He's visibly lost some pace, but he's still very productive and would suit our team, and we could play Rashford or the other 9 we have and use him off the bench against extremely high lines if we had to in the occasional big game. You still need a really good #9 (and a winger) to come off the bench to win things. He’s never had a serious injury, was a relatively late developer, doesn’t rely on pace, has the motivation of the premier league top scorers record and will be chasing trophies at a new club. His game is also incredibly efficient. It would be a huge surprise to me if he was declining by 32. Players of similar style like Ibra or Sheringham tend to have the longest careers.
Would I hand Spurs 50M for him this summer? No. But on a free in 2024 on a 3 year deal like Eriksen got, just at higher money? Absolutely. Does mean we'd have to sell Martial in 2024 (with one year to go on his deal after we trigger his final year extension) if we buy a striker next month or in the summer, but that's probably okay. If he's mostly healthy until then, can probably eke 20M or so from him out of some Serie A or Ligue 1 club that isn't Juve or PSG but is in the CL.
