The crazy thing is that it's easy to see when he tries things and they don't work as opposed to when he seems like he doesn't give a shit. No one would mind if he showed a bit more passion and fight.

Yeah this has always been the issue. It's visible when he wants it properly, and when he doesn't. Some make out like it's about him not doing worldy stuff all the time, but this is what the issue has been.

Even at Juve though you could tell he's best as part of a collective rather than being a guy who can do it all himself. He's so gifted you sometimes feel he should be but alas.

Juventus is still winning without him and we are no where near any top trophy with him and doubt we will be next season either.

Really frustrating performance today, sometimes it's as if his talent should give him the right to not be as gut-busting as the supposed lesser midfielders.

Saying that we do depend on him far too much for creativity from midfield. There's literally no one else that shares that burden with him so when he does have an off game it stands out a hella lot.

It's worrying that, since he's been average, we've been average and have struggled to win games like we were when Ole first came.

People saying get rid, but we really can't afford to. On a bad day such as today, he can still come up with something.

Are we winning any title depending on him alone? I don't see how can we.

No, that's why we need more quality around him. We know he's inconsistent - an Ozil type player, if you like. Get players of a similar quality, who can step when he has an average game and we would be better off.

Juventus sold him and didn't miss a beat. In fact, after selling Pogba they pushed on and tried to become better.

We bought Pogba for £90m. Juventus bought Pjanic, Matuidi and Bernadeschi for £88m. They bought a whole midfield and we got one player. Smart business from them.

As I replied in the matchday thread on a similar post. This isn't solving Pogba's problem. This is just covering it. Getting good players who will cover for his arse when he's having one of his stinkers who are very often. This isn't a solution.

Midfield in England can't hold a luxury player who decides to switch off when he doesn't care even if the rest are playing great.

Pogba's problem solution is for him to either get consistent and start putting on a certain consistent level of performance or just sell him and bring a more consistent player. The later seems to be the most logical to happen.

Yeah, like we are actually going to have to build a team to get the best of him and anything short of that will bring us frustration where he concerned, he ain't no cheat code.

Has let us down when we need him at the business end of the season. When was his last good game?

Having to go over a month back. McTominay has genuinely been better than him since the PSG loss. That's very troubling.

Juventus just fecked him off for big money to rejuvenate their team. Pogba is not good enough to sacrifice everything in your team for. They don't even do it for Ronaldo.

I have always said, sir alex didn't let him go for nothing. He saw right through him and his agent, juventus had the platform he could spring board on and he never learnt whats the most important thing in football till date.

That performance in world cup was just him playing maturely for few months as he wanted it.

This. How many players should we buy for him to feel good. Since Jose came it was all about getting that and that player to suit him. He isnt someone we should make a team around.
His atittude sucks.

Souness saw right through him?

He got a point for sure imo. He expresses it in trash way though.

Pogba will never be player to build on, and I'm pretty sure he's not going to stay here long term either.

Who was arguing with me saying he's as good as an overrated Zidane who week in week out did pretty much nothing.....holy bejeebies you were way off.

I'd say Zidane is more overrated than Pogba. His reliability in big games led to a cult following. No chance Pogba is as good as Zidane though.

If there is one thing I've learned from Paul Pogba's time here it is to have little expectations.

That way you can only be amazed when he does turn up

His signing really sums up our transfer policy over the last few years. Big name who is available, no thought process into how we play or where he'll fit in which leads to the constant use of the phrase 'you need to build a team around him' whenever he under performs. He's basically a more athletic Ozil who in the right type of system would smash out assists and goals regularly but in a limited team like ours, it's a coin flip whether he'll be a passenger or a match winner.

Pogba v Wolves: Pass completion - 69% (2nd worst on pitch) Dispossessed - 3 times (2nd worst on pitch) Dribbled past - 2 times (2nd worst on pitch) Tackle success - 33% Aerials won - 67% Interceptions - 0 Clearances - 0 Dribble success - 50% Shots on target - 0 Through balls - 0

I’m guessing only Young was worse

We are forced to play a 433 with him.

Watching the game I was so disappointed by Pogba. It felt as if he was barely in it, and when he was, he was a liability. Ole even swapped the midfield around first half to try get him in the game, but to no avail. Compare the performance he delivered tonight to McTominay and it is mind boggling. On form, he has you thinking he’s the best midfielder in the world, but on a night like tonight he’s a passenger.

Wow. So easy for a decent team to control a midfield that has Pogba in it. He plays like a complete passenger and instead of rising to the challenge of proving us wrong in the game he hides and sulks which is the exact reason he becomes a passenger. If he wanted to impose himself he could, but he clearly wont. Reminds me more and more of the Di Maria transfer this. I've tried to be understanding and you know we can tolerate being a bit inconsistent, especially of a player with his top level but dropping your head like that when things don't come easy gets on my nerves. If you play 10 world class games and 10 just horrible ones, who cares about the 20 where he is anywhere in between, there is too much variance. A lot of that could be turned around if he gave a solid shit, which is frustrating.

What has happened to Paul?! First games when Ole took over he was exceptional. I'm not sure it is wise to build the team around him. Perhaps a Madrid trip would suit us best in the long run.

McTominay was everywhere to be fair his best game for us. Played himself in to the first team for me.

I don't think we should so easily forget how integral he's been to our resurgence since Ole arriving, but one does begin to wonder if he will ever truly mature as a player. If we are to get back to the top of English football and indeed Europe, there can't be 90million quid passengers who turn up when they feel like. It really grates on me that he can come across as if working hard is beneath him.

For our top 4 hopes, hope he sorts his shit out.

Not only that, people even talked about how Alexis is getting in the way of Pogba with his positioning, I mean Alexis was bad, but how many things do we have to do to accomodate him ? Juventus midfield doesn't have any single name with the resonance of Paul Pogba, but i would take it every day of the week ahead of a midfield (even though it seems like all the team has to be) built around him.

Well, he is on a different level. Cant complain if he leaves .

He isn't getting any support from the team. McT was average and Fred wasn't that great either. He is a level above Lukaku interms of skill and could've played better with Rashy and Martial .

You what? Zidane was in a different stratosphere to Pogba. Playing well in big games is exactly what great players are supposed to do, odd to use that as a reason to call him overrated.

We played a back five. We played a midfield of Fred, Mctominay and Pogba.

Only players in front of him were Lukaku, who he created a good chance for in the stroke of half time, and the non-scoring, non-assisting free role player Jesse Lingard.

Put any creative midfield playe in there instead of Pogba, Kroos, Modric or anyone and most games you would struggle to see what is good about them.

The truth is the quality in this team is so low, the players making forward runs are so few. The players capable of passing through a press aren't here.

The fans of this club always do this, expecting him to rise above all the mediocrity around him, and just keep up being world class week in week out when everything around him isn't.

Every creative midfielder would struggle in this painfully average squad of players.

This is still a team with no pattern of attack, no outlet on the right wing, making it very easy for defending teams to focus on stifling the left side usually occupied by Shaw, Martial and Pogba.

We will probably hound him out and champion for Mctominay to play his minutes. And wonder why we aren't catching up to City.

I see we're still blaming anyone but him for his performances then.
He was great when Ole joined, he needs to reach that level again now.

That's nonsense. Not every midfielder is a controlling midfielder. There are midfielders with different roles.

Funny stat is, when Paul pogba actually controlled games in the world cup they won the world cup, and when he does not at united we are no where near winning any top title.
