That was a shambolic win. Our defending has never looked so awful without us conceding. It was a miracle we were still in the game by half time. But we did settle and took advantage of our chances to mug a result off them.

Credit to the players for dealing with the constant injuries to our defence and just getting on with it. Most importantly we owe De Gea big time. He would have been flawless tonight, but for letting that Giroud volley through.

The first half half were terrible but it was down to our injury situation. We have to field a couple of kids at the back who can't handle being pressed or distribute and we couldn't build anything from the back so kept inviting pressure. If our backline were more experienced and could play the ball out the first half hour would have been much different. Our defense were like deers in headlights to begin with but grew into the game.

That Giroud goal really pissed me off. We feel asleep on a simple ball over the top, which was essentially their game plan since he came on. Can't believe how daft we were there. Also how the feck did Di Maria miss that chance, stuff like that horrendous.

Wilshere should have been off I feel, some pretty poor officiating on that part from Dean.

All in all, its a relieving win. Hopefully Shaw is okay and we can have more players back by the next match.

De Gea Man of the Match once again.

A shambolic win is preferable to a shambolic loss (Leicester).

Van Gaal and your team still don't worry me.

I'd like to see your team deal with 40 injuries considering Sturridge being injured has pretty much broken your team.

Under the circumstances it was an astonishing win.

I want to start this off by saying yes, I know we're shite too. If you want to reply, please don't just reply saying we're shite too - I know we are.

De Gea is a one man wall. He was brilliant. He made save after save and kept you in that match. Thought Smalling was very good and Blackett was poor. He looks bad on the ball. I don't think your midfield played well and I thought Arsenal controlled the game. Nearly all of your chamces came on the counter. Di Maria played very well and he's proving me wrong as I thought he was an unnecessary signing. It's incredible how much Van Persie has declined. He looks awful.

Dean was awful. Arse should have had a penlty and your first goal was offside. It evened out though as Rooney was onside on the attack immediately after the goal and Wilshere should have been sent off.

Van Gaal and your team still don't worry me.

A win is a win at the end of the day though.

Haha. It's always about your team huh? Even in a match without your team.

Considering the circumstances, it was an incredible win.
Valencia, Blackett, McNair and Young was part of our defense. Our squad is down to bare bones and yet we defeated a team who finished 4th last season. Any Red who is still complaining about the performance needs to get a grip.
I'm thinking the opposite, K. Any red complimenting the performance is confused. The result should be a fantastic fillip.

It really fecks me off when pundits, the so called experts, always refer to good luck when a team gives away chances but doesn't concede. How about giving the fecking goalkeeper some credit?

All three of these pricks on Sky have bleated on about how we were lucky and could have been 3 down after 20 minutes, well we weren't because our goalkeeper is better than their strikers, that's not luck that's being better, the keeper is part of the team, everything he does isn't just bad luck for the other side.

Tossers.

Many things to laugh at tbh.
Smalling's legendary miss
Valencia creating a goal
Young looking like Ribery
ADM's finish
Arsenal chances in the first half.

I cannot wait to see my buddy tomorrow.
Valencia wasn't even trying to create a goal. It was his normal routine. Collect the ball, cross, hit the first man. Repeat. And today Gibbs showed up.

Apart from the first 25 minutes, I think the rest of the match played up to our usual matches against Arsenal. Let them fanny around with ball and then score against them on counter-attack.

Performance wasn't ideal but considering the injuries, I'd take that 100% percent.

THe fact we won hurts them a lot.

This seems fair enough. No idea why you're getting stick for it. Most here would agree with each of the statements individually, except perhaps the one opinion about LvG, which is still far from unreasonable.

Edit: Well, the penalty shouts were a bit more dubious.

indeed.

Carrick and Smalling excellent, Young and de Gea very good, Valencia OK,.....

But our play, horrible, I have know idea how we managed to win this game, but thank God we did.

To be honest I didn't expect this starting line-up after our summer action, so I'm not to bothered about our performance at the moment as long as the points come in. But instead of complaining about our injuries like some fans of other clubs do...cough...Stur...cough...ridge...cough, I'm pleased seeing some unexpected performances of players that usually would never have played for us again like Fellaini, Young or Valencia.

But you're right not to be worried about us, you should just be worried about Brenda and your bunch.

Winning bizarre games is a mark of character, and always ends upbeing relevant somehow when all the points are added up in the end...

Let's not drag this into Liverpool discussion.

Very lucky today! But we were unlucky on other days and came away with nothing.

Before we were shite and were not getting points. At least now we're shite but getting points. Still, really disappointing to watch us these days.

Any tactics that allow three clear chances in the first half aren't good tactics.
Don't go there, Barney. According to your logic, Brenda's tactics weren't good last year...and that was probably your most successful in a while...

But you're right, no more Liverpool in this thread

Guys. I've been p*ssed off after a lot of our games this season but this isn't a game to be p*ssed off about anything. We've won away against Arsenal with half a squad. In light of that this is a brilliant days work and nothing else. Stop moaning and whining. This is a massive result. The performance is irrelevant. Let's move on to next weekend.

This game showed us that Rooney has to play upfront. As much as I like Van Persie but he needs to be dropped. No movement, no contribution, absolutely invisible. Even Fellaini has a better season so far than him.

Imagine that was RVP instead of Rooney for the second goal :nervous:
