14 Tory MP's now (according to what I have seen on the TV) have now publicly come out and said that Truss must go, do you honestly think, that they would switch gears and say, "hold on, actually she should stay, as she is far more preferable to Sir Kier."??

If they did that, they would get laughed at.
In the same way they can say they are cutting taxes/losing the triple lock/committed to no spending cuts etc one day and do something different the next.

She does not have the power. Parliament needs to vote for an early election to take place.
Exactly. We're in odd territory here as you have to remember party leader and prime minister are not the same thing.

Even if she got a GE through a vote they can still announce a leadership election.

What's the conservative majority right now? It's huge right? Unshackled from the EU free to do as it likes.

And this is what they do.

That is true, but actually coming and backing a person who they said was rubbish a day ago, or an hour ago, is something else entirely.

No body really wants to attach themselves to a sinking ship.

Loyal Conservative voter Chris from Shefford said a Labour government would be a "disaster". He acknowledged that Liz Truss "had made a mistake" but said that people were entitled to "second chances". Despite that, he likened the current political situation to "car crash TV".
Will never understand the British public.

Your forgetting one key thing. The likes of Truss and Johnson have always had this selfish belief they were entitled and destined to become PM.

Once they get the job, they will stay there until the very bitter end.

That's why you don't put your enemy on 'death ground'.

If they think they have time for their positions to win in the party they will continue to fight without compromise, if there is the hard deadline of an opposition VoNC people are more likely to hold their noses and compromise and argue for legitimacy. Putting them in that position with 2 years to gaslight the public would be stupid.

Allowing infighting against themselves is the correct political policy by Labour.
This is the way.

Why is Sunak the bookies favourite to take over?

The Boris wing of the party would cause even more havoc with him being picked.

It's honestly like all her political rivals in both Labour and the Tories are setting her up constantly and she keeps walking into the next humiliation.
It's because she's quite obviously a bit thick for the job and well out of her depth. Conniving politicians are playing her like a fiddle.

I'm no fan of Labour, they're not fit to run government until they clear out the likes of Momentum, but anything has to be better than this. A coalition would actually be the best thing for the country right now. Until we get credible politicians in any party it needs to be as difficult as possible to change the status quo.
