I wonder how much Trump will want Elon being the face of the administration after this setback. If Elons touch becomes toxic, how long before GOP operatives tell Trump to shelve him. They will inevitably have a falling out, and it'll be beautiful.
He has to give up his government position next month anyway so unless Trump decides to keep him on after that, he's more than likely just going to be a Trump advisor and social media Trump warrior. Oh, he will definitely be bribing his way along buying elections or applying for more government grants.
They will spin this as “job done”, but in reality he is becoming deadweight for Trump.

I imagine there is a delayed reaction as well. Musk didn't do the Nazi shit until well into January, and by that point there are probably already signed purchasing and leasing agreements that haven't been delivered yet. Could get worse (here's hoping).
