Looking at the schedule Simone Biles should be on around 18:45 today in the Vault final. That should be something to see.

Ruptured elbow ligament for Thiam. Surely will effect her running, even by a tiny margin.

I'm just hoping.
She had this injury throughout the competition. She picked it up at the javelin event on the Belgian national championships a few weeks before the Olympics started, where she threw 52m for the first time.

It didn't bother her for most events, only the shot put and especially the javelin throwing was going to be a problem. She knew she would only have one throw with the javelin because of the pain. She didn't warm-up and just hoped for that first and only throw to be good enough.

I can see Thiam dominating for the next few years.

Yeah, she gave the gold medal to Ennis before the long jump had even ended.

Under a tree.
Just Fran Halsell's race, must be gutting, six hundredths of a second from gold and not even get a medal. At the time, though she probably did even know, she was leading for 45 metres of the race..

The only thing that could hold Thiam back is her mental. Physically she's got it all.

Watching these seven women together in the front of the marathon doesn't do justice to the pace. It's when you look at the side and see fit humans trying to keep up and most can only do so for a few hundred yards. It's amazing.

The North Korean marathoners did all the race exactly side by side and finished in the same second (10th and 11th) requiring photo finish.

@Mrs Smoker , you probably have done it already, but could you explain those medal tables? I can tell the first 3 are gold/silver/bronze, but fail to understand what the second 3 are.

@Arruda

Forgot to tag you in previous post.

And this is overall number of medals, and other placements.

139 events 140 - 140 - 153 / 123 - 166 - 121

Uneven numbers are because of...

One swimming event had double gold medals.
One swimming event had triple silver medals.
One swimming event had two bronze medals.
One swimming event had two 5th places.
And one swimming event had two 6th places.

Judo for each category gives two bronze medals, and two competitors share 5th place.

In tennis and table tennis defeated quarter-finalists share fifth place.

Can someone help me out with when the 100m semis and finals are? Looks like Brazil has multiple timezones and Google's not being helpful in stating which timezone theyre showing the times in.

Fantastic result. I know nothing about gymnastics but sounds like we have another medal chance in the pommel?

Only caught some of Del Potro-Nadal and a bit of the cycling last night. What else did I miss?
