We are going nowhere with this lazy / greedy feck in the team. Pity PSG didn’t tempt him

Please defend this, as this is where 90% of the issues and anger are stemming from.

It's one thing to waste chances, but this, the lack of effort, concern or care to press, follow or tackle a player in proximity to you is unacceptable by any player.
Read my posts and you would see I criticised him for it.

90% of the issues are not stemming from that either because that is not what people say

Hardly anyone would argue with anyone saying he did not press enough yesterday

He doesn't ever press enough though and it's a massive issue for the TEAM. I say it time and time and time again, go back and watch the spankings we got from Liverpool and City, and watch Rashford. He doesn't track runners, doesn't cut passing channels and doesn't help out his full back. He is just a cone.

He isn't the only issue, Bruno is another elephant in the room. Our 2 most creative players are also massive liabilities for us.

I can’t get overly vexxed about isolated clips of one player supposedly not doing enough pressing, when it is clear from said clips that there is no framework in which for players to press effectively.

"Supposedly" :lol:

What do you even mean by there is no framework for players to press effectively? Just watch the clip ffs. This is what he does. Every single game.

Not sure why you are arguing a point I don't disagree with.

Bruno doesn’t press now also? Ok

So you don’t believe Rashford has a pressing problem? If so that’s laughable.

Pretending it's one individual clip too. We all know this is how Rashford is all over the pitch for 90+ minutes of a match. His aerial challenges are equally half-arsed and entirely consistent with this. He hasn't made a single tackle this season according to Opta and he's among the most disposed players in the league. The complete delusion that this is a 'dangerous' player with interest from Europe's elite clubs is laughable. He's a moments footballer who is generally a very, very poor player technically with minimal effort who gets treated like a God because of his charity work and Instagram posts of him looking a bit sweaty in pre-season.

I doubt they even watch any games to make such statements. Rashford's efforts off the ball(or lack of) are there to be seen every other game.

You understand that effective pressing is coached and drilled on the training ground? Running around like an 18-year-old Rooney and gassing yourself isn’t what pressing should be.

United didn’t lose control of the game yesterday because Rashford didn’t run enough in defence. They lost control because have after 20 minutes or so, De Zerbi sent the full backs wide higher up, rather than narrow as how they started, and United’s starting shape could no longer effectively oppose Brighton in possession. United never really adapted to Brighton’s change in shape when building out from the back.

He's a major problem.
The fact he's the best we've got is a major problem.
He shouldn't be immune to the fecking bench but there's nobody to replace him so we're stuck playing with him.

He is way too selfish at times.
In a way he is playing to his strengths. There are things that he is very good at; first time shots, beating his man and I’d say probably power in his shots. There are things where he is comfortably below elite standards, eg perfectly weighted passes, awareness of surroundings. So maybe he’s just doing the things he knows he’s good at, and maybe avoiding the things he isn’t.

Il not even sure as I write that that this is definitely the case, it’s just a thought. Maybe it is just genuine selfishness but I don’t think that’s the only explanation.

You need to be coached to press opposition players? Alright then!

Synchronised team press needs to be coached, but Rashford doesn't press at all and it's because he's not bothered or too lazy. How you can even be in denial is a mystery.

He didn't just not run back in defence, he nullified our press on their side of the pitch, making his team mates pressing worthless.

People are blaming ETH coaching for Rashford’s piss poor effort and laziness off the ball

He plays with his head down and 99 times out of 100 if he's on the ball he's either going to run it off the pitch, run it into a crowd of opposition defenders or try and get himself into a position to shoot from a futile angle, whilst likely ignoring opportunities to pass to a player in a more advantageous position. This is why he isn't going to link up well with a player like Hojlund in the long term. At least not in a way that's going to work. A player as limited and technically poor as Rashford cannot be taking 70% - 80% of our chances like he did yesterday and some proclaiming that he did really well because he fed the striker once in a movement where he was so brilliant he didn't even keep the fecking ball on the pitch

He assisted him yesterday and put another on a plate for him. What are you talking about?

Agree.

I'm convinced these posters are happy with where we are as a team, and as long as we fight for top 4 and barely get through in CL group stage, we're a successful club. Pathetic.

Not just this game, he needs to look out for better passes. He is no Ronaldo that he can score with both feet.

Drop Rashford for whomever you want. It would make zero difference to us not adapting to Brighton’s change in shape. We’d be no more effective in stopping them as a team, but would certainly be less threatening in attack. As soon as we were presented with this Brighton build up shape, we should have changed our narrow 4-4-2 diamond defensive formation.

Hojlund had 1 shot at goal. The other instance Rashford, again ran out of pitch before making the pass. Rashford had 9 shots and never looked close to getting on the sheet. He was again where the 80% of our attacking promise died and Holjund was fighting for scraps. The fact he looked up once in 90 minutes and passed to the guy who he should be feeding all the time throughout a match, isn't hugely impressive.

His goals per chances ratio so far this season is absolute dreadful as he ploughs on, head down, ignoring all around him into we either lose the ball, he runs it off the pitch or scuffs it into the crowd. These are things we tolerate from young developing players. It isn't something that should be the norm for supposedly the most 'dangerous' player we have pushing 26 on £300k a week.

It's not an assist when it's not a goal.

And seriously? The standards some of you got to our players.. fecking hell
I love that the defence against criticism that Rashford either runs into defenders, shoots from speculative ranges or just runs the ball off the pitch comes in citation of an example where he literally ran the ball off the pitch.

He hit the crossbar with a decent shot iirc? And before you start that's nothing to celebrate just replying to you saying he didn't come close to scoring.

When you got Rashford and Holjund on the pitch and the team create 10 chances and Hojlund gets 1 and Rashford takes 9, let's not pretend there's not an issue. A previous poster said it best the a day or two ago. He's got the moniker of 'most dangerous player' because how he plays does not afford many opportunities for others. Opportunities to create aren't limitless. Only Haaland has had more shots than Rashford. Either he's been spectacularly unlucky to have only scored 1 goal or Rashford taking on everything himself and playing his own game ignoring his team mates, is problematic.

Where are you seeing this stat? Rashford has the most shots in the league behind Haaland this year?

He's also been dispossessed twice as much as any other player at the club this season. Majority of these will be when we're attacking and he just decides to run into defenders.

The excuses really need to stop. Nobody expects perfection but even using stats he's awful this season

I dont think that is that strange considering he plays an attacking role where taking risk is a requirement. Attackers are usually the players losing the ball the most. They have the most opponents to deal with.

Antony is slated on here all the time because he doesnt take on his man (instead Antony keeps the ball in the team) but that does have the advantage that he doesnt get dispossessed often. Look at the minutes Rashford has made compared to all other attackers (Martial, Hojlund, Garnacho, Sancho and Antony) and it is normal to expect that Rashford is dispossessed a lot more than any other player.

Taking Rashford to task for having carved out nine shots in the match, and negatively contrasting that to his strike partner who could only enginneer himself a single shooting opportunity is quite the take.

We’ve still got those out there it seems who need to learn that the forwards who get themselves the most chances generally score the most goals.

Looking forward to the stage of the season where Rashford is then criticised for having scored too many of the team’s goals and having too high xG compared to his teammates.
