Why don't we go in for Boetang?
I think that he's still a good defender, but he's lacking in pace, and you know how badly the United fanbase wants a defender with more pace.
Part of me thinks he only considered Spurs, just so he can win a trophy and forever be known as the manager who cleans up Mourinho's messes

Not when he doesn't fit the profile that they're seeking. They wanted to bring Conte in on their own terms, and their conditions didn't suite Conte. The fact that they'd look for a compromise with him is what was surprising for me, especially since they wanted someone who'd want to integrate more young players and not necessarily look to rejig the squad.
