In the Fergie Era we get Bellingham and Kane and win the next 3 titles.
Doesn't mean much yet. A Ballon D'or in a year's time will never be about early season form. It will depend on trophies, mainly Euros, CL and maybe league.Front runner for 2024 Balon dor at this point
Henry was on the decline at that point. He was still a very good player, but his peak was nearly 5 years earlier, after injury he’d clearly lost a step, and he wasn’t in the conversation for the ballon d’Or at any point after that. That’s just not comparable to Mbappe now.I see. So despite his reputation, his expectations would already have been tempered before going to Barcelona, whereas Mbappe will go in expecting to be the centerpiece.
In the Fergie Era we get Bellingham and Haaland and dominate for the next 8 years. In the Fergie Era we get Bellingham and Kane and win the next 3 titles.
The Balon Dor mostly decided by trophies especially those of the European / International kind. So a good start doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things.Front runner for 2024 Balon dor at this point
In the Fergie era we knew who to buy sooner than the rest, now we are the rest.In the Fergie Era we get Bellingham and Kane and win the next 3 titles.
Thats like asking if the pope is catholic. No fan of any team in world football would say no to that, including city.Do we still have any doubters?
Does anybody think the hundred million was overpriced?
Can I have a thumbs up for any United fans that would love this guy in their team right now?

Yup. The much-derided (by some at least) “pace and power”, but coupled with the intelligence to know how to make best use of it, is more valuable than silky ball skills these days. It's interesting that two of the best of the new generation are physically unreal and their excellence relies on it (Haaland + Bellingham).
Only in players younger years. Bellingham won't have the longevity of Modric, Kroos or Scholes unless he works on the more majestic parts of the game as a midfielder. Why do you think Gerrard was finished at 33.Yup. The much-derided (by some at least) “pace and power”, but coupled with the intelligence to know how to make best use of it, is more valuable than silky ball skills these days.
He has silk too. It doesn't always look as pretty as it does from some players, possibly due to his body shape. Thomas Muller syndrome.Yup. The much-derided (by some at least) “pace and power”, but coupled with the intelligence to know how to make best use of it, is more valuable than silky ball skills these days.
Bryan Robson type player, but with more skill. What's interesting is that he plays like a rather old-fashioned centre-midfielder. He drives his team, he reminds me of Viera in some, some ways, also Yaya Toure, although were both more defensive minded, and dominated matches, rather than moments. You rarely find players like this now, as players now want to 'play between the lines' or sit deeper and orchestrate, Rodri, Rabiot.
Bellingham is probably England's most important player, alongside Kane. It's also notable that he is the youngest player in the squad, and it shows. Why? Because Jude Bellingham plays like someone who does not play for Gareth Southgate. Bellingham takes his shirt and he defines games. He changes the way the other midfielders and forwards play. When Bellingham isn't driving things on, England look like they did a few years ago under Southgate, nervous, awaiting something to happen, or to capitalise on an error. Bellingham moves the dial. He needs to just play his game and ignore any Southgate advice etc.
A fair amount of this depends on whether you get foul calls or not. Ive seen a good number of players in this younger group that you basically have to foul to get the ball off of them …. But players are allowed to foul most of them (run though them, step on heels etc) so what’s the point?Yup. The much-derided (by some at least) “pace and power”, but coupled with the intelligence to know how to make best use of it, is more valuable than silky ball skills these days.
You're a strange poster.Do we still have any doubters?

You come across very much as a 'sore winner'. What does your post bring to the thread, as it doesn't provoke discussion or debate, so why bother?Do we still have any doubters?

Well that’s yet to be seen, though it’s a fair point.Only in players younger years. Bellingham won't have the longevity of Modric, Kroos or Scholes unless he works on the more majestic parts of the game as a midfielder. Why do you think Gerrard was finished at 33.
Yeah that’s a fair point as well. One thing that Bellingham is good at though is making sure he’s in a dangerous position when he gets fouled.A fair amount of this depends on whether you get foul calls or not. Ive seen a good number of players in this younger group that you basically have to foul to get the ball off of them …. I see very few “protected” players now.
So what we get to watch is the result of that. Like everything else: you get what you incentivize.
No idea why some posters refer to him as cocky. Everytime I've seen him give interviews, he's always come across as very humble.

In the Fergie Era before Abramovich's Chelsea take over then absolutely yes. That was the time no club in EPL can compete with Utd financially. In the Fergie Era we get Bellingham and Kane and win the next 3 titles.
Are you here to annoy united fans?Do we still have any doubters?

He can be cocky on the pitch. Not everyone would dare to celebrate goals like that while playing away on certain stadiums. No idea why some posters refer to him as cocky. Everytime I've seen him give interviews, he's always come across as very humble.
I'm guessing it's his celebration. No idea why some posters refer to him as cocky. Everytime I've seen him give interviews, he's always come across as very humble.
Regardless of his future accomplishments your club will always look small time for retiring the squad number of a teenager who showed good potential for 18 months in the championship, so pipe down.Do we still have any doubters?

I agree. I still find it a bit strange how Haaland and Jude were allowed to join Dortmund over United. In the Fergie Era we get Bellingham and Kane and win the next 3 titles.
One chairman done that who was soon sacked. All 92 clubs are as important as each other so why don’t you pipe down.Regardless of his future accomplishments your club will always look small time for retiring the squad number of a teenager who showed good potential for 18 months in the championship, so pipe down.
Stop trying to wind people up, it’s unpleasant. One chairman done that who was soon sacked. All 92 clubs are as important as each other so why don’t you pipe down.
Can you please explain to me where I was wining people up?Stop trying to wind people up, it’s unpleasant.
He’s very good but it’s early days in his career. With the hype you’d think he’s won the lot or something.Do we still have any doubters?

Mbappe is better than both and his does too. But you make it sound as if this lot are technically average (Haaland actually is). That’s just how the sport is headed - physicality is more and more important in the collective and in the individuals. But nothing will beat pure technical genius ala Messi. It's interesting that two of the best of the new generation are physically unreal and their excellence relies on it (Haaland + Bellingham).

Messi without any physical ability would have been a Europa League level player, he was very quick and particularly agile from 17 until his late 20s, with the most important of all a quick first step, strong for his height and fit - you can’t play 1,000 games and 60-70 a year without being subbed and perform game after game without that.Mbappe is better than both and his does too.
