Why on earth did they wait for him to lose 5 seconds and then pit him? Hamilton was on around 7 seconds, and when he entered the pits he was one second behind.

Merc can look at all the data on the hard tyre and have both options of a 1 and 2 stop available. They’re in a strong tactical position.
Merc one stop is very possible, the hards seem to be working well for Alonso
Pace on the hard tyres looking decent, Norris and Alonso posting 16.6-16.7 lap times
