Tier 2:
  • Martial & Forson set to become free agents
  • Both Sancho and Greenwood are expected to be sold
  • Pellistri likely to be sold
  • United will listen to offers for both Antony and Rashford
    • No obvious buyer around for Rashford
  • United want two forwards: a Højlund backup and versatile winger
    • Interest in both Michael Olise and Pedro Neto
    • Also interest in Evan Ferguson and Toney, but both could be out of their reach due to a more limited transfer budget

Olise and Neto are both very good targets. Personally have no interest in Toney unless it’s on a cut price deal. He’s 28, never played above a mid table prem level, and has come off the back of a long ban, and then a poor 6 months. At this age, and recent performances, he doesn’t feel like a player who is ready to go to the next level. He’d have to be viewed as a rotation option with a probable 2-3 year shelf life. I wouldn’t want to invest more than 25m in such a player, under our current financial circumstances.

If we had a settled squad, with a great age profile and just needed extra cover, or he was out of contract, then he’d be an attractive proposition. Otherwise, I just don’t see him as a good use of resources. I’d rather spend more on a much younger player with loads of potential upside.

Ferguson is going to demand a premium price, but what a difference a season makes. A year ago everyone would’ve paid the crazy fee Brighton would demand, but now…..? His talent clearly hasn’t evaporated and what is true now was also true then, even though people didn’t want to see it: he’s a young player who will go through ups and downs. This season has definitely been more of a down, and whilst he’s clearly just as talented as he was a year ago, it’s also clear that virtually no player is a sure-fire safe bet. I’d want us to take advantage of that uncertainty by negotiating a deal that was highly incentivised by performance related addons, with a lower base.

Stories about his departure from Chelsea are saying he wanted more power, and the club wanted him to fit into a broader management structure. If that's true, then doesn't sound like he would be a target for us given our whole restructure and the appointments of Berrada, Wilcox and Ashworth. Can very easily see him going to Bayern though.
I don't think that was in relation to signings. It seems to be down to him wanting to keep Gallagher and Chalobah who have been 2 of Chelsea's best players this season. It's understandable that the manager wouldn't be happy with some of their best players being sold.

I wouldn't go near Evan Ferguson. Especially not for the money it would likely take.

Depressing if Rashford stays. Rather have both Olise and Neto in and keep Garnacho, Amad and Højlund then rest goodbye.

If £70m comes in for Rashford, let him walk. He is done. Value is only going one way from here. To put up the season that he did with no major mitigating factors is unheard from a true top level forward. He just is not that guy and is massively overpaid. Simple as that. If he would be willing to take a big paycut, i'd keep him but he is not going to do that so I'd sell him if a decent offer comes in.

People were saying exactly the same thing 2 years ago and he went on to score 30 goals the following season. We don't know that Rashford won't bounce back with a strong season

Kevin De Bruyne is 32. Would you bin him off? I'm not even particularly a big a fan of Bruno but he has whole seasons at ages 30, 31, 32 under contract. I'd keep him on his current deal and if he is still at a high level 2 years from now discuss extensions in the same way Madrid have handled Modric and Kroos.
Most players don't accept that kind of agreement though, they'll be off.

Ignore me if it’s a bad idea

But would having a thread following OGC Nice’s transfers this summer be worth it?

Would be lovely if they invest in some potential wonderkids this summer who might one day be top PL players…

Freedman is set to continue his planning for the summer transfer window, with Palace braced for offers for some of their star performers, including Guéhi, Eze and Michael Olise, who is attracting interest from Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United. Guéhi, who has two years on his contract, is also wanted by United and is likely to cost about £60m.

Which is fine. If we have turned it around and are competing I imagine he’d want to stay. Otherwise you go out and buy a 25yr old attacking midfielder. Or one of the younger ones will have emerged from the academy.

At this point, if ETH goes, it surely would have to be McKenna. Tuchel and Poch seem so uninspiring.
I honestly think it's the other way round. ETH probably goes because McKenna seems available. Otherwise ETH looked likely to stay.

I think everyone presumed McKenna would stay for at least a season at Ipswich.

Tier 1:
Wesley Gassova, from Corinthians, is a favourite of many European clubs.

West Ham made a first offer, which was rejected. The English club will submit another one soon.

The winger's dossier has also reached the tables of Manchester United and Atlético de Madrid. In these cases, no negotiations are underway.

God damn it.

Really had high hopes for him here.
I think it’s been a good lesson for all of us, myself included, that even a huge number of goals at youth level doesn’t necessarily say anything else about the player except that they’re a good goalscorer.
