What terrible thing will happen if she is taught this?
If she ends up lesbian as a result of becoming confused by being bombarded by these messages before she was old enough to discover her own sexual preferences - I think that is a shame quite frankly. Likewise if she was secretly a lesbian but because I brainwash her that all homosexuality is wrong and she stays in the closet out of fear all her life.

I think messing with kids and telling them you can cross dress, you can have sex with people of the same gender etc before they have had the chance to naturally develop their sexual preference and orientation is wrong.

If I eventually end up with a kid whose homosexual so be it but I’d rather they did so naturally rather than being brainwashed from a young age.

Raees I wil let you into a secret, your kid won't be brainwashed into being gay. If they're gay they're gay.
Tbh that isn’t strictly in stone yet is it from a scientific perspective. I personally agree with your remark but some people will argue there is a nurture element to it not just nature.

I was talking more about raising your children to believe in religion as per my original post, not necessarily about the teaching of it in schools as such.
Just to be clear...you'd advocate that the state should prevent parents from encouraging their children to believe in God and/or teaching them about (their) religion?

I think it's certainly an interesting topic, the effects of which have been felt throughout history on things such as science, medicine etc.
Indeed, and men of faith (from Copernicus and Galileo, to Kepler and Newton) gave birth to modern science. In fact...their faith informed their science.

But that's where it should be taught, imo - history class. Religion and history are naturally intertwined, and delving into the effect religion had on the development of humankind is a far more useful thing for kids to be learning than simply what the Buddhists are up to, for instance.
Fair enough.

I understand. I’m straight because I was brainwashed into being so by my schools curriculum and sexual education. Thanks Raees.

Western imperialists just trying to culturally whitewash anything that goes against their dogma.

No one is saying you were straight through brainwashing. Point is by time you hit puberty, most people will have kind of figured out their sexual orientation so if you have lessons around that age it makes sense and is age appropriate. If you're teaching them that stuff at the age of 6, then yes you do risk messing with a kids head and interfering with their sexuality.

Or enhancing it and validating their feelings.

@Raees - when did you choose to be straight?
I'd say I had a tendency towards liking girls from age 3 onwards but I didn't know what 'straight' v 'gay' was until the age of 10/11 in terms of the rough outline and it is only when I was like 13/14 when I saw porn for the first time, I properly got what sex was about and then you make a more informed decision as to whether you're into guys or girls. It was a natural process of figuring it out without it being dictated to by school or parents.

I had a family member who was gay but I didn't know or understand it till aged 10/11 and I would have had no idea what it meant from a sexual mechanics POV.

So from your earliest memories, you've been straight. Consider what that means for people who are homosexual and quit worrying about people being "brainwashed" into being gay.

Interesting. Do you have anything to actually back that up

You literally said kids can be brainwashed into being gay.

Yes and they can be brainwashed into being straight via religion hence people being forced to stay in closet. I said 'you' weren't straight through brainwashing because as far as I am aware the current school curriculum doesn't force children to be straight and if it does I would like to be shown evidence of that.

So how is this change in curriculum going to force children to be gay?

Heres a question from the other side...

So if i dont want MY kid learning this at a very young age then am i allowed to withdraw MY child from this?

Or are other people going to police me about what they feel is better for my kid?

You're saying to me that at the age of 6, if you told a kid that being transgender is totally normal and if you want to be the opposite gender that is fine, there are going to be zero 6 year olds nationwide who won't want to pursue that (who would never have even thought about it if it wasn't put into their head in the first place)?

No one is saying that being transgender is wrong - but I am saying that it is interfering with children's outlook on gender, orientation and forcing them to think about things their young minds shouldn't have to consider at that tender age.

The answer to that is literally in the OP.

Apply that "logic" to vaccinations.

Sure, it's easy to say that teaching kids about gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability and age discrimination won't brainwash them into being a generation of pan-sexual, Buddhist demigender Benjamin Buttons on crutches but can we really take that risk?

I think you're into murky waters with language such as "prevent". But yeah, let's just say I'm all for letting a child reach the age of reason before they have to weigh up whether or not they think a bearded man made the world in 7 days, instead of just telling them it's a fact and that they're going to hell if they think otherwise.

It'll confuse some kids into being gay who might never have considered it in the first place. Likewise if a young kid goes to mosque and is told that being gay is wrong, he might be too scared to ever consider being gay even though in truth, he was better suited to being with a man ultimately. I'm arguing it is wrong either way and the timing of when you inform kids about relationships and sex is important.

We do need to guard against homophobia, so these lessons are important. It is the timing of it that I am saying we need to be careful about.

I'm not saying anything.

You're the one saying that kids can be transgender/gay/whatever because they've learned that transgender/gay/whatever people exist.

I'm simply asking for proof, given that you're suggesting basing kids education on your assertion.

Of course you can. There are people who are clearly gay and clearly hetro, but there are some people who fall in between and are confused for a long time and there are also bisexuals. Not everyone comes out the womb one or the other. That isn't scientifically proven.

Better not teach your daughter about Hitler, don't want her growing up to be a German dictator with one bollock.

I just think this goes to prove how much of a cultural divide there is and how people in the West think their values are perfect and need to be imposed on all other cultures. Any opinion different to yours on how to raise kids is a 'wind up'. Quite frankly I find that there is a hint of bigotry behind such a stance and a refusal to understand where other peoples values come from.

Only white western values are worth teaching in schools, everything else is worthless and from neanderthal cultures.

Even if I did try to avoid teaching her it, she'd probably learn about how if she wants.. she can dress up as a German Dictator with one bollock as that is celebrating being gender and genital fluid (or lack there of).

I was sniffing female butts and cozying to big tits from the moment I could walk on my own.

No amount of dick penetrating other man butthole would make me change my ways.

I know you get attacked for this opinion but you can. Being gay or straight is a spectrum really.

I think there are a lot of us in this thread who are silent because and opinion contrary to what is popular nowadays is deemed homophobic. It's a little dumb imo.

Being from the American South gives me a pretty low opinion of hiding behind playing the "you're just attacking my values" card.

OK, let's say if people can be brainwashed into being gay, what is wrong with that?
