If you haven’t played it The Artful Escape is a nice and easy few hours to play through.
Thanks. It's on my to-play list :D

I'm not quite liking Ashen. It's like the indie folk version of Dark Souls

Returnal is both amazing and annoying at the same time. Just went on a hour and a half long run and then got locked with a powered up hostile while I had a couple of malfunctions and killed. Hour and a half down the drain.

That's why I'm both excited and wary of this game.

Biome 3 is extremely difficult, thinking of quitting the game at this point.
As someone who has completed the game, Biome 3 is probably the hardest. In fact, I think it's generally accepted to be the hardest. Biome 5 is difficult, but by the time you get there you're a lot better at the game and you can get some really powerful weapons. Biome 3 is in that spot where you're still learning a lot about the game, and the difficulty ramps up considerably. I would say, stick with it, and if you can get past that then that should give you the confidence to carry on.

Those missile drones are infuriating.

Boss is pretty easy in 3 but mostly agree. It adds a lot mechanics in terms of enemy attacks that take a bit of getting used to. I think the game starts rock hard and gets a tiny bit easier each run. By the time you've seen all the biome its difficulty is a lot more reasonable.

Struggling so much with Biome 3, basically done with it because of this. The boss i have managed to get to the next stage once.

I did Biome 3 boss first time (despite bricking it before hand). Only advice is to to take your time with the runs on the build up, but luck does massively play a part. I had an insane amount of health when I got there!

Biome 4 was more of a nightmare (although the boss was both interesting and awesome) but now I struggle getting through Biome 4 just to get back to Biome 5

I found the bosses in the game quite easy in general. The most I died to a boss in the game was three times. The last boss I beat on my first go. I genuinely thought there was going to be another phase because I got through it mostly unscathed. It was the actual biomes I thought were really difficult. Biome 3 and Biome 5 drove me nuts.

Yeah, it's difficult. The only thing I can say is to spend a bit of time in Biome 1 and get some integrity upgrades. Also, as another poster said, take your time and kill enemies from a distance. Astronaut Figurines are also handy if you can get them to give you a second chance.

Returnal is such a great game, but I gave up with it. The decision to make it into a roguelike is a disappointing one and it's simply too demoralising to play, purely for the fact that you can die during a very long play session and lose all of your progress, items gained, and so on. The sessions end up being too long. It's not really respectful of the player's time and I don't like that whole idea of having to dedicate so much time to getting to the end of a game, especially when it can be so utterly punishing. It's a shame. The world design is beautiful, the graphics are lovely, the sound is outstanding, the gunplay is really fun, and I love the atmosphere. But, I dropped it pretty early on as I could see that this would be a game that I'd grow to hate later on.

It seems like a game that's made for a very selective audience, which...is fine. But, at the same time, not really. No real need for this to be a roguelike with absurd run lengths. The fact that this game was shipped without the save/suspend/pause function is hilariously alarming, in my opinion.

Have to agree. The difficulty curve is backwards and a severe shortcoming.

I don't see why a game needs to have such a long loop for progression. At least the Souls games make up for it by frequent bonfires. I'd hate to spend a long time feeling I've wasted time even though the game sounds exciting to me.

Me too, although I have only encountered the two so far! Both of them took about three tries before I got used to their attack patterns and was able to kill them off. Obviously having an astronaut figurine helps (they should spawn more of those in the game, allow you to have two or three at a time like the consumables). The annoying bit is that I must have gone through the first Biome about a hundred times already, it just gets boring going through it and trying to level up.

So just finished the Last of Us and decided to splurge on PS Extra (£8 for 3 months) and wondering what games to play? Death Stranding, Spiderman, GoT, any of the Yakuza... I'm all ears. Looking for a good single player experience really and will stay away from Returnal after reading loads of posts about it. It's just going to annoy me.

Last of Us Part 2?
God of War, Final Fantasy Remake are worth a play. A lot of good third party stuff, dont know how much you've played of them?

Yeah, I'd say go for Spider-Man. Death Stranding and the Yakuzas are long.

I didn't find Last of Us part 2 on extra as a 'free' game, is it on there?

I've played God of War and liked it a lot. Never played a single FF game, don't even know much about them.

Might start with Spiderman then, best to start with the first one? Both worth to play?

It isn't. Start with the first one then play Miles Morales. Not played MM yet but it's apparently an improvement over the original

Yeah its a bit more polished. Original is a bit wonky at times, camera freaks out a bit more, characters gets stuck on corners and obstacles a bit more. Stuff like that

I downloaded the three Mafia games. Currently playing the 1st one, loving it to be honest. The amount of free games is ridiculous in my opinion.

I did try out AO 2 for a few games but got kind of annoyed and bored straight away. Would love a good tennis game.

First one is by far the best. Second is fairly OK though not remastered as well and was a worse game in the first place, third gets boring very quickly and has one of the worst mission structures in gaming. Aside from music and setting in New Orleans it does not really have much going for it. It's a missed opportunity.

I really recommend Insurgency: Sandstorm for people who like FPS but want something a bit more realistic than COD.

https://store.playstation.com/en-gb/product/EP4133-CUSA07668_00-INSURGENCYSANDST
(There isn't a dedicated PS5 version, but the graphics are not the selling point of this game).

It has become perhaps my most played game. It sits nicely between COD and Hell Let Loose (which is even more realistic but also much slower-paced and a steeper learning curve).

You can play either PvP or PvE – I usually lay PvE so you have a team of up to 8 humans tasked with capturing objectives from the AI. They are very challenging, and you only respawn if your team takes the current objective. And you can be killed with a singl shot, so you have to be more cautious in your approach – running and gunning will get you killed instantly.

All the weapons are available from the off (I think you unlock every specialisation once you hit level 2) so nothing is locked behind a grind or paywall.

Would love to play with some of the old regulars on here – @DatIrishFella @Big-Red @One Night Only @Marksy7 @Damien

I'm in! I love PvE cos atleast I have a chance of not dying within 4.2 seconds. Usually last atleast 10.

Ps plus premium and deluxe line ups are decent. Nothing special but will do.

Deathloop
Spiritfairer
Chicory
Sly games
Watch Dogs 2

Would probably be ones worth playing for me. Still a few top many filler games this month.

Spiritfarer is worth a play, very chilled and pleasant game (despite the premise)

Oh, awesome. I've been wanting to play this for a while and give it a go. Not the biggest Arcane fan, but this game was getting rave reviews when it came out. Definitely going to be downloading this.

So, the Last of Us remake sounds like it could be worthwhile and has had a lot of effort put into it with only a couple of caveats. I really don't want to spend the money on it again, so will probably wait until it's a bit cheaper but it's tempting...

The Last Of Us Pt 1 remake review: Higher-fidelity blood, sweat, and tears | Ars Technica
It seems like an excellent remake/remaster with stellar visuals, animations and audio design and a wealth of accessibility and customization settings. Unfortunately, Sony have pretty much doomed its public reception with that ridiculous price point.
Even at €39.99 I would've waited for a sale, but at least that would've been palatable. €79.99 is just farcical. Can't fault the people at Naughty Dog for that though, this is all on Sony and that twat Jim Ryan.

Think I'll pick it up this weekend.

You got the newest sniper elite yet @swooshboy (think it was you who I played through some of the last one with)
