Maybe I am missing something, but 2 goals usually means you can overlook some negatives right? He was not perfect but worked hard and won us the game, with the way we were playing we needed penalties to score and he did.
I'm not considering the 2 goals when I say he played well. It wasn't amazing of course but our whole team was trash anyway. You can see he wanna release the ball forward but nobody moves, then he doesn't wanna play it back which can sometimes lead to him losing the ball stupidly. 2 things have to change, movement in front and him passing it back if nobody creates a passing opportunity

Dont need stats to see who the better team was. As on Wednesday, we were utterly dominated yet again. Disgusting "performances". Pogba was marginally better but he hasnt shown the same willingness since the Liverpool game.

 what does this have to do with someone claiming he was nonexistent defensively? that's clearly not true and the stats were posted to show his defensive contribution. are you guys feeling ok?

It feels like we are saying the same thing as last season. Rashford is the only one that gives him runs consistently, Martial is a statue and Lukaku makes most of his runs from the right. Mata and Lingard might as well be useless in that department.

He instinctual play can be very poor. So often he takes a touch too many and loses an opportunity for a shot or pass then loses the ball completely. That first penalty was shit too, goal or not. It was right where all his saved pens have been - to the left of centre. Keeper should've done his research. Overall though just about ok.

Mata and Lingard were hiding from the ball when we needed some openings, they come for the ball when it is too easy.

100%. Whenever somebody makes a good forward run he ALWAYS plays it when possible. I just don’t understand why people hate our players so much? It’s baffling.

there’s a bunch of people you can criticise first before even looking at pogba. My god this thread would have been on fire if he missed one of those pens.

I think the issue is some have a personal dislike of Pogba's social media stuff and they let it taint their perception of his performances. I mean today when you look at this thread and then see our own fans camped in Rice's thread getting gassed about him it's cringey, we won and Pogba took us over the line while also putting in a defensively good display, yet so little credit is given.

I didn't watch the game, and I am glad if he played well, because we need him to fecking start playing again if we want to have at least decent ending of the season. It's quite obvious that we are depending of individual performances from the likes of Pogba, Rashford, etc., so they better start playing at decent level again.

I like how his fans are convincing us that he was amazing and adding the words like "again", "best in the team again", "MOTM again", etc. like his good performances are consistent, when in reality he hardly had decent game in almost two months. But keep on convincing yourself, if we keep on insisting he is so good, maybe we can convince ourselves that he is also best player in the world after convincing ourselves that he is the best midfielder in the world. All while we are playing as a team worse and worse with him being in the centre of our play.

The fact this thread only has 2 more pages since he played speaks wonders. The knives are away until Tuesday it seems!

The same people will completely ignore how shit Lingard has been and will defend him saying he's a local lad from Warrington..
The manager has even went to praise his defensive job and workrate but only here is he 'non existent defensively'. It's like they llive in some alternate reality.
Plus enjoyed to see him giving a pep talk to the players. A real leader.

He needs to up his game in the big games in the business end of the season - starting with the Barca game on Tuesday.

My stream pretty died at halftime, so I only have the first half to go on, but I thought Pogba looked quite good. Scored a coolly-taken penalty and seemed to be working hard. Martial, on the other hand, and Mata (breaks my heart to say it,) looked awful. This team needs a real injection of quality.

Pogba is taking out all pace of the United attack by being so slow on the ball. Frustrating to watch.

a) Nonsense b) Lingard was worse c) What’s your point?
The point is, people like you only target Pogba and Martial like you've quite predictably done again after the game. But you then excuse Lingard and have defended him in the past due to him being a local lad which is nonsense..

No white text?
Bang average performance, penalties aside. So bored of watching him slow everything down, time and time again. Non existent defensively too. As usual.
Completely agree, it was the same performance as Barca. A 'not good, not bad' kind of performance and I also didn't really see increased work rate or leadership performance beyond icing and slaying a couple of cool penalties which he deserves credit for. He like you mentioned further on really is a turnstyles of a player and I don't think that will ever be rectified. We simply must bring in two absolutely top of the pile DM's to always play as one in a three whenever Pogba is on the field so he can stay up and never have to do any defensive work. Other than that I don't see him working out long term for the club in all honesty.

Just on the discourse in the thread, I think it is a thread derailment mechanism. Instead of having a discussion and people giving their opinions a select few just cropdust the thread then people round up the stragglers and post aggressive thread derailing nonsense to take the focus off him and move the discussion away from his performances, thus you rarely get people giving their opinion on him. I'd be surprised to see a show of hands of people who don't bother with him. I don't think I've really seen any more unusual behavior, I would be surprised if it happened to any other top player if we signed them.

Like or dislike him, the outrage crew vying for attention after every performance is nauseating.

He is very annoying when he starts shouting at others and flailing his arm around. This is usually what frustrated footballers do when they don't play well.

I thought he was poor today. Gave the ball away so many times and was often in the wrong position and couldn't stop the west Ham midfielders enough.

Good that he scored both penalties though. Although the rest of his game was not as good as it has been.

We won so I know people will be much more positive after wins, but overall we lost the midfield against them. They had more chances and possesion as well and we got lucky with the win really.

Pogba was a big part of the problem even if the team overall did play poorly. There seem to be very poor chemistry between Pogba and the other players. He somtimes can spot Rashfords runs, but there is nothing between him and Lingard, Martial and Lukaku really.

Pogba was both good and bad...like always but the bolded bit is absolutely on the coach.

Losing possesion, lack of off the ball movement, long balls from the back, poor distribution from the keeper, absolute crap from the attack etc etc is all on the manager.

At the moment, it seems like OGS is trying let the players erm play it out and not overload them with instructions, which seems straight out of Fergie's book. The difference was that he had quality all around the pitch and threw down the hammer regularly.

I want to see OGS have an absolute go at the team when these things happen but it's all a bit too sterile. The team needs a very clear tactic and coaching. The natural talent of the players can only go so far.

Amazing the stick this guy is getting after a really good performance. He and Fred were the lone positives playing on an island of misfits today. They both did tons of work in midfield and put in massive efforts with no movement and very little options ahead of them.

Thought it was captain material. A real positive that Ole is getting him to put such shifts in from a deeper position.

Was good today, I would say for the first time since February. But he was good, silly to argue otherwise

On one hand it makes me want Pogba to leave just to see all the people on here cry about coming 10th next year and then realise he was the only one holding the team together but then on the other hand that would mean we would be even more shiter and i don't want to see that.

If i was him surrounded by dross such as Mata, Lingard, Lukaku, Martial (when he isnt trying), Jones, Smalling and i got blamed for not carrying the team every single game having to do it all whilst always being underappreciated by certain fans, i'd really take a long hard look and question if there was any point in staying. Especially when i knew i was the only reason this team was any good and i could get into a proper team's midfield, probably make similar amounts of money, play with miles better players and most importantly win things.

A lot of people need to really question where their alliances lie. This team as it is right now without Pogba is mid table at best.

Yeah but like half of them was penalties. Why couldn't he do it from open play like other midfielders? Quite poor still

Amazing isn't it? Many used to say he should be like Lampard ignoring how many penalties he used to take, now that Pogba started to take, it's "yeah he scored goals but penalties" is used.

Hello footballing twin. We finally meet.

 Nope.

He wasn’t poor but he was certainly average. I mean he’s still our most talented player by a country mile, so I have high expectations. I’m just so sick of his constant dilly dallying on the ball. Does my head in.

Again, this!

Lingard is poor! He is nowhere near Pogba's ability.

Apologies for expecting more

So you both agree Lingard is poor, but then ignore this when there's a chance to abuse Pogba. As others have said, if Pogba drops deep to pick a pass up from our CB's and turns to try pick a player out, you do realize one of his options is the player you both say is feckin dreadful, Lingard?

His others options yesterday? A piss poor Martial in one of his worst United performances to date and who is often statue still and couldn't beat a near 40 year old fullback in Zabaletta. Lukaku god love him just ran out to the RW time and time again and in turn offered nothing with his crosses. His efforts were every bit as bad as Young recently.

How in the blue hell is any of that on Pogba?

Neither of you clearly have a clue about transitions within a game and moving the ball from defence to offence. Pogba is that lynch pin in our side most matches and has a huge amount of pressure on him to continually deliver every single game, which is pretty unrealistic considering our standing as a team. We have so many players that are under performing around him as well.

I actually think he has been okay in the last two matches. The front three in both of the last two matches have been dogshit. There are actual criticisms on his performances against Wolves but he was clearly working very hard yesterday and against Wolves.

Certainly can't complain about his numbers. 30 goals and assists is incredible. Numbers wise, you could argue that he should be nominated for POTY. But he can most certainly improve. Those first three games of Ole's reign highlighted just how good Pogba can be. Everything went through him and he managed 2 assists, 2 goals and 2 goals and an assist against Cardiff, Huddersfield and Bournemouth.

When Pogba is at his utmost best, so are we. When Pogba is shit, so are we.

He has had 10 penalties though. Missed 3, but scored one from the rebound.

I don't give Lingard critical assessments because I know he's shite. Pogba has the ability and he can be amazing, hence why I care

But sure what does it matter what I say? You've already concluded that I know nothing about football so why do you care?

Unless that's another excuse for Pogba?
Hard to know these days...

So, a few pages ago, I was shameless because I mentioned game reviews, now you bring some random journo tweet as proof he had a good game?? Irony no doubt lost on you. Shameless.

No. I merely agree with his opinion, I’m not using it in an argument nor to justify mine.
