Sum up the season

Happy with the progress that's been made considering the financial restrictions and limited time on the training pitch given the hectic schedule.

Happy for the break now. Just having to watch that many games has been exhausting, I can't imagine having to actually play all of them.

With a good window bringing in two-three starters (ST, CM, GK) and another three-four squad players/back-ups (ST, DM/CM, CB instead of Maguire, RB instead of AWB/Dalot) I think we'll be well equipped to push on to the next level, especially if those match the character of players EtH's brought in so far and fit his style of play. Hopefully 8-9 players out over the summer replaced by 6-7 would be doable if we start our business early. Just a little bit afraid that the ownership situation's going to feck our transfer window yet again.

better than expected. Finishing third and a trophy, but at the same time, I hate how we conduct our transfers both times & few goal differences. (and I hope we don’t make it a habit to lose big 7-0, 6-3 next season)

Been a decent season. Disappointed with Ronaldo and the January window. Team is still a work in progress. Even if we have top signings this summer - I think the mentality is still lacking.

Today 2-1 down, 10 mins to go, who had the fire? Who took risks? Who took the game by the scruff of the neck?

We had a long season and played more games than anyone else in the league which exposed some serious flaws; some of our players are lacking either skills or mental strength. However, we now know what we need and what we don't for next season. I would expect us to improve the squad but not really make a push for the title or CL for a while yet. We are in safe hands though with ETH, so a solid 7 from me.

Considering we only made one good signing in Martinez after a horrendous season, had no proper CF for, what, 90% of the season and had to deal with the Ronaldo drama, very promising.

This upcoming transfer window is do or die now, though. We have to sign some press resistant players to compliment ten Hag's coaching if we're to take the next step forward.

Good season over all where the number of games caught up with us and we somewhat limped over the finish line.

Players who I feel excelled for all or a good portion of the season: Martinez, Casimero, Garnacho, Dalot, Wan Bissaka, Varane, Shaw, Lindelof and Rashford.

Players who I feel disappointed/,underperformed: Maguire, De Gea, Mctominay, Martial, Sancho. I'll also add the board here as I feel they really let the team down in January by not backing ETH properly and then this farce of an ownership change.

I always ask myself that 12 months ago would I take this season, the answer can only be yes to that question.

Good season after the way last one ended and first 2 games. We have better identity on the pitch though attacking at times is weak and uncreative.

Pros:
- Champions League
- Cup win
- Maguire benched
- Rashford and Wan Bissaka improvement
- Good signings
- Old Trafford a fortress again
- Garnacho

Cons
- Ronaldo fiasco
- Poor form away from home
- Occasional trashing
- Sancho, Martial and De Gea (what are we going to do?)

I’d of probably took that at start of season, all in all quite happy but expect a lot more next season.

I was not sure whether to post this on here, or the other "It's been a good season" discussion. I suppose either.

Nevertheless, I feel after that second defeat to Brentford on that late summer's day that there have been signs of progress. On the field we needed to start building play with faster intensity, stronger physicality and a more defiant mentality. In Martinez, Casemiro and the resurgence of Rashford, we have managed to accomplish that-to an extent.

We have played more matches than most teams in Eurpoe with a thin squad. Not to mention injuries at various points. Varane's composure has been essential and it was suggested that he was 4th choice centre back at the beginning of the season. But he is injury prone.

I also felt that Ten Hag perhaps spread this squad thin over 4 competitions. He would have learned that this league is unforgiving. The defeats at Anfield, City and our record against top half teams was poor. As was the defeat in Seville.

Those losses not just point to physicality but also another key aspect. That is mentality. We are a team that can compete against the best, but we are not a team that can go to these grounds or the Cup final today and say to the opposition " our strengths are stronger than yours." (I got that quote from Mark Petchey who used to say that about Pete Sampras, I watch Tennis as well).

In Ten Hag, we have a manager that is prepared to change all aspects of this club (since Ferguson in 1986). Solksjaer achieved a lot in getting 3rd and then 2nd in successive seasons, but he was limited in strategy and was a yes man to Woodward and the Glazer's. Ten Hag is not.

He is a man that will demand more from the higher operations of this club. That includes the owners, scouting department, Murtough and Arnold. If they do not provide the structure in place Ten Hag will walk. He is the first man to challenge these people to help him get this club back to challenging for honours. He has thrown down the gauntlet and it is up to the higher structure to get their house in order.

We wait for the development of the take over, because the fans are fed up watching City take everything and we have a manager that will not settle for anything but the best.

United to need to get both off and on the field aspects right simultaneously in order to get to where we need to be!

Was going to point out Casemiro but saw your tagline.

I think until his injury Eriksen was also playing well and our full strength 11 was capable of going toe to toe with anyone.

Two big negatives this season have been out away from, and an extension of that, our form against sides in the top 10.

I personally think Eriksen has been a hindrance in every big game this season, which I expected because he's terrible under pressure and we're more likely to be pressed heavily in the big games unlike against the so-called weaker teams who are more happy to sit off us. Outside of those games, he was okay.

7/10. Hard not to feel sour after today, but with all Ten Hag has had to face this season I think he’s done a great job.

Greenwood, Ronaldo, injuries, small squad, playing every 3 days, a World Cup in the middle of the season, a summer window nearly bungled by the board, a winter window with no money, getting a striker who doesn’t score…he’s navigated all of it just how you’d want.

Any of the real low points we’ve had this season such as capitulations against City and Liverpool, conceding early in games, going out to Sevilla, are down to fragile mentality and individual errors, and maybe some freakish bad luck thrown in. These are fixable. Give him time and money, and he’ll sort it.

A farce.
I mean its not really this season but City and Barcelona having 15 years of cheating hanging over them just makes the whole thing seem meaningless. Obvious doping in the sport doesn't help.

From the home game against Spurs to the cup final against Newcastle was probably the most excited i've been about United since SAF's last season. The rest was very mixed but overall a good/decent season.

It feels disappointing because of the loss of form. I think there was a total whiplash effect from the Liverpool game because it came just after knocking out Barca, winning the carabao and advancing in the Fa Cup while Liverpool looked weak coming in to the game. I'm concerned that the team seemed to lose all momentum with so much time left of the season. Maybe it was because they felt like the job was done after the title or maybe the were destroyed by the loss? Either way that part really concern me. If we are just going by the results the season is clearly a success. We got rid of Ronaldo, got 3rd, won a title+another final and won against a big European side.
Good summary, the drop off in form definitely seemed to coincide after the Liverpool result as you rightly mention. It was painful to watch us implode against Savilla, especially as we could’ve wrapped the game up, had only that Anthony strike been on target, then onto the final where I’m certain we’d have beaten Roma.

Some great moments, some awful moments, but better than expected overall. Back in the Champion's League and a trophy to go with it. Good season in my book.

10 years later, we finally got the manager recruitment right, just need to blindly back him now no matter what.

2 steps forward, 1 step back. The step up to Cities level is a big one, our squad doesnt have enough depth so there is a lot of work to be done there. For the first time in a few years Im really looking forward to next season. This off season will drag on.

Very good season. We have come a long way since the horrific last season. We are making progress.

The goalkeeper is probably the most important position in the team. Until we have one that cuts out mistakes and can distribute the ball like both City keepers, we'll always be miles away.

These threads are pretty much useless for 50% of opinions after losing to a rival in a Cup final. Let it simmer for a bit.
I remember someone got roasted for giving the season a 7 right after the Chelsea or Fulham game and we secured top 4. Goes both ways I guess

Moyes aside, we always have ONE good and optimistic season under every new manager, the most disappointment is what happened to the 2nd season. Ask me again next May.

Back in the CL and broken our 6 year trophy drought.

Our neighbours will win a treble though.

Good season to build on. This season, our strengths and weaknesses have been emphasized. So we need to address the weaknesses by bringing in the right players. We have a top manager who deserves to be backed.

Decent to okayish. Certainly miles better than the last season.

Would have definitely won Europa League if not the FA cup if we had a good GK and a decent backup to Varane.

Good first season for Erik considering we virtually played the whole season without a central striker.
I am looking forward to next season already but we need to get good players in and get the passengers and the ones that are simply not good enough out.

Great season.

Sort terminism is in effect after today's loss. If we were offered at the beginning of the season a 3rd place finish, a deep Europa league cup run, a Cup, and a FA cup final; all while playing some of the most entertaining football we have seen from the team the last few years, we would have taken it. There were some bad results sprinkled in there, but all in all very great season.

We are the 2nd best team in the league and with a few key additions will challenge on all fronts next year.

Better than expected really but with embarrassing losses. Also the signing of Weghorst in January just about sums up the Glazers ambitions and why this club has failed for so long. That decision cost us in the end.

For us to achieve what we have achieved with a terrible goalkeeper and no CF, in ETHs first season in charge, with a World Cup in the middle of the season and the most fixtures in Europe is quite remarkable really when you think about it.

We are the ONLY team, other than a club who have been found guilty of 100+ counts of cheating, who won a domestic trophy.

We got to the FA Cup final, again, beaten by the cheats.

Only Arsenal finished above us in the hardest league in the World, if you exclude the cheats. We finished above Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle.

I don't see how anybody can claim that's anything other than a huge success given the disaster that was last season

5/10 season. We invested heavily but other than Casemiro none of the signings worked. Manager has been good but expected more from him tactically esp plan B when A didn't work and motivating players is concerned. Players bottled almost all the high stakes games, Sevilla, Arsenal, Newcastle, Fa Cup final. The fact that we gave up easy points to so many teams sums it up.

Martinez, Varane and Casemiro have all been good signings.

ETH only has so much to work with. Look at the state of our bench yesterday. We’re threadbare when it comes to quality in being able to change things up.

No rumblings, no leaks, a cup, a cup final, and CL secured.. For a first season and having to deal with loads of issues im content. Time to get rid of the drama of the club sale and build to challenge for the top 2 and more silverware
