Not for me. His free kick was fantastic but it was an otherwise OK performance. Better than many this season, but not quite the heights he hit vs Chelsea at OT for one example.

Put it this way, if he didn't score the free kick many would be questioning him.
Yeah, I agree it's all a relative matter because it doesn't look like this whole season is one to remember kindly for Marcus and I guess that's why he cuts such an unsatisfied figure after the final whistles. Regarding the Chelsea game, he did score a nice goal and worked hard defensively but was there anything else in that game from him?

It's good to hear that he's serious about his potential by putting in more hours at the training ground. He can become a top player for us.

It's great that he isn't getting swept up by the fame he's getting right now. Most young talents would stagnate and relish in the crazy money they get, but Rashford seems to be still trying hard to reach higher levels.

He's demonstrating an impressive combination of maturity and work ethic to compliment his talent. A great sign as to his long term viability.

It's just the most dynamic I saw him. If I'm honest there's not really one performance this season where he's completely dominated the game, but in the Chelsea fixture I really felt he caused Luiz and co. problems all day long and he really ran them ragged. It's down to opinion, but that was the best of him that I personally have seen this season. Even before the goal his fantastic movement fashioned couple of chances. What I consider a good performance for Rashford isn't necessarily what I'd consider a good performance for someone like Ibra.

Going back to my original point, when he's on the wing he's good but he often finds himself squeezed out of space and he doesn't quite has the close control that Martial does. It means he runs the ball out of play a lot. When he's playing centrally he's more of a direct threat to the opposition with the running in behind. The free kick was really, really good, but actually I was more wildly impressed with that effort in the first half. Shifting it really quickly and a great effort. Jose said in the post-match that Rashford has been taking half an hour after training sessions to work on his free kicks, so really glad he was rewarded.

Jose on Rashford "He's a 19 year kid but he's a 19 year old kid in love with football, a kid that finishes the training session and stays half an hour more every day to take free kicks and to wait for the opportunity"

Reminds me a bit of some quote I heard about Beckham once... can't remember which though.
His level of maturity in such age is amazing. He's just walking on the same road Ronaldo walked on, working very hard to improve himself and gives 100% when playing.

He's one young player I have no worries about him. He'll come good. I'm sure of it.

Any news on the injury?
Not sure but I hope we protect him. It's just the sort of stress the likes of Owen, Rooney and Co were expected to put on their body and they suffered for it.

Just love him. Kane might be better now (ref the other thread) but talents like this from our own ranks is why it's worth following a football club.

Interesting, Rash should be in on freekick duty as Zlatans out & Pogba should stay well clear until he learns to kick the ball between the posts, should spend an extra 30 mins after training watching Rashford.

Beckham freekick, if I remember correctly, first game of the 98-99 treble season, 2-0 down, vs Leicester away, Becks mate it 2-2 last minute of the game and away fans abused the shit out of Beckham all season after being sent off in world cup 98?

There's also that superb chance laid on a plate for Lingard. I can't see it myself where Rashford fits in a better way, be it on the wing or as a striker. He's got the potential to fulfill both roles, though I'm more inclined to think that Jose will rather stick with him on the flanks. Either way there's still a lot to work on for Marcus, like his composure coupled with decision making and finishing. I think all of these aspects define his shortcomings in this season. Anyway he's the hero of the night and my MOTM.

Ridiculous how good he is. He is so athletic, pacey and can dribble. Oh and he can hit a ball too. He isn't scared of running past any defender which is so satisfying to watch because it makes him look fearless - I'd love to see how he'd fare against Chiellini, Ramos or Boateng for example.

The only thing I can criticise him for is his heading which is rarely seen and that is why i do believe we need an out and out striker who can score goals with every part of their body.

Apart from that I am ecstatic that we have him and also the fact he is 'ours' so to speak due to his upbringing and place of birth.

What also is amazing for us and him is the fact he isn't getting as much hype or exposure from the British tabloids like you did with Rooney or even Kane and Alli. This is a major blessing in disguise imo.

It's becoming more and more apparent that all he really needed was a run of games in his best position. Hopefully Jose actually sticks with him this time

That's Everton buddy, his last game for us

For reasons I can't be arsed to get into I ended up missing the last 17 mins of the match. What's all this about an injury?

All that to get it so wrong.

Becks' last ever game, v. Everton. Miles better free kick in fairness.

It's well known that Becks stayed behind after training to practice FK's and crosses. There will be tons of quotes floating about for it.

On Rashford, Jose also said after the Chelsea game that Rashford stays behind after training to practice his FK deliveries into the box with the coaches. Bodes well for us that Rashford has taken it on himself to be the set piece specialist.

He has improved a lot from last season. There is still miles to go, but i'm quite excited by his prospect. Mourinho loves him and openly says he's training an extra half hour post training session for free kicks. Next season, he could be more mature.

He got a knock below his knee after 80 mins and took the best part of 2 mins to hobble across the pitch to be substituted, with several unhappy Celta Vigo players harrassing him on route. Didn't look a particularly serious injury though might rule him out of Arsenal on sunday.

Totti's retirement made me realize that the era of 'one club men' might be coming to an end, but this kid might turn out to be our own version of Totti, Raul, etc.

Absolutely love the kid. He tares around the pitch like a maniac, I love that he runs like he means it, rather than the silly half jogs that Martial does half the time.

I would absolutely love it if we could combine him and mbappe upfront, they would be the New Yorke and Cole

I hope he doesn't play against Arsenal. This is the exact reason we need a big name signing in the summer to ease the burden. Sadly too many people on here seem to think it will 'hamper his development'. Did signing Yorke, Solskjaer and Sheringham hamper Andy Coles development?!

Absolutely with you on this one. I know we're United fans and we're biased towards our young players, but Rashford is already at such a high level thanks not just to his ability but to his work rate, determination and maturity.

He will only get better. The boy is on the exact same path as Ronaldo.

Still got a lot to learn but he's great. Wanted him to play up top instead of Zlatan for the pace and movement he brings. In the long run, it's going to benefit the attackers around the striker as well if there's more pace and movement. Once his finishing improves, he's going to be super.

Really improved his threat from long shots and his hold up play recently, amazing the progress he's made since last season despite not the same goal ratio.
Absolutely. He's twice the player he was last season, his all round game has improved dramatically.

Last season he had so many factors contributing to his rise, adrenaline, luck, the surprise element, momentum... it powered him through 3 months of football. This season is different. Zlatan has come in, he's had to fight it out with 5 or 6 players for that spot in the team, he's had to earn the trust of a new manager, learn a new position, deal with defenders knowing his talents and attributes, and he's come out the other side scoring winning goals in European Cup Semi Finals as a first team banker. Well done Marcus... you've come a long way.

I said this before. I can't believe people were saying he has regressed this season ! Playing on the flanks and training with Zlatan has benefited him so much IMO and added different dimensions to his play when returned to play as a striker, more than what he got in the first season.

This season will be crucial in his development.

That was Beck's last goal for us, vs Everton. His freekick against Leicester was from the left side of the pitch.

Depending on his mentality, I'd love to have him as our number 9 next season, he's good enough.
Being a 'local' fan, seeing someone like Rashford scoring in a European semi final just fills me with pride. I hope he's a massive success for us.
