Words cannot begin to describe this post.

This vote does not mark the beginning of an independent UK, it marks the end of a United Kingdom full stop. Scotland, NI, arguably London all have cause to consider options.

As a Scot, words cannot begin to describe how disappointed I am with this. It's a complete misrepresentation of what we want and it will result in only one thing - another referendum.
Welcome back in. Just make sure you demand a democratic, non-corrupt and constrained EU before you sign up and don't bring any big harmful parasites we call the City of London.

Nigel Farage, the Ukip leader, has told ITV’s Good Morning Britain that he thought it was a mistake for the Vote Leave campaign to say that it could save £350m a week by leaving the EU and that the money could go to the NHS.

I feel wronged on your behalf and the need to apologise even though it's the rest of my fecking countrymen who've dragged you into this.

The disconnect between yourself and England couldn't be more obvious. Although it's a bitter pill to swallow, I hope Scottish people quickly develop a positive mindset and make the necessary steps to distance themselves from England. They've forced it onto you, so just embrace it and make the situation a good one.

I voted no in 2014 but this is enough to make me consider that again - and Sturgeon knows this applies to many. She'll call for it as soon as possible. I know the economy argument still applies but this is a seismic shift of the goalposts so it's a valid case to hear.

I work in investments so today going to be horrific. Pound through the floor and huge uncertainty over the future.

Welcome to a broken UK.

It's not even worth it.

If the pound getting pummelled to a 30 year low within hours of the result isn't enough for people to go 'oh, shit, maybe they weren't completely lying about the economy' nothing will.

And so the backpedaling begins... I'm certain plenty of politicians hopping on the leave bandwagon to gain some publicity are now shitting themselves at actually having won and having to go through with it.

Because we aren't losing our biggest trading partner, we will continue to trade with them, like any other country outside the EU. We had the same alarmist scare mongering when Britain decided against signing the schengen agreement, the same when Britain opted out of the EU charter of fundamental rights. Business will not be hurriedly leaving our borders because we voted Leave, there are ample reasons why multinationals base their headquarters in London, it's why London is regularly voted as the best city in the world for business, culture and innovation, with the vast majority of its closest competitors coming from outside of the EU. There will be a period of resettlement, but the EU aren't going to cut off their nose just to spite their face just to make an example out of Britain. If that is their attitude then why would we want to be associated with an organisation that holds personal pride over the interests of its members?

It's not racist to want tighter border controls, in fact, lumping all the Leavers together as racists is no different than the generalisation you're claiming they hold about immigrants. For many, like me, this was a secondary issue when deciding my vote.

Oh, they will do exactly that if it means preventing losing the whole head.

This is not a matter of pride here, it is a matter of self-preservation.

People argued that the EU won´t take a hard stance in the upcoming trade negotiations because the countries won´t do something against their own economica interests, but at least when it comes to the major players of the EU their biggest interest, both in the political and economical sense, is to keep the remaining EU intact. This means keeping their own EU sceptic parties at bay and discourage any EU member following the same path the UK just chose.

If they let off UK easily in the trade talks, this will start a chain reaction of other countries leaving the Union which might put the whole thing at risk. And that is at least from a German perspective a very dangerous thought, as we are both the biggest contributor and profiteur of the whole thing.

The prime interest of the EU is now to keep the stability it still has and the UK has turned itself now into a powder keg. This is not only about economics anymore (and even here the power scale is clearly tipped in the direction of the EU).

For Scottish independence?

I think that would be a good thing for both countries.

Why? Scotland voted in its majority to stay in a United Kingdom. We're now in a corner where we will have to consider position again. To be honest, England now need to worry about London. We have a case for areas of densely populated areas of England are out of kilter wih the capital.

Farage now saying his NHS promise was "a mistake". The truth will set you free.

No idea what will happen now but what I do know is that David Cameron is a stupid twat who doesn't actually give a shit about this country.

I feel wronged on your behalf and the need to apologise even though it's the rest of my fecking countrymen who've dragged you into this.

It's so disappointing mate. I mean no disrespect to anyone voting leave but as far as I'm concerned it's borne out of complete naivety.

Correct. As I said above, I work for one of the big firms. Today going to be a disaster.

For all you sneering remain voters - if you're so smart, why didn't you see this coming?

I've been predicting a Brexit for years, and not out of wishful thinking. I used to be massively in favour of EU membership, but even then I knew the weight of feeling was such that there would eventually have to be a referendum and that a Brexit was inevitable. Rednev, right as always.

Relax. It will recover.

I can't actually believe that leave has won but somehow I had a fear they might. Unfortunately it's the racist and unitelligent that have put the whole country at risk and for what! To make Britain 'great' again what a load of absolute shite. Just a completely and utterly ridiculous decision and now w will have to suffer the next few years while those idiots don't even have a clue what they have done.

Stop saying racist.

People from all minorities voted leave, so strange people keep playing the race card.

I can't believe I've woke up to this. I'm genuinely worried now.
Same here. I can't believe how many gullible morons there are in the U.k. They e fallen hook line and centre for a campaign of right-wing flag waving and voted a stable future away. I see the pound is already fecked

Wait...for someone who didnt follow up anything related with pre referendum period. Can someone tell me was there even anything resembled as plan presented by those pushing for leave? Or is it full free fall mode and all will find out where they are after landing? Guess they presented their reasons for leaving but shouldnt be there any pack of actions if their options wins at the end.

The plan was to leave the EU. That's it.

Xenophobia may be more accurate. Minorities that are British citizens voted leave, there's an overwhelming message that we don't want more people coming in.

That's one theory but it isn't quite as easy as that. Restricting your own members from trading with the UK, a highly profitable trading partner is hardly going to endear Euro skeptics to its cause is it? You'll be adding fuel to the fire and if anything, that'll destabilise the EU further.

I was up until 3am so I knew this was likely. Absolutely sucks to see it confirmed.

Nope.

It won't be sold like that by the major European partier or their press. It'll be sold as "Do we really want to leave and end up like Britain?", the same way Greece was sold to the UK public as having gone to shit solely because of the EU.
