Monitoring the preparation of the Vidal bid
Did you forget Zaha?
He wasn't great, but he did a good job of stretching the game and gave us a decent out ball at times. Needs to work hard on his final pass/shot.

Depends on who we get in as CB and CM, I don't think we really need a RWB but I wouldn't mind signing Cuadrado for that role.
Cuadrado, Hummels, Vidal and we're well and truly sorted. Imagine. :(

I just didn't see the type of defensive pressure and the consistent lethal counter attacks they were so known for last year. From the defensive collapse on the first goal to the large amount of time and space on the third one, this is just not the Real Madrid team that won the Champions League and eliminated Bayern.
Of course they're not.We were playing two U21s CBs in the second half and not conceded any goal. But I think their players on the pitch were serious enough about their performance.

Few observations from this game and the tour in general:

Young is well worth a place in the squad next season this form, especially as we have no other cover for Shaw

Lingard definately needs to be giving a chance with the first team next season.

Zaha is not good enough and should be loaned to hopefully recover value

Cleverly and Valencia should be replaced as soon as possible.

Kagawa needs to stay and play plenty too.I think under Van Gaal he could be a much more versatile player.

Hope Fletcher stays fit this season, could really use hos experience and leadership.

It's great to have a proper pre season against proper teams.
Agreed!

France - can't win anything with Swedish turnips
As a team we were brilliant...you can see even average players growing with confidence.

What a difference van Gaal has made. I am looking forward to Monday more than the World Cup Final.

Excellent performance, would add to the difference Van Gaal has made is that what difference Moyes made to the PL champions of 11 pts margin, he knocked the stuffing out of the team last season, then half the people on here start to believe we are a mid-table team, sick of hearing this, be proud, we are Manchester United.
Like the new system, suits our players, Blackett really impresses me, not seen much of him before the tour, but assured and calm for a youngster, great prospect.

Also predicted the score correctly (again)

It is unfair to say that that was because Real did not try, rather than it was because our movement was very good. I watched Real against Inter and they were very good in that game.
No it's just a realistic thing to say. Real has not been in form at all during this cup. I know United fans want to praise everything under LVG now but some here are starting to sound like scousers.

You probably forgot about Young. And you also forgot What Fletch was like before he's ill and has been absent for so long. He's getting back and becoming better because he's now healthy.
Young on the other hand has been sh*t under Moyes when healthy
You are right about young improving a lot but I am not so sure about him as a wing back defensively. His performances have been really good. Fletcher on the other hand was great before his illness but it was his ball winning capability that I remember more than his composure on the ball. Not saying he was a slouch on the ball but that wasn't his strength. Today though he looked like a great playmaker and outshone Alonso IMO.

No.
Mata/Kagawa got so much space because the movement of the front 2 allowed for it.

We also are going to have RVP coming back at some point too.
True. That was very clear. But both Mata and Kagawa are intelligent players whose movement is pretty good, but neither of them is very quick.

This is utterly unfair. All that most people are saying is that we played well. Probably Real were not to the level they were in the latter stages of the Champions league, but to assert that we looked good because they were not trying is downright absurd.

As I said when fletch is healthy he's boss in midfield.

Marketing reasons, you saw the crowd's reaction when he came on and the played in front of over 100.000 people. Also, just because they played their starters doesn't mean their starters played at their best and gave it their all, which they didn't.
I really don't think they would risk losing Ronaldo regardless of how many fans want to see him play. So either his "injury" wasn't as bad as they let on, it was all a scheme to mess with Van Gaal's head over team selection, or they put him in as a "last resort" to try and win the game. In my opinion, it was the latter. Ronaldo hasn't looked well all summer, and Van Gaal doesn't strike me as the type that could be put off easily.

But what does it matter if they gave it their all or if they are in form or not? . Beating Real Madrid 3-1 is a great result and that gives fans and players alike confidence in the new system and ¨trainer-coach¨. When was the last time we were this excited about our team? We should not look at any other teams and their reasons for failing, just look at ourselves and be proud of today.

Well, we'd agree to disagree about that. United were good. Real had absolutely dominated Inter, with second string players (I had been to the game). No one is claiming that we will win the title yet. So not like scousers. All that most ppl here claim is that we will play exciting football next season and the pre-season provides enough evidence to support that.

Disagree. Zaha was awful.
Zaha is still raw. I suspect we will see him loaned out to a Premier League club where he would be expected to refine his skills. Same with Micheal Keane as well.

With Zaha we would need patience, no point in hurrying him into the squad. I don't see a role for him in a 3-5-2 system. After watching the pre season it should be clear now to LvG that he can't play as striker but can only be played as a winger.

A loan spell under someone like Martinez or Koeman with regular playing time in the prem should do wonders for him.

Maybe you are just the type whose glass is half empty. Or you just criticised for the sake of it. Anyone who's not blind would see the difference the team made (in terms of confidence and how to play fluently etc) between now and last season.

Real not being in form is partly because their opposition has been better. Today we are the better team and a team which a months ago came 7th and fans are asking a wholesale shipping out.
If you want to choose to be negative after a game like today, you don't deserve to be happy. Let us be happy for the team and for the new manager will you?

Lingaard is quality

I know a lot of people want us to go spending but with him, Januzaj, Zaha, Powell, the keane bros and Blacket and Shall and Welbz we have a solid squad

LVG is going to have a lot of interesting choices to make after this tour. Ok it was nowhere near a full strength Real but they were there to win that's for sure: imagine 3 out of 3 losses in this competition : real have enough pride to try and aviod that at all costs. IMO every one of our players both starters and subs can be proud of their game today. For me the standouts were Jones, colossal in central defence - sure there must be some great face close-ups - Young, who is being the stand up Young we all hoped for when he arrived at OT rather than the cowardly diving one and Kagawa who is just so creative with the ball. special mentions for pretty much everyone else...

Were you watching the same match I did? I thought Zaha was awful. Cleverly was average at best. Michael Keane had a nightmare, but I'd not be too harsh on him because he was against one of the 3 best players of the world.

Kean was most definitely not having a nightmare!

There was another time in the second half when Bale got past him like he did not even exist, and de Gea saved Isco's deflected shot.

Keane will stay. We need the defensive cover regardless of if we bring in another CB.

Where did I say we weren't better? Where did I say we didn't make improvements? Get a grip and read my posts. I simply claimed Real wasn't in top form so this win is not to be overstated. That's just being realistic not negative as you suggest.
