I've been a massive Shaw defender for a while, glad to see him finally getting his dues. It was popular opinion during the summer (when the front three and Bruno/Pogba/Matic would play every game) that he was our weak link in the team. Nonsense.

Good again today but definitely at fault for me on the first goal. Lindelof should also do better but it's the fullback's responsibility to cut that space off. His corners are unbelievably accurate, just wish someone could get a header on target

What’s happened to Shaw this season?! Absolute beast on that left flank. Forgot the left flank, he’s everywhere! Looking like Fred 2.0 right now.

Is it the healthy competition since Telles came in? Or is it the Ole effect? Anyway, keep it up Shaw. This is exactly the player I hoped to see.

Beast at LB now. Arguably the best left back in the premier league. Robertson better perhaps.

Deadball specialist. I'd like him to try a shot or two if the angle is favourable

Superb to see him at his Southampton/ early United form. His injury and the mourinho saga slayed him but so glad to see that ole has shown faith with him . Telles signing has pushed him on which what was needed. I watched him live just after his comeback after the injury in a u23 game against spuds (at Stevenage) with my bro in law and he was garbage and me and my bro in law were really worried about his future but he had shut us up a treat

He's been great the last few weeks but he got done today for both goals, especially the first. It doesn't matter how good the rest of his game was.

Delighted to be shown up in my judgement of Shaw. I've given out about the lad so many times. When he won our player of the year trophy a few years ago I thought it was a farce. However, had he played then the way he's playing now it'd have been justified. Long may it continue.

Can't put any blame on their 2nd, he was far away from Salah once the ball was lost. Thought he actually did well to almost block it in the end.

Exactly. He shouldn't have been. Maguire shouldn't have just wandered off though either.

Another fantastic performance and he wasn't at fault for the first goal because in a zonal marking setup Salah is in Lindelof's zone.

Can't blame my fullback if he is far away in the initial phase trying to stretch the pitch. Not his fault we fecked up playing from the back once again. Have to see the goal again, but it seemed like his reaction, once the ball was lost, was more than appropriate.

Scored an absolute worldie, from outside the box into top corner, with him a couple of years ago on FIFA 17. He's a beast.

I'd personally put it down to a good run from a world class player. I find it hard to blame either for the goal.

Luke's playing like a man possessed at this moment. His first touch has always been one of the best in the squad but now he's adding driving runs + practically owning that left hand side.

Can I also remind you he's only 25, feels like he's been here forever.

Brilliant first half. Obviously got quieter as Salah got into the game. On this form I don't think Telles is going to get a look in.

Was good but I do think he could have done better for both goals. Lindelo should be stepping in and cutting that ball out to Salah but Shaw looks like he’s too worried about Alexander Arnold which I can understand as he was left to hang a few times tonight by his team mates not tracking back.

2nd one I think he can get across quicker to Salah.he is standing there watching him for what felt like an age. Apart from those two moments the rest of his game was solid.

He and Lindelof didn't cover themselves in glory for the first goal but apart from that I thought he was at his usual standard, his delivery from set pieces and his all-round play are a huge asset to the team.

Yeah his set piece delivery has definitely improved and reckon that working with Telles is benefitting that side of his game

people getting carried away. his man scored twice today.
There’s 3 more defenders on the pitch.

Yes he could have tracked him better for the first goal but at the same time Lindelof did sod all to block him either. All he has to do is move towards shaw and block the space as salah is the only danger - but he does nothing to effect it.

Shaw taking free kicks is new. Him hopefully scoring one and causing everyone to lose their shit celebrating is going to be fun.

He has been immense recently.

Really lost it a bit defensively and failed to track Salah more than once, but offensively was pretty good.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

I've got no problems with his original positioning, but he was a bit slow getting back. I guess he felt Maguire was covering Salah so he was only jogging back. He only broke into a proper sprint as Maguire moved across a bit and Salah got into space, but by that time he was slightly too late.

Watching the goals back it's actually the first goal I've started revising the amount of blame I originally gave him. Our four defenders were actually holding a good line across the field, but as Salah went through Lindelof suddenly dropped with him which is the only reason Salah wasn't comfortably offside. Shaw may have been slightly slow to react to that but he originally did the right thing by holding his line and was let down by Lindelof.

Yep, that's why I said I need to see the goal again as it was cut in the highlights once it was well past the turnover and he was already in the sprint. Agree now with the remark, should have been there sooner actually.

We had the ball comfortably when it was passed into cavani and he was making his way up the pitch.

Bet you also complain he doesn't get forward enough

He’s really good. We could have lost him on a free a couple years back but I’m glad we didn’t. Looks a beast nowadays

I think Telles didn’t only bring competition. With Telles, Shaw has a reliable colleague and doesn’t need to play through small injuries and fatigue. He can be rested and subbed without a big quality drop. I think that is just as beneficial as the competition.

It's actually amazing the percentage of his corners that find a teammate.
Yeah his deliveries from corners has been excellent.

At first when he started taking them, I thought it was a really strange choice to take them off Bruno id probably our best deliverer of a ball. But it seems like Bruno is a bigger threat by lurking on the edge of the box for anything that falls in that region.

People put him up to the sky despite him being almost responsible for two of the goals conceded
Before anyone says anything (yes, I think he has been better lately and against Liverpool away he was 10/10) but it's fascinating. High and low here. You are best, or you are shit. He was descent yesterday. Could have and should have done better in defense bot overall he was good. No way he's "best in the world". Jesus.

Absolutely agree with that. Shaw does get a few niggles so its good he can get the rest when needed. United's squad depth is reflected in our league position.
