It’s frustrating, obviously, but didn’t he play 29 games last season? We saw Young last season because of Valencia / not having any other options. I think Shaw deserves the rest of the season to sort it out because we definitely have much higher priorities in the squad. If he ends up missing a lot more of this season or not playing well we unfortunately will need to invest in some competition for him.
Yeah that's true and has somewhat skewed my perception.
My opinion is that Luke Shaw, when fully fit and 'consistent', is a 6-7/10 player. He isn't going to be a difference maker at either end of the field. Whether we, as fans, are happy with that is another thing I suppose.
I just look at most of our 'rivals' LB's and see much better players and it winds me up.
For me, Shaw lies in Tier 2 I reckon in terms of upgrades.
If I was running things, it'd be:
Tier 1 (summer 2020) - CDM, CM, RW, STR, #10 (replacing Pogba - yep, 5 signings, I know. Never gonna happen but still).
Tier 2 (summer 2021) - LB, CB (unless Axel has made the spot his). Couple of young kids for the future.
