I've backed Ole since the start, it's been obvious what he's been trying to do, the only question mark being if he was setting the structure for the next manager to benefit from or if he'd be the one that could take it on a level when the team balance was in a better place.
As for Pogba, if he commits to the club I'd have no problem bringing him back in to the fold. It's like if Ronaldo had decided he wanted to stay, or much like when Rooney felt we weren't being ambitious enough. Footballers look after themselves first and foremost, in much the same way clubs do. And for one of the best midfielders in the world at the moment to be out of the CL and not competing for titles you can understand the reasons he'd want to move on.
Now if we're close to building a team to get back to the top and he sees the ambition matches his and decides 'yeah I can get behind this' then course you keep him. Because we're not going to bring in anyone with similar qualities for less than we sell him for.
Yet again though, he hasn't personally done anything.
Raiola IS a massive cnut, but he's like that with every club, it's just the type of man he is. Don't forget he started throwing chairs around the Borussia Dortmund board room when they wouldn't sell us Mkhitaryan.
Pogba hasn't publically said anything bad apart from stating he might want a new challenge - he was upset at the end of the season for being blamed.
And if he did come out and commit to the club and the project under Ole, I could feel different. But he hasn't and doesn't look like doing so.
Raiola is a dick and other agents can be to other clubs. But agitating for a move is one thing and personally attacking a legend of our club is another. Pogba letting that go was damning for me and the fact he's let it go so long without reigning his agent back in, or clarifying his position on the matter means he would need to go a long way to make amends at this stage.
It's all well and good bringing up Dortmund, but they are a renowned selling club. You might be happy for United to be seen as the same but I'm not and I never will be. I want every player at United to feel like he's playing for the greatest club in the world and anyone who feels anything less has no business being here. Pogba is a quality talent but we don't
need him because we don't
need any individual. One of our greatest ever sides had Carrick, Cleverley and Anderson in a midfield. Liverpool are the best side in Europe with Henderson and Wijnaldum in their midfield.
This current United need leadership, commitment, workrate and desire every bit as much as we need talent. Talent on it's own gets you nowhere.
