I can't remember ever seeing red flags in the 90s and 00s, but now it's virtually every wet race. Crap drivers? Just lap them under the safety car. Do we really need to treat F1 drivers like they're toddlers who are incapable of being responsible for their own speed under double yellows and the safety car?

Would you call a red flag if cars went off on slicks and it was inters condition...

They should say why the red flag, I can understand if it's for Zhou and the Marshall's safety as they don't want anything aquaplaning into him

They should definitely restart the race ffs

They had to red flag because of Zhou's car being stuck in barrier at turn 1. Even on inters under VSC no guarentee that one of the drivers didnt go straight into zhou at turn 1.

Issue is the cars are so low now, 10mm off the ground that it doesnt take much to make them aquaplane. The cars were never this low in the past.

Now, if you werent allowed to change tyres under a red flag, both RBs would be fecked at the restart.
No they wouldn’t. This restart will be on full wets behind safety car.

might even be a procession to the end

Not really. It is primarily because of the extremely low ride height as a result of the revised downforce.

Yep, rain is the only time we get excitement, this was really building and now we may not even restart

They always go to a red flag when a barrier is dislodged by a car. They will not restart until the barrier is back in place to make the drivers safe if the hit it in the same place. They might not restart until the heavy rain has stopped though.

Enough of this rubbish. Drivers should be adults and they should take responsibility for their own driving. They will not aquaplane off if they slow down - they've got excellent tyres. Red flags for this is a total nonsense.

Surely instead of changing the regulations for "equality" they first need to revise them so they can actually race in the rain like we saw in the 90s

Please don't restart behind the SC

Yes, you are right. They should just take responsibility and die like men. Brilliant.

What are they waiting for?! Going to hit the next pocket of rain soon

Give us a standing start! Send the SC round for a bit like they used to to get rid of some of the water

Rain stopped, so they will do 5 laps of SC wasting time, and resume just before it restarts then another red after 2 laps.

Just started watching again, been listening on radio,
Was the rain that bad, bad enough for the red flag ?
Most weren’t even on full wets. There was a car in the barrier at a corner where a few drivers had gone straight on. I can only assume they wanted to clear that without the risk.

I don't disagree with the red flag. It's a shame teams aren't punished for putting on inters when it was obviously full wet conditions.

Let's go for god sake. 1 safety car lap is enough
