We need to win either the CL or PL to attract Haaland here. He will have the pick of clubs to choose from, I don't think he will compromise on silverware potential of his next club. We need him much more than he needs us. Rice, meh.

I'll be very surprised if Haaland is a Utd player this time next year. Unless Ronaldo flops ala Alexis fashion it's very hard to see how you can keep both him and Haaland happy due to their superstar status and massive egos, none of them will want to be 2nd choice STs unless hell breaks loose. Then there's Greenwood who's supposed to be our future No9 getting Haaland essentially kills off any chance of him making it at Utd in that position and we're yet to look at financials with Haaland likely to earn something similar or close to Ronaldo.
Rice on the other hand I can definitely see happening despite Chelsea's interest. We've beaten them to bidding wars for 2 players who were "Chelsea fans" in Lukaku and Luke Shaw I can see our patience of waiting for Rice paying off and he'll be a very good signing. I see him the same way I saw Maguire overpriced(Rice will cost approximately £70-80m IMO) but a very important and solid player in a position we desperately need an upgrade. Him being just 23 next year is an added bonus since he guarantees 8-10 years of service

The main thing against Haaland is that we've signed Ronaldo who will most likely still be our main guy next season.

If we win something this year and Ole stays, I can see Haaland coming as long as his wages aren't as ridiculous as reported in the media.
I don't see why Ronaldo couldn't go to either wing I don't think rotating our wings next year will be such a bad thing. And Rashford and Sancho are still young its not like they wont get their chance in the future. Greenwood would be the one who suffers but you never know how things shake out. I don't think Ronaldo stays past 2 years to be honest.

If you don't see why Ronaldo can't "rotate" on the wings then you've clearly not been watching Ronaldo over the last 4/5 years. He doesn't have the legs to play out wide anymore he's completely transformed his game into a Poacher type of ST putting him out wide would be extremely counter productive not just for him but the team. He could do a job on the wing maybe for some games but over the course of a season he's far far far more suited playing through the middle

They don't, Ronaldo plays mostly as a CF these days, his times as a winger are long gone.
Dont think we'll be able to use Rashford and Greenwood as 4th and 5th choice players next season in that front 3. They'll be 3rd and 4th choice, always starting or rotating with one of the starters. I just don't see any feasibility with Haaland.
People who put Rice at the top of the list for our DM signing need to watch more football.

It's about the mix of the front 3. Ronaldo plays more and more as a central striker anyway. Greenwood progressing there. You think after another full season that we'd be able to have 3 players ahead of Greenwood and Rashford and them play limited minutes? Not a chance. We will pick 2 of those 2 and Sancho to be starting alongside Ronaldo whenever he is fit and fresh, with likely Martial, Amad and whoever else providing further depth. Neither of Rashford or Greenwood will want to be pushed back in the pecking order any further than 3rd/4th choice rotation, pretty much ever.

Start going through realistic options then? Rice is a bigger need than Haaland is now that we have Ronaldo. It's pretty simple. Tchouameni is another one. But many clubs want many players so we won't necessarily get our pick.
Rice could be a possibility, but I don't think we stand a chance with Haaland. PSG will be after him after losing Mbappe and so will Real Madrid after signing Mbappe for free. There will also be competition from City and Bayern.

I don't understand why people think Ronaldo will hamper our chances of signing Haaland. A lot can happen in a year and Cavani will likely leave. Stop being sentimental, there's nothing wrong benching a 37y old Ronnie. Pogba will also leave so there's plenty of chances for our 3 brilliant wingers to play on the wing. I'm hopeful Ronnie will contribute, but it's not a given he'll put in Kane like numbers and be undroppable in his second year.

Not sure if I want Haaland tbh. Amazing player but Raiola would make absurd demands keep shooting his mouth if he sign him and would threaten to transfer him out every season. Dont know if he's worth the hassle.

Ronaldo hampers our chances for Haaland because that's just how squad building works. Your kidding yourself if you think Ronaldo won't put up great numbers, it's fecking Ronaldo. Ignore the age, he does it every year in every competition still. Scored 36 goals in all competitions last season for a struggling Juve team. In addition to him, we'll have Rashford, Sancho, Greenwood, Martial, Amad after Cavani goes next summer. Rashford, Sancho and Greenwood are all #2, 3 and 4 guys after Ronaldo being the main. They aren't going to be pushed down the pecking order, especially with their expected improvement due to their ages. Haaland would be a 21 year old expecting to start every single game. No squad works like that where you just stock up players. We can't have all the good players.
For the DM's, Rice is actually a very good defensive midfielder. He's brilliant at the defensive side of things and on the ball he's very secure with his touch and holding the ball, but not a progressive passer which is fine given our other players. If we keep Pogba, the only hope of our midfield working is someone like Rice. I agree Ndidi is also excellent.
Neves is average. Brozovic isn't all that. Bissouma is good. Paredes is average and not the type of player we need anyway. De Jong is entirely unrealistic, Barca is building around him and Pedri.

I think it is a good dream to have and I have the same dream but I don't believe our owners one bit. I think we managed to have a decent window only because we had a crappy one last time and the money we paid for Sancho was already earmarked for him and and we underpaid. The remaining amount went into paying for Varane. We bought a free agent in Heaten. Therefore according to me, we didn't spend a great deal and I highly doubt they'll come forth and spend on both Haaland and Rice in the same window. Moreover it also depends on our position at the end of the season. Rice costs 100 now and maybe 70-75 next summer unless he has another great season but there will just be 1 season left on his contract and he'll go for less. Haaland has a 75 mil Euros buyout which would mean 150 mil Euros in total and I don't think we'll do that, so you better make your peace with that now.What’s our chance to sign both Rice and Haaland next year? Would these signings make us unstoppable?

Why would I ignore his age when he's already adapted his game due to his age? It's going to be 2 years down the line from the Juve season you mentioned, which is in a weaker league. He's obviously looking to start most of the games this season, but at his age making assumptions about the next season just isn't wise.
I don't see the players you mentioned as being relevant. Haaland is a pure no 9, Ronnie as well nowadays, while Greenwood has had his best performances on the wing and thinking he's going to be a no 9 of their caliber within one year is just an assumption.

I believe this would depend a lot on Ronaldo's ambitions. Would he be content being the experienced mentor, while Haaland leads the line in actual matches? If yes I can see Haaland agree to that scenario, if both want to play as CF having both in the squad would be a disaster.
Haaland will go to City - their transfer strategy changed this summer and I would expect them to now sign £100m players regularly (previously they would sign two £50m players).
