There's a lot of reasons to believe we were more than willing to let him go but no club worthy of his inflated ego would take him.
Who offered to take him and also take his wage?
To sell a player you need three things. A club willing to sell, a club willing to buy and a the player wanting to go to that club that is willing to buy him.

The only clubs wanting Ronaldo were clubs from the middle east. No serious club in the CL wanted him and those are the clubs that he wants.
? Guy us desperate to leave and has been for ages now. There were plenty of reports of us not willing to let him go (for obvious commercial reasons). It shouldn't be our concern which club he would go to, we should have cancelled the contract by mutual consent and moved on.

Trying to think about this as fairly as possible, if Hag had told him something like "you'll coming be on with 25 mins to go" and then ignored him until minute 89, he's kinda justified in being pissed off, right?
If ETH told him that then he's a naive manager. Sub should be made largely based on how the match unfolds, rather than to placate a selfish, glory hunting player.

What are you basing that on?
If I had to guess , Goldbridge.

He's been repeating that point alot over the past 24 hours.

Saying that "There were plenty of clubs willing to sign him" and later following it up with "They just weren't willing to pay for him".

Big call from the manager and he’s 100% right to do it. The message has been made that there is only one man in charge.

Fair play to the club, they're doing the right thing backing the manager to handle it his way

so he refused to come on? Thought it made no sense that ten hag would send him out to warm up and not bring him on. Was funny listening to them speak after the game and evra was trying to defend Ronaldo by saying he could of asked Ten Hag for all we know and then Ten Hag comes out and they asked him and he said he didn’t speak to Ronaldo

I'd be very surprised and disappointed to see him play for us again.

Wonder if Rio will change his tune now that it's come to light that Ronaldo refused to be subbed-in before he walked out on the team?

Rio's been embarassing himself recently with his support of Cristiano irrespective of his actions.

Didn't realise he refused to come on! Er you're employed by the club do what you're told! Most of us would be sacked if we refused to follow orders from our managers

There were young players on the bench, what sort of example is he, a senior player, setting to them?

Good to see a firm line being taken and it not being swept under the carpet as it would with previous managers. Nice to see some standards being set at last and players not being allowed to run the club.

Delighted. If he does ever come back into the team (I hope we don’t need him again, he’s pretty terrible from a team play and overall morale standpoint)he needs to toe the line and muck in. Some chance of that happening though. Just mutually terminate his contract. We should have done that during the summer but maybe ETH wanted to take a good look, who really knows?

It's not really to placate, it's a good plan to have Ronaldo be able to focus on just a 30 min burst to run while moving Rashford to the left where we would be countering from.

Yea he needs to be suspended yesterday, that sort of primadonna selfish bullshit is exactly why no one around Europe wanted him. Added with the fact that he's losing it on the pitch
Does he still gets paid after a move like that? Surely not?
Can't wait to get rid of him, he puts a stink on the place.

It would be foolish to plan with such certainty about substitutions when you don’t know how the game is going to pan out. If we are hanging on to a victory, the need to bring on Ronaldo is very little considering he isn’t going to offer much in pressing or defending.

Yes, calling Southgate's tenure as England manager shit would be a dumb thing to say too. Well identified.
Anyone who thinks Southgate isnt a shit manager for England is definitely challenged in understanding the game

Despite the noise right now, I think this is good for us. It will enable Ten Hag to draw a line in the sand and give him the reason he needed to relegate Ronaldo to the periphery of the squad, which is clearly to the benefit of the team.

No he's not. If he was desperate to leave he'd have taken a pay cut and moved to a lower league. Literally all offers his agent was shopping him around for included us paying part of his salary. I'm pissed that people refuse to acknowledge this fact. There are no commercial reasons for keeping him. Its only that we're not willing to subsidize him to play for someone else.

We all love United
And we had some people telling us he is the most professional player in the world to ever play this sport. What an utterly dislikable and narcissistic character

And then we’re supposed to believe the bollocks that he loves the club and the fans. Funnily enough his fan boys will still have an excuse for this!

How is it a good plan to promise to bring a player on at a certain time when you have no idea how the match will play out?
