What is it with this obsession with transfer fees?

Muppets on here picking one player over another because hes cheaper is really starting to get on my tits.
It is not that one is cheaper, it is that two are ridiculously priced.

In a 4231 the AMs are generally deployed more like forwards than midfielders. Hence both Sneijder and Nasri are more suited to advanced positions, Modric is a proper CM, which is what you need.
I think so too.

Btw, what is Nasri's passing like? Is he a good/competent passer or a brilliant one? I've always felt it's his skill on the ball that is his stand out strength rather than his use of it.

His passing is very good but lacks the real innovation of a Fabregas (that is setting a very high standard though).

I've voted for Modric as out of the three I believe he is the closest to Scholes of 06/07 i.e the player we want in our midfield right now.

I doubt it, since you've already bought Young and Wenger won't sell to you.
If Nasri really wants to move to us, I don't see you guys having any choice actually. Also I don't think Young's arrival will have any bearing on Nasri's arrival. He will play in a central midfield role.

Nasri is more influential in the final third than Modric. Would enhance our ability to play a proper 4-5-1 with Rooney up top.

Difficult to tell how Sneijder would fit into the Premier League, it's easier to play his position in Italy than in England.

So Nasri.

Nasri.

He's younger, faster, more versatile, scores goals and generally well adapted to the league by now.

Modric controls the game better, but he's essentially a more mobile version of Carrick (with better passing, but also some defensive shortcomings) so i'm not sure how Carrick and him would both fit into the team. Nasri gives us the one thing we have lacked for years. A genuine goal scoring midfielder.

Modric has a LOT more flair to his game than carrick. Modric and carrick in the same midfield could give us a chance of keeping the ball a lot longer in games, especially away.

Any of the three would do well, and frankly be an upgrade on what we have -- but i have a feeling we won't get either. Worse still, they'll end up going to our rivals.

this thread won't end well if we don't get any of them.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
I'd most prefer Modric, simply because he's the one I'm most confident about in a two man midfield. Sneijder and Nasri have both performed at their best in front of a deeper two, and while I'm sure they can play there themselves, we really have no idea how good they'd be there. Would they be able to replicate their top form, or would they only be 'good' there?

Fratton Park, play up Pompey!
Nasri, personally i think Sneijder would push Rooney out of his best position. Also Nasri can play anywhere across the midfield and is the youngest of the three.

Sneijder is the best pick for me.
If we bring in realism in to this thread then we had to mention lifestyle, fee and wages.

I agree that Sneijder is the best player but he's also 27 years old and demand the highest wage. According to source's in his home country (my girlfriend is Dutch) he has health problems. There is no immediate fear but there are some concerns it can have a impact on his future status.

And then is Yolanthe. She has trouble written all over here forehead. TV host, model, religious (catholic) and local celebrity. And according to my bird his new wife is the boss in the Sneijder mansion. She love's to be famous and we all now what come's with that.

Maybe Sneijder isn't the wisest choice, even if he's the best player.

Are you the grammar police or did you honestly not get the gist of what I was trying to say...
He's just a pedantic old man, don't worry.

I'm not sure about any of them to be honest. Out of the 3 I'd say that Sneijder is the better footballer but I'm not sure how we'd use him as he's plays in a similar to where Rooney played last season.

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get any of the three listed here...

Well go back to page 1 of this thread, read the OP and you might understand what he's saying. The question was asked 'Which midfielder would the caf prefer'. Not which midfielder would David Gill think we can afford.

We all are aware of the realism aspect, hence me saying we won't sign anyone of the above in any event. Maybe at a long shot Modric.

Can't believe anyone'd have modric over sneijder - amazing

The caf, eh?
It is a bit of a surprise. I would worry a bit about Modric. I dont think he offers as much as many think and have always thought him to be a tad overrated.

If we want goals and creativity from midfield it has to be Sneijder every time followed by Nasri.

If we got one of them then also sign a holding midfielder and we would be complete.

People are choosing Modric because he is the closest out of the three to the Scholes of 06/07 season plus he is a better fit for the 4-4-2 then both of Nasri and Sneijder.

Plus both he and Nasri have a significant advantage over Sneijder by proving they can hack the pace and physicality of the Premier League.

Sneijder's looked great in Serie A but hey, so did Seba Veron.

Sneijder's looked great for a number of years across the dutch league, La Liga, Serie A and International football (8 years playing for Holland).

Oh and Seba Veron was one of the greatest players of the nineties
