Can we keep him on as a specialist chesting-technique coach? Lukaku could then maybe
put some of that excess bulk to good use.
Afraid he won’t be of any use. His muscles are too solid and it will be the equivalent of controlling the ball with a concrete wall.

In summer, yes.
In this window, not necessary at all.

Fellaini or Rojo can't be "culled" if they choose not to. They have contracts. Unlike Jones, Valencia and Darmian
Nobody would even notice if Rojo and Darmian had their contracts terminated. How many games have they started in the EPL this season.

We truly have some terrible defenders for a top tier side....rojo, darmian , Valencia, Jones. It's shocking

Glad we are getting rid of Fellaini. I think we will finally get the clear out thats been years overdue.

I don’t know why we are in such a rush to get rid of him. He may not be starting XI quality, but for sure he is a good squad option for any top team.

He offers a lot more than McTominnay, Pereira and Fred at the moment.
If he does leave this window it would most likely be because he's a negative influence in the dressing room. No other reason to sell players under a caretaker manager.

The first three I'll give you, Jones is still only 26 and won titles. We could do a lot worse for a backup CB.

It amazes me that some people still haven’t forgiven Rooney for his contract issues despite becoming our record goal scorer and given us menories that will last a lifetime and yet Fellaini openly made a spectacle about his contract in the summer but we’re supposed to be nice to him because he tries his best and scored 5 game winning goals in the 6 years that he’s been here.

He’s lucky that we appointed 3 dinosaurs post Sir Alex or else he wouldn’t be here. I’m not saying he’s an awful player but what he is good at is everything that goes against how United are supposed to play. Plan B for us was throwing on another striker, moving a winger to full back to bring on another winger. It was never lumping the ball up to a target man. Chicharito and Fellaini were here for roughly the same time period. Look at the difference in the goals scored off the bench and tell me which ones are effective plan b.
This is it in a nutshell, i remember games where we had all our strikers in there and we were throwing the kitchen sink at the opponent. Sometimes we had our defenders staying further to cause chaos but never have we had a plan B similar to Fellaini's lump it to the big man!! And guess what it worked a treat as it defined the club as the kings of comebacks!!

We could also do a lot better, like someone who is reliable and can stay fit for a start.

Any idea how much a title winning CB who's willing to play back up would cost us? Jones can* also play RB or DM in a pinch. We should invest in a world class CB and not worry about the Jones situation for another couple of years.

Tunazebe,Bailly, Smalling can be the back ups next season. We dont need even more. Lindelof and sign a top class CB and we are good to go. Overloaded with average players in defence,

Who are you selling him to for £30m ? Over 30, average wages for a United player but very high for a team outside the top 6 in England, or the top 2 in other leagues.

The number of clubs across the world that pay fees of £30m is limited and when they do so, it is for glamour signings. Most of them already have better players than Fellaini. Clubs that pay high wages, such as some of the Chinese teams, have filled their 3 foreign player slots.

In the summer we might find a club willing to pay £10m for him. I rather suspect most of the interested clubs will want us to contribute towards his wages. Will all depend where he wants to go.

We would be lucky to get 15/18 Million for Fellaini. Maybe some of the Turkish clubs. But why not use him in a swap deal for someone we need.

That would be a valid reason, but until now there have been no talk or rumors about that.

I think maybe he wants to get playing time, and Ole has completely erased him from the team until now.

Or maybe they are all shit rumors that usually come and go in the transfer seasons.

It is the right decision to move him on, and £15m seems about right to me.

I sympathize a little bit with Fellaini, though. He was never good enough, but that's not his fault and I don't think you could ever question his effort. He has even provided us a few important goals and some good moments. However, there is also a lot of shit moments, and right or not he became the symbol of the hoof-ball tactics under Mourinho.

Bottom line, I don't think he is nearly as big a failure as some United fans make him out to be, but he (hopefully) does not fit into our playing still going forward. He is also 31 years old. Time to cash in, if possible.

We need to carry on in same way same set up in play style, and that's why he will need to go, we need a player in there of same quality as Pogba or Herrera?
Free up funds and go for Brooks ?

I wouldn't be surprised

Tweet he put out to announce his contract extension was very much about him and Mourinho.

I hope he stays until we a replacement. He has more impact than eg: Andreas. I can see why people dont like him as a player, but the treathment he has gotten from fans is just baffling. He has dont nothing wrong at the club and yet people call him names and even lies about his salary. I've read people saying he his one of the best paid players at the club just so the arguements can fit their narritive. And its all lies and people buys into it.

He even got booed at OT once, and for what reason? He's shit? We fans are a bunch of tards sometimes.

We're "tards" for tolerating mediocre players like Fellaini for so many years.

It's deeply unfair to blame recent failings on this one man. However it would be a fitting moment for him to leave the club.

Part of me wants to cheer him going, but again that is unfair.

He deserves to go somewhere where he can wind down his career and win new friends.

He's worked hard for the club but he'll never be loved here.

Not true, he's been good while Smalling has been out.
It is true though just because he happens to be fit this time Smalling is out doesn't make him reliable. He's had plenty of injuries over the last 7 years, and missed plenty of games when other defenders were injured, look at how many times we've had to play midfielders in defence over the years.

Given Ole seems to have settled on Matic and Herrera as our midfielders I'm surprised he doesn't see Fellaini as decent backup to them. He had some good games at DM du ring Moanihos time here. I think he's a decent squad man. Unless the player himself wants to leave for regular football?

He was never good enough for a top club, never a fit for the type of football Manchester United fans generally want, never a proper fit for any particular position here, will forever be associated with caveman football and will forever be associated with a succession of post-SAF managerial failures.

He tried his best within that but really that's not enough to stop me being content to see him go. He didn't do anything wrong and can certainly be very pleased with his career, it's just that Manchester United shouldn't have been a part of it.

It will when discussing anything with you it seems. I hope you manage it through and you'll be alright when eventually Lingard finds his place on the bench and one day moves down his level to Watford or something. Now have a good day and don't follow me around will you? No hard feelings also.
Great stuff. Probably off to the Jesse Lingard thread to carry on with your 'criticism'. Must be 139 by now.

United have always had "medicore" players in the squad. We've never been a a galactico side. I doubt anyone is claiming Fellaini should be first choice, but he's a great backup-player. He offers more than Andreas, Mctominay even Fred. Yet, he's the one everyone hates. He doesnt have flair so he's shit

Jones is the easiest CB to get rid of as his contract is done after this season. He needs to go for that simple reason. I'm assuming we're buying a CB this summer and Tuanzebe will be back from his loan.

Congrats on Fellaini being more reliable than Andreas and McTominay. How much are Andreas and McTominay on again? And how old are they? We should be looking to bring in another CM and getting rid of some of the deadwood. McTominay should go on loan and Andreas is out of contract this summer.

Fellaini is terrible in the midfield and would be an awful DM, he is slow, cannot tackle, his defensive positioning is terrible and his range of passing is extremely limited. You are seriously surprised that ole doesn't see Fellaini as a decent defensive midfield backup?

Cmon man get serious.

Bearing in mind he could have arranged a free transfer last summer, and there weren't any takers, im not sure who is going to want to buy him now?
