How much trouble are Liverpool in?

Fortunately Utd played them at the right time. Unfortunately expect It’ll be normal service resumed when they get their players back.

This will be my favourite thread of the weekend if Bournemouth beat the Scousers tonight. All the Scouse will go hiding in their burrows and I will rule the thread

Guys, they lost out on the PL by 1 point in the most competitive era of the competition, lost a CL final where they could've easily won as well and won the 2 domestic cups. I don't like them either, but they aren't gonna become shit overnight. Most of their key players are over 30 by now, but this season is too soon for their downfall imo.

I think it'll start crumbling by 2024, though. Hopefully Klopp fecks off and rebuilds another team in another country.

In Klopp’s seventh season with Dortmund they flirted with the relegation places before they eventually clawed their way back to a seventh place finish. They won just one of six matches against the three best teams in the league.

This is his seventh season at Liverpool and things are not going well so far. To put it mildly.

Is this just a blip and they’ll be neck and neck in a battle for first place again very soon?

Or are in they facing the same grim struggle for European football that Dortmund went through in 2014/15?

Keep their name out your fecking mouth, Pogue

They beat us from the point Fabinho came on last time out. Fabinho starts today and they’re fine. Fabinho is the key.

Can we close this utterly ridiculous thread now? Tabloid stuff.
This thread

Just to be clear. Jumping to assumptions that they’re in trouble after 3 poor performances is stupid but jumping to assumptions that they’re not in trouble after a very good 45 minutes is ok?

Feck sakes Pogue why'd you have to make this thread yet. Way to jinx it.

They're definitely in trouble in terms of a title challenge. They just don't seem to have a squad who can cope with injuries. But I don't think we're looking at any sort of collapse here.

Fabinho was the most no-brainer signing in the history of no-brainer signings but we didn't even have a go at it. Let them get him instead. Double OG.

Yeah, it's a cringe thread mate

They'll make top 4 but they won't challenge for the title unless they sign a midfielder and sign some depth for Diaz and Salah who otherwise will have to play 3 games week in week out.

I think it’s more based on their form over the past five seasons, with most of those players still around their prime years.

5-0 at half time ….yeah they’ll struggle this season

panic my arse

I don’t even think they are in trouble tbh. Was more asking the question than making a statement. I still think something’s not quite right. They’ve needed a big contribution from Milner over the last few years and if he finally hits the wall that willl make life difficult. Plus the doubts over Nunez as an adequate replacement for Mane and VVD maybe having a bit of a dip.

Obviously will need a much bigger sample of games to draw any conclusions.

Nah I get your train of thought. Things can go out of kilter at clubs sometimes for various reasons. But I think on the balance of things they will be okay and probably finish comfortably in the top four.

They weren't even that bad against us, arguably the better team. As soon as their injuries clear up they'll be title challengers again.

It would have been interesting if they had another tough game this week, rather than a walkover against possibly one of the worst teams to ever play in the league.

If you like losing arguments, then yeah, they were arguably the better team.

A win like that makes there next set of opponents shit themselves before they get on the pitch

Remember our struggles post beating Southampton 9-0?

They've answered their critics brilliantly but you can't ignore how they struggled first 3 games. Liverpool need to find consistency, not demolishing a team in a one off game.

Matic was PL proven, you can't put a price on that.

This thread is one big cope. Would love to see them fail, but come on now...

Exactly. Nothing much to see here.
