"This has to be one of the most bizarre, shambolic, entertaining first halves I've ever seen, but thoroughly entertaining" - Robbie Savage.
Ronaldo and Balotelli literally do it all the time!Has been the case since 2010. Some players still do it though.
...a communist, but he is not a pornstar!"This has to be one of the most bizarre, shambolic, entertaining first halves I've ever seen, but thoroughly entertaining" - Robbie Savage.
As part of the trial they're apparently using it all the time to be sure. Was the case in Liverpool v West Brom too.VAR is a joke in its current state. Firstly it was stated in the rules that it's supposed to overrule clear errors. Why is it being used in every single case then?
You can't stop start your run up but you can slow it down. It just has to be one movement.Ronaldo and Balotelli literally do it all the time!
not so if taker is considered to be totally cheaty & unsporting - he gets booked too,Question regarding the penalty, should the kick not be retaken and not disallowed?
The laws of the game explain the penalty issue as:
"A player who deliberately stops at the end of their run and then feints to gain an advantage is deliberately breaking the Law. This is an act of deliberate unsporting behaviour so, as well as the caution (YC), the player does not deserve to have a second chance to score. This stronger punishment should deter an offence which is sometimes difficult to detect."
I'd have to see it again, but I must admit I thought he paused mid-runup not at the end. Maybe that's why the ref asked for the VAR.

Is it? The first decision was debatable. The resulting decisions have been spot on.Shambolic refereeing, it's almost worth watching to see what VAR will give us next
He came to a complete stop. Good decision IMOThe laws of the game explain the penalty issue as:

Disallowed because he stopped his run.Question regarding the penalty, should the kick not be retaken and not disallowed?
It still doesn't look like "the end" of their run to me, but as I say, I guess that's why the VAR was requested. One for the refs to interpret.
He was close enough after the pause to kick the ball near enough. Goalkeeper edged to his right so Son kicked to the goalkeeper's left.
If they did like rugby where you can here the refs talking to each other, then it would be better. This VAR system is a joke.nobody knows what’s going on with it.if it does come in permanent screens will need to come in across all grounds so supporters realize what is going on.
They have been spot on apart from the penalty decision really. the downside is the time it takes to check for a decision, they should find a way to make the process more fluid. Is it? The first decision was debatable. The resulting decisions have been spot on.
It's the length of time to make a decision that's the massive issue. If a clear decision to overturn hasn't been made in 30 seconds then the original decision should stand. They have been spot on apart from the penalty decision really. the downside is the time it takes to check for a decision, they should find a way to make the process more fluid.
Well, that's why they are trialing I suppose. Expect it would be much faster when fully implemented. They have been spot on apart from the penalty decision really. the downside is the time it takes to check for a decision, they should find a way to make the process more fluid.
Balotelli doesn't make a complete stop in his runups. There's a difference. He slows down a split second before he kicks to see where the goalkeeper moves before going the other side. Son made a complete stop and then took his shot. Pogba also had one disallowed in a youth game back in 2011 vs Liverpool at Anfield for the same reason. When Ronaldo used to do it I believe the rules hadn't been changed yet.Ronaldo and Balotelli literally do it all the time!
Nobody fouled anybody - its an utterly shambolic decision.I am confused about the disallowed goal. Who fouled whom here?
They also said it takes the emotion out of the game. Not sure about that either.I thought VAR was to help cut down on the talking points in the game? It is creating more.
