I’ve already got the next few games plotted out:

Madrid - we go 1-0 up then lose the game 3-1.
City (a) - we get stuffed, maybe even 4-1 or something.
Chelsea (a) - draw
Arsenal (h) - obviously we win this game.
Leeds (a) - big fat stinky 1-0 loss.

Can see all that happening. Maybe 2 or 3 up against Madrid though, they like to let teams think they’re in the tie.

Red Card for Casemiro!
What a strange strange club. How on earth do you go from thrashing the most in form club in Europe, your rivals, 7-0 to losing against relegation teams without scoring a goal?

It is infuriating, in a way. Liverpool can feck right off, the game raising cnuts.

There’s that and the fact we threw the game after they scored. Disgraceful we allowed that to happen to this shite

Klopp will be asking his players exactly that. They're taking the piss

They need to drop Salah, Fabinho and van Dijk but they have their cults and elevate players to such mythical status, that they can’t see the obvious.

VdV and Fabinho are finished as footballers at an elite level and Salah needs to be moved closer to goal as he gets older.

But Klopp is horrendously stubborn and just keeps playing the same players over and over. Long may it continue.

Like many here, I've believed all week they would lose their next game.

There turn to be embarrassed.

Klopp excuse for Salah missing the penalty. "I don't know when we got a penalty before" basically saying Salah was rusty on penalty taking.
He's a moany cnut.

Don't think it's a penalty myself.

You literally can't jump for a ball without using your arms. It just hits him and he's knows nothing about it. Stupid rule.

Stop using Gakpo as a striker you teethy cnut. Sell him back to PSV (or we'll take him from you). We have few enough talented attackers for our national team as it is. No reason to ruin another one.

Tbh I could see him doing well in the Firmino role.

Stuff like this makes me believe in some weird higher power curse on us at Anfield. Everything just bounced perfectly for certain goals, every shot goes in...then they can't hit a barn door vs the worst team and even miss a penalty! Madness!

He should just play on the left. He's usefull, but not especially versatile. His positioning in the middle is crap and he's not quick enough on the ball to play there. He needs space.

Suppose it does prove though as we mostly all thought that it was a freak result like Neville stated.

Just saw the score and then watched the highlights.

Please tell me that people are making a big deal about the award of that penalty. That was ridiculous

They remind of us under Ole at some point. Mates FC with all the love between Klopp and his players, even the most underperforming, it really feels like some players don't care about performing poorly because they know they will play next game.

A lot of people thought that it was a definite pen as the ball would definitely have gone in.

No angle proves the definitely part for me. And it was a little harsh as the bloke wasn't even looking, and it wasn't much range between ball and hand.
However, he did stick his arm out a bit, but you're going to when jumping like that.

I can see him moving on next year just for a fresh challenge really. He made it clear in his Dortmund days that he had no interest in doing a Sir Alex Ferguson and staying in one place for such a long time. On top of that, if FSG are truly staying at least medium term then he’s stuck having to pull out miracles. They need considerable investment in midfield and defence.

Hmm, it was a penalty for me. Under current rules, it has to be.
Never a pen.

Defender wasn’t even looking and he was far too close to move his arm out of the way in any case

“Current rules” means very little to me when they just seem to make them up as they go along. United have had much clearer handball penalties than that waved away. Probably will tomorrow too

It might mean little to you, but the rules over ride what it means to you. It’s a penalty under current rules. Also he actually moves his arm upwards unnecessarily after already using his arms for elevation.

To be fair we've had penalties given against us this season that shouldn't have been given under the current rules and also denied penalties that should have been given under the current rules.

So the current rules don't seem to override what things mean to Refs on certain days.

But that’s the same in any era, it’s always down to the refs interpretation. The rules are still the same for every ref though. I don’t like the rules, but they are what they are.

Well with the penalty vs Sociedad in particular there was no way to interpret that as a penalty in in way, shape or form under the current rules. Yet not one but two referees deemed it a penalty.

So the rules are whatever refs feel they are on any particular day.

The Sociedad was a joke. Like I said I think the rule is pretty crap at the moment (or the consistency of it), but the Liverpool one today I didn’t think was controversial. On average they’ve been given most of the time.

Even if you think that it's a correct penalty* and you argue that it's given "most of the time", that means that some of the times it's not given due to the subjective nature of the rule and that no hard criteria are fulfilled. So even if you accept that "most of the times it's given, but sometimes it's not", then surely VAR shouldn't go in and judge the non-award of a penalty a "clear and obvious error", considering the threshold we've been subjected to this season. For example, Weghorst getting absolutely pelted in the shin was not given as a foul because apparently it wasn't a clear and obvious error to not award a penalty for absolutely blasting someone in the leg, so on what basis has this passed the bar for a VAR intervention?

* To which I'd argue that there's no criterion that makes it an obvious penalty (it's not deliberate, it's not unnaturally making the body bigger, because that sort of arm movement can be expected and/or natural in a jumping motion when a player is turning his head as the Bournemouth player was, and the arm wasn't raised above the head, which according to the guidances is "rarely a natural position".

You also had that pen against PSG some years back that was way less of a pen. The rules are just daft. As far as these interpretable situations go, this one wpuld probably be given by most refs? His arm is 90 degrees away from his body and he blocks a header at goal. There's a reason defenders walk around like penguins with their arms behind their backs. If it were Feyenoord, I would be furious to not get a pen there :wenger:

Think Salah thought it was a soft pen though, seeing as he was noble enough to boot it 12 feet wide.

There’s no consistency in these rules was my point

The mistake we made last week was going toe to toe with them.

The way to beat this Liverpool team is to sit back and hit them on the counter.

Not really. We had the better chances in the first half apart from their jammy goal. The second half we simply mentally collapsed.
