What use is a goal scorer in a team where the players can't pass or cross well? What exactly will Osimhen do while Garnacho is cutting inside for his 5th skied shot of the match? Or when someone has to drop deep because nobody can pass anything through the middle for an entire game?

He doesn't have that in his locker. He can't create for himself, which is the exact problem we currently have. Osimhen would be great at Arsenal or Liverpool, but would be nowhere near as good as Sesko or Gyokeres here.
Osimhen would probably be the best striker you could get in terms of feeding off scraps and getting himself a few goals. It doesn't really matter though because it sounds like he's very much outside of our budget and we've already begun looking elsewhere.

If we do win Europa, I think it'll be Delap because we can get him for the cheap clause. I don't think he'll really be much better than what we have now, but I can envisage a scenario where that happens and we look to sign a better player up front next summer instead.

Our problem is not having a striker that doesn't create for himself. Our problem is having a striker that is unable to finish the chances we provide, and one that anticipates chances and crosses a tad too slow. Osimhen certainly has weaknesses, but movement and finishing isn't it. It would certainly help having a striker that is world class aerially, and can actually hold up the ball. We put in many passes and crosses into the box, the problem is that our striker just isn't there, or is too slow to react. We have decent crossers in Bruno, Casemiro, Shaw and Dorgu is putting in some nice ones too. Garnacho won't be a starter next season, as Cunha is looking likely to replace him.

It's impossible to predict who out of the three will do here, but it is more likely that Osimhen will be more of a success than Sesko who isn't exactly banging them in, despite playing in a two-striker formation. As for Thuram, he isn't close to Osimhen's level. I think it's fair to assume why when he was available for free, and Inter faced no competition.

Yeah I see it happening because of the cheap clause, like you say we will most likely have to go back in the market for experienced striker next summer unfortunately. Depends really then who is actually left on the table after Arsenal scousers and Chelsea have picked over.

I have not seen Jonathan Burkardt mentioned yet, 24 year old striker playing for Mainz who seems to be on Bayern's radar and they're looking to have him as a back-up to Kane. His compilation really, really impressed me, and he has 17 goals in Bundesliga this season. Quick, technically very good, great finisher and seems to have this nice agility and change of direction on him that is reminiscent of Agüero. Any Bundesliga watchers that can shed some light on him and if he is good enough/ready to make the step up?

Well you would think Vivell is going to be aware of him considering his Bundesliga connections

I’m oddly confident that the club are going to pull a good CF signing this summer out of the bag. Perhaps not an obvious candidate but a left field player that we’ve not discussed but will be happy with. It’s a hope, anyway!
I don’t watch much football outside the PL but I’ve seen enough of Delap to be disappointied if we sign him. Not sure he’s much of an upgrade on Hojlund.

Hard no. Decent player having a good season, but nowhere near the calibre we need.

If Osimhen goes to Saudi, Gyokeres goes to Arsenal and Delap goes to Chelsea, then what? I guess then we'll be looking at Mateta and Watkins, whose clubs will know we're absolute desperate for a striker and be able to rip us off. At that point, I think I'd rather take a relatively inexpensive punt from abroad than potentially paying close to £60m for one of those two.

Weren’t there rumours a month or so ago that we’re looking at some strikers from the French league?

Admire the belief

My vote would have been Osimhen but hes not on the list

Got removed as Ornstein said likely Saudi bound, no English clubs willing to meet huge wage demands

Current news has him more likely heading to Juve than Saudi

I would prefer a striker who has shown they can handle the PL, even if they are slightly outside the profile we need (as in, 28 instead of 25, etc.).

We can't keep betting the farm on players racking up goals in another league and assuming they can hack the PL. We're not in the diamonds in the rough aisle. We need a PL player who has already adapted to the league, sexy or not, and just gets us to the magical land of having a positive goal differential.

Too many examples to count of players burning up a league only to flop massively. Jozy Altidore 23 league goals in one season for AZ, moved to Sunderland, hit 1 goal in 42 appearances. Nunez: 32 goals in 57 games for Benfica, scored 25 goals in 93 for Liverpool.

Just as many examples of the opposite as well in the league tbf, it's always a crapshoot at the end of the day either way.

Much more prefer signing someone prolific rather than a long term project given where the club currently finds itself

I mean, I'd rather have Ollie Watkins or Wissa than Mystery Overseas Player who tore up some league that isn't the Prem. I think it's less of a crapshoot signing players who have proven their mettle in the league, versus buying players who haven't.

Yeah I would agree with that

We really don’t put lots of crosses into the box

Greenwood with 19 league goals... If he wasn't an idiot where would we stand today?

Tolu Arokodare might be an interesting option to look at. Rumoured that Bayern are sniffing around him as Kane's backup, with his price around €25m.

Big guy, great in the air but moves well and has decent technique. Good finisher with his feet too, a proper out and out striker. He's on 25 g/a in 38 matches for Genk this year.

Might be worth the gamble alongside a Delap type, assuming Hojlund is moved on somehow.

I wouldn’t mind Ollie Watkins, personally, since expensive figures will likely elude us this summer.

I'd go for Rodrygo & Delap.

We then get a LW & 2 ST in 2 transfers.
