fluid football in bursts - they’re working and getting better as the season goes by…
That’s the thing. I’d give Hag the benefit of the doubt if I saw anything just haven’t though.Any of you watching Chelsea? Generally our supporters will accept that this finish to the season is unacceptable. But why make the mistakes of the past and let non-football suits make the call on the next manager. Might as well let this season crater out and let the new structure come in and make the call on the next manager.Moyes two points behind us after winning a European trophy and fans want him out.
What has happened to our club and how do we make it stop?
He should have been removed for an interim as a point of principal. It’s been absolutely horrendous. How he is still here is, in itself, an issue.Generally our supporters will accept that this finish to the season is unacceptable. That's why I have been asking for months. With a "new manager" bounce, we might get 5th and qualifying for Champion League but United being United thinks it is better to stick with him until the summer. The new guy doesn't have to be a full time appointed, it could one of the assistant coaches or managers who is currently out of a job e.g. Jose or even Potter. Just a 3-4 months contract with a handsome pay off based on where we finish in the table. Is it really that hard? If Potter is really that good, we can move him to a permanent role. Come on, they are out of job for a while now, I suppose they would be interested. If we had only sacked this fraud weeks ago, we might have got a new manager bounce and been in the race for a champions league spot.
Exactly. It's weird and just a bit childish those still desperately standing by him, because I just don't see how anyone can at this point. He's failed. That’s the thing. I’d give Hag the benefit of the doubt if I saw anything just haven’t though.
Yes, and all that after spending 400 million in two summers! It is hard to find a manager that has failed so badly in all fronts, after spending so much. And he spent all that money on players he had managed before, players he knew personally, which means that he doesn't even understand the abilities and the limitations of his own players!Knocked out of a piss poor CL group, 7th in the league with a minus 1 GD after 32 games, 241 shots conceded in the last ten games (must be a PL record). But who makes the call on the interim? Murtough who hired rangnick and ten Hag? Sir Jim? Brailsford? Do you not see the problem in just sacking him now even with the poor results? He should have been removed for an interim as a point of principal. It’s been absolutely horrendous. How he is still here is, in itself, an issue.
SJR and his crew clearly can make the call and it doesn’t have to be some masterstroke interim. Just anyone new to be a placeholder. There isn’t any real reason to keep him until the end of the year. But who makes the call on the interim? Murtough who hired rangnick and ten Hag? Sir Jim? Brailsford? Thanks a bunch. Unsure how I've missed that, but so good to see!As promised, replying with the exact quotes. SJR said in an interview:
"We are probably still debating what precisely is the style of football we want to play. If you look at Manchester City, they know precisely what the style of football is they want to play and all 11 teams at the club play the same formula. We need to do that, but I think in terms of the nature of the players, you want Manchester United types of players....attacking football, exciting football, bringing the youth through. [.......] We'll decide that style, plus the CEO, sporting director, probably the recruitment guys, what the style of football is and that will be the Manchester United style of football, and the coach will have to play that style. We're not going to oscillate from a Mourinho style to Guardiola style. That's not the way we'll run the club. Otherwise you're changing everything all the time, you change your coach, you've got the wrong squad. We won't do that. In modern football you need to decide what's your path and stick to your path."
Like the poster above said, it’s an easy move and probably would have gotten us Europe and much brighter feeling at the club ahead of the summer. As it is, we are in a terrible position that could have been avoided. But who makes the call on the interim? Murtough who hired rangnick and ten Hag? Sir Jim? Brailsford? I fear Nagelsmann will be going back to Bayern as unfortunately they realise their mistake. Guess I will have to find another manager train to jump on but not Potter that's for sure. Yeah really hope they don't make everything ultra British. We need to see solid links to people outside of the UK, well other than Berrada of course.I quite like Nagelsmann too. I feel like he's not rated as highly by INEOS though, could be wrong.
My worry with INEOS and Ashworth is they go ultra British, hopefully they won't.
Question what happened to the last interim?SJR and his crew clearly can make the call and it doesn’t have to be some masterstroke interim. Just anyone new to be a placeholder. There isn’t any real reason to keep him until the end of the year.
That was the thought with Rangnick, how did that turn out?Like the poster above said, it’s an easy move and probably would have gotten us Europe and much brighter feeling at the club ahead of the summer. As it is, we are in a terrible position that could have been avoided.
