You could argue that he just there won't be six new players, but there could be more than six new players (and that is maybe what OGS wants), but at the same time he is realistic and knows there probably will be less.

What about just 1 signing. Maybe Messi can save us .Why is everyone saying 4? Why can it not be 5 signings?
Not going to happen. Top players are rather expensive nowadays. 4 top players would probably cost £250-300m, unprecedented spending for us.Blow the budget on 4 top quality players and promote Mason, Chong and Gomes. That would be 7 new additions to the first team squad.
Even Messi alone wouldn't make us win the titles imo. He will be depressed after one week of training with Young. What about just 1 signing. Maybe Messi can save us .
True tbh, we wouldn’t win the league even with MessiEven Messi alone wouldn't propel us to the titles imo. He will be depressed after one week of training with Young.
Then we should spend £250m-300m.Not going to happen. Top players are rather expensive nowadays. 4 top players would probably cost £250-300m, unprecedented spending for us.
Ed Woodward: "performance on the pitch does not significantly affect performance off the pitch"Then we should spend £250m-300m.
Ed Woodward: "We can do things in the transfer market that other clubs can only dream of."
Next conference for an investor meeting, Ed Woodward: "I am so delighted to announce that Disney+ will form a partnership with us for their streaming online, we are really committed to this and expand the exposure of our brand". "Our aim is to become the Adult Disneyland of football, the only thing we can do that other club can only dream of" "We feel that this is the best way to success for our financials."Ed Woodward: "performance on the pitch does not significantly affect performance off the pitch"
Also Ed Woodward: "Managing United is like managing adult Disneyland"
Under Woodward we've spent more money than at any other time in our history. Woodward must be getting closer to the billion mark. It's a pity Woodward didn't have the benefit of a manager like Fergie..Ed Woodward: "performance on the pitch does not significantly affect performance off the pitch"

Would be my preferred option.Blow the budget on 4 top quality players and promote Mason, Chong and Gomes. That would be 7 new additions to the first team squad.
Yeah that's called inflation...Under Woodward we've spent more money than at any other time in our history. Woodward must be getting closer to the billion mark. It's a pity Woodward didn't have the benefit of a manager like Fergie..
It's also the second highest spend behind the Gulf state of Abu Dhabi. The point is, I could see us spending upto £300m in one window under Woodward.Yeah that's called inflation...
All of that is completely irrelevant. Woodward obviously favours a slow and steady approach in the market, focusing on a few marquee signings rather than huge revamps of the squad. We will not spend £300m in the market because it creates uncertainty for shareholders (that is who he answers to, not fans) and requires foresight/planning in future seasons to balance finances.Under Woodward we've spent more money than at any other time in our history. Luckily for them, they are on the right side of FFP with all of their market rate sponsorship deals meaning they can easily afford it.Tweet

I definitely think James Garner will play a role next season. He's exactly what we lack now so he might find a quicker route to the first team than Chong and Gomes.Blow the budget on 4 top quality players and promote Mason, Chong and Gomes. That would be 7 new additions to the first team squad.
You haven't a clue what Woodward favours, let's be honest. All of that is completely irrelevant. There is ample evidence to prove the above going off the renewals that have been given or are on the board recently as well as our transfer activity in past seasons. We have not gone above £150m net once post-SAF, while also reducing our net spend when we secure top 4 (this happened with both LVG and Mou where top 4 resulted in significantly reduced net expenditure in the market). We have renewed Rojo, Jones and Young while also offering Mata a new contract, our intention is to be modest in the market.
Possibly..I definitely think James Garner will play a role next season. He's exactly what we lack now so he might find a quicker route to the first team than Chong and Gomes.
You might not be aware of what an inference is. It is using evidence and reasoning to form a conclusion. The one that doesn't have a clue would be someone that thinks we will do something drastically different despite stacks of evidence going against that idea. Ole said that we will not go crazy in the market, he said '1 or 2' so the sensible opinion is that we will only bring several players in if the have to replace players (eg. Lukaku and Herrera), it is not going to be 4 top players that can instantly upgrade our first team. You haven't a clue what Woodward favours, let's be honest.

The main problem is Ed will get the say on who he spends that money on.It's also the second highest spend behind the Gulf state of Abu Dhabi. The point is, I could see us spending upto £300m in one window under Woodward.
That should be enough.I reckon there will be four signings. Centre back, right back, midfielder and an attacker.
Five signings it is thenTweet

I think the difference this summer is that Ole will respect the clubs values and himself and Ed will be on the same page. This is the opposite of Jose who knew what the clubs values were but insisted on blowing fortunes on 30 year olds just to cause a bit of trouble. He desperately wanted to spend over 110 million on Willian and Perisic which is madness. The main problem is Ed will get the say on who he spends that money on.
Personally no. Look at Guardiolas first two summers at CIty and there was a huge turnaround of players. Got rid of players he didnt rate and replaced them. These things take time if you do them in stages.pretty sensible approach isn't it?
I'm pretty sure Ed will try and sign the targets Ole Will want, and will make significant funds available. The main problem is Ed will get the say on who he spends that money on.

there's only one team that springs to mindWho the hell is going to pay 80 million for Zaha.
Clue: They rhyme with Ran Unsighted aka The Dead Levelsthere's only one team that springs to mind
Wow this is great! From one or two players to less than six is good news, 4-5 signings would be great.Tweet

He says there wont be more than six, it's a rebuild and he's going to need a few transfer windows to complete it.You could argue that he just there won't be six new players, but there could be more than six new players (and that is maybe what OGS wants), but at the same time he is realistic and knows there probably will be less.
£60m?! That's got to be bullshit, no way Lyon sell for 60.Tweet

With a proper plan in place and targets outlined early enough then two months is long enough. I think we've got that plan in place early enough, over to Ed now and get them in before July and pre season.Really wish the transfer market wasn't shortened. 2 months just doesn't seem like enough time.
The difference between the two clubs is as big off the pitch as on it.Citeh are a well oiled machine adding strength on top of strength seamlessly,I'm quite envious...
While we're stuck debating whether we need to sell the little quality we possess in the squad
