It's debatable, they have a quality young squad. Yes you can add experience, but their first team is mostly very good, yes they could add a midfielder, but that's about it. Once you start adding squad players why not make those youngsters who will grow with the team and set them up nicely as the years progress.
It's basically what we are starting to do and what i said we should have been doing a couple of summers ago.
If the cost of competing in the current era is monumental then instead invest in the future and as the competition declines you can thrive.

The more i hear about De Ligt and the obvious influence of Riola, the more i think we could do well to give that deal a miss. Yes we could really do with him, but not if it comes with a bucket of drama and the sum of the whole then becomes worth less than the sum of the parts.

I’m not sure any of those have ‘failed’ yet. Chong and Gomes particularly are clearly in need of more physical development.
Pereira and Fosu-Mensah have shown enough to be kept around as squad players. I’d rather they were here than the likes of Fellaini or Rojo.
The thing with the class of 92 etc is that it’s important to supplement superstars from the academy with solid squad players. John O’Shea and Wes Brown are prime examples of that.

The class of 92 also, Giggs aside, really broke through in 95/96 when they were 20 or 21. Chong and Gomes have a couple of years yet until we'll really know whether they're going to make it.
For my money Gomes will make it here, but it will take time, Chong I'm not so sure about.

Re: De Ligt, I think we put way too much stock into what random tweets say without considering the source of the leaks. In these high stakes transfers there are so many people in and around transfers that will leak information to try and gain an edge or use them as smokescreens for other reasons. I would be reluctant to accuse players of being a certain way without having a full view of the truth, which twitter in no way provides.
How have you come to that conclusion?
People need to wake up to the fact that footballers are ultimately employees in the job market. They're treated like assets by clubs and owe no loyalty to anyone other than themselves.

Well Juve have inserted a relatively cheap release clause and not a mental one. Don't think its outside the realms of possibility that De Ligt demanded a clause.
Totally agree. Unfortunately, stupid people find these bite size pieces of bullshit much easier to digest. Why bother researching anything or giving something some objective consideration when you can read twitter and smack buttons on your keyboard for likes? If they do want to bring in Zaha, then the only way they'll be able to do that is by selling Aubameyang or another player who can bring in a lot of money. Not sure we'd pay that much for someone who just turned 30 and it is only really the likes of the Daily Express linking us with him.

I think he has every right to ask for a clause liek that to be put in. If the club doesn't agree, they don't sign him, simple. No different to a massive number of clauses in plenty of other jobs along similar lines, especially with people moving to other countries. My great aunt had exactly the same thing with a job she took in Australia.

Yes they can - but if they are to replace Trippier and Rose as well, they have a problem. Fullbacks arent cheap these days as we were made painfully aware of.
He’s a great player and would suit us perfectly, but he’s 30 years old and worth nowhere near £70 million. If we are spending that kind of money on a striker I’d rather it be for a long term option rather than on a player that’s ability could fall off a cliff at any time.
I very much doubt we'll be looking to replace Rose this summer - he's good for another season or two.
Yeah I don't see anything wrong with that. You see that in companies all the time right? You tell your boss I am leaving in 2 weeks or whatever, and you dont see new projects coming your way then. I agree that PSG are not in the wrong here. Clubs need to step up or player power will rule the roost a lot more going forward. Its bad enough already.
