You're...going to love me
Just seen the article in Bild, this is definitely happening! Who can I speak to around here about getting a name change to Super Schweini? We all need to crack open some German beer to celebrate this news. He's a proven winner and will be a great signing.
pm a mod. They'll be happy to help you out.

This is kinda funny . Schweinsteiger turning 31 is not old , yet van Persie turning 32 is an old man !!!
Difference buying a holding midfielder at that age who was the best player on the pitch in the world cup final a year ago, and a striker who hasn't been in good form since early 2013 and has always been really injury prone (though Schweinsteiger isn't perfect with injuries obviously).

If we have signed Basti then I take back every bad word I've ever said about Woodward.

Just one more post on this topic before I go to bed.

While I do have heavy reservations about this signing I can also see some positives. A right footed defensive midfielder to replace Carrick was vital so we at least went for the right sort of player. He has been a brilliant player in the past and under our current manager to boot. Finally he's got a great attitude, I don't see him treating us as his retirement home where he will be content just to collect his big pay cheque for a few years, if he doesn't perform it won't be for lack of effort.
Don't get too excited there

If we do get both Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger we will have quite a lot of physical players in the lineup. It diminishes the usefulness of Fellaini quite a lot. With Darmian and hopefully Otamendi we will also be adding a lot of physical strength to our back 4.

I don't like the signing given the figures that are being thrown around, but I'll let the season do the talking.

Very good signing if true. Arguably one we should've made a few years ago, but we could potentially still get a few good years out of him hopefully.

I remember that his brother is an United fan.
Yes, I remember reading some quotes about his brother trying to persuade him into joining United but Schweini always replied that he couldn't do that. His brother is probably over the top right now.

What? How can you consider £13m to sign Schweinsteiger as being too much? Even his salary is not so much, £7m per year which is 135k a week.

We're still healing and he's a good/great signing for utd whilst we're in this phase.

A few years ago I wanted us to sign Bastian more than any other midfielder, and there's no way he is significantly worse now than then.
He's 3-4 years younger than Carrick who is probably our best midfielder when fit. It's a no-brainer.

I must be one of the rare ones who isn't that wowed about this signing (yet).
You would have been wowed... 6 years ago, hes still decent but unspectacular, less of a risk than some and reasonably cheap... sensible signing.

I have to say, it would be a bit weird seeing him in a United shirt. He is Mr Bayern. He is the Giggs or Scholes mould.

I've wanted him since van Gaal did his work on him and he showcased it against us, but I find it very strange.

And I still hope it's not either/or when it comes to Morgan Schneiderlin. I just hope it all falls into place, Rooney stays out of central midfield, Herrera stays as a no.8 and Fellaini disappears.

Is it safe to say that he is our best midfielder if he signs?
I'd say so. I haven't seen too much of him in the previous year so I don't know if he's suddenly regressed, and that's why Bayern are selling him, but if not then I'd rate him as being our best midfielder without a doubt.

You see a door, a large door. A white door. The door is closed. You grab the handle and turn it. The door does not open, the door is locked. You turn around. What do you see? Another door. A red door. This door is open, not like the white door. You walk through it and into the next room. You're standing in front of the same white door as before. The door is locked like before. You already know that the door is locked but you try to open it anyway. The door is locked. You turn back to look at the red door you've walk through, and what do you see? A white door. The same door. Locked. No way to open it. Surrounding by white doors. Trapped. No escape.

Then Moyes gets fired, LVG comes in and 12 months later we potentially have a front six that could include Schweinsteiger, Di Maria, Herrera and Memphis... I think that I need to go and lie down.

There's no way we would get him earlier. Bayern would never let him go.

True. I mean that, in general, we should've been making a big midfield signing a few years ago, and someone like Schweinsteiger would've been one of those players. Still delighted if we get him now.
