Manchester United 3:1 Crystal Palace (Tue 19th July, 11:10 UK time)

Nah. Those who have the slightest chance of making it here were given chances so far. And they did pretty well.
I think Mejbri and Garnacho have a chance of making it here mate.

Still undecided on Shaw/Malacia. Also let's wait what the plan is for Martinez and Eriksen.

But yeah apart from that and with no further signings it won't be much different. Not good enough. Top 4 will be a huge challenge. ETH will have to be a magician to make these get into the CL places.
Ole got top four with a comparable squad in his first full season, usually there are two or three sides who would pull away from the rest, the others would keep tripping over each other until one stumble over the finish line.

Funny how we end up with a very similar starting XI under every manager. Hopefully the likes of Sancho and Martial with no competition gets more than 45 minutes today. Hopefully we get to see more of Pellistri too, as he is the one who has impressed me the most among the young attackers, and could come in handy if we don't sign a forward. No point giving minutes to Chong and co to show us stuff we know already.

Do you think Ole was a magician? He got top 4 two seasons in a row with the same team?

This just isn't even remotely true  Savage and Iqbal the only players who have a slight chance of making it here? I feel bad for the pair of them, people are just setting themselves up to be disappointed.

It's not strange if we don't have any signings on tour and 6 regulars have left, except Malacia who starts.

Damn it’s pre season and it’s already worse than the match day threads. Couldn’t make it up

No. Spurs, Arse have all strengthened pretty well and Chelsea I think are also nailed on for top 4. The PL this season will be a lot more competetive. It will be damn hard with that squad.

Hard to get excited at that starting line-up. Maguire, Mctom, Fred, Dalot are uninspiring.

Let's hope so. Looking at the squad of our rivals they look better than ours though.

I'm more excited about the system than the players.

I don't think these are shit players, at least 2-3 of them are very talented and in the right system can add massive value. There were so many bright moments against Liverpool and Melbourne too.

Yeah Fred scoring that sick goal against Liverpool wasn’t at all inspiring or exciting, how dare our best and hardest working midfielder start ffs

It's a fair point, Maguire and Fred at their best are both pretty good players, McTominay and Dalot are just beyond hope, in my opinion.

The biggest challenge for ETH is getting more out of our existing crop, the moaning over our team on here is ridiculous.

At least 5 of our players have been top drawer in the past, and getting them back to their best will be the difference this year.

Maguire
Varane
Shaw
Rashford
Sancho

Add to that a few new signings, we're (potentially) well placed this season, but its pointless spending on new players unless we see an improvement in this lot, which comes down to the management and coaching.

I don’t get the complaints about the lineup. It’s pre-season under a new manager and he needs to see how our first team players perform so he can make his own judgement.

Its pointless giving Zidane and Savage more minutes than our actual first team, they’ll hopefully get chances throughout the season but they’re nowhere near ready to play more than a bit part.

To be fair, Fred has gone some way to winning me over the past 6 months or so, still have no idea whats going to happen every time he gets the ball though and in general I still feel he's not good enough.

Yeah I dunno why he hasn't given them a chance in pre-season yet. I'd love to see them under Ten Hag.

Agreed. Fans need a complete mental restart.

On twitter on every post all I see is "why is Maguire here" "why is maguire in this photo" it's quite strange how they've really taken to personally hating him.

I get he had a shit year last year but all this toxicity isn't going to help at all. People moaning he's still the captain and saying they are disappointed in ETH for not dumping him?

If Maguire doesn't perform he will get dropped, it's as simple as that.

The season we finished 2nd, didn't Chelsea strengthen? They spend 250m?
Didn't Arsenal strengthen?
Spurs as well, they backed Jose that season.

I swear some people argue about anything under the sun related to United.
The game hasn't even started! Calm down!

Maybe they just want to up their post numbers?!

Let's hope so. Looking at the squad of our rivals they look better than ours though.
Do you factor in Martinez, Eriksen, Ronaldo (he's still here and if he depart would be replaced), and possibly De Jong coming in?
In my opinion they aren't, especially Arsenal and Tottenham.

I think the issue is that if we don't sign FDJ, it's McFred forever more this season. Mctominay in particular seems to get picked based on seniority rather than what he offers on the pitch.

It's always nice to see Robbo esp after his cancer scare. He was my hero/fav player when I was a kid.

starting at ten past the hour in case the friendly fell on remembrance sunday and it clashed with the 2 minute’s silence at 11. glad our club is finally thinking about british people after brexit.

Our midfield options were better though. Plus we had Greenwood coming through and Martial and Rashford on top of their game. It will be harder this season I reckon.

The lineup is a troll to be fair. Maguire/Lindelof, McFred...
