Has Red Issue spun the Pochettino story into a conspiracy theory yet? Maybe one involving aliens, the CIA and the Co92.

wow, didn't expect the BBC to post such drivel. Guaranteed this doesn't come out had we won tonight.
I think they have said for some time that we have had a verbal agreement with Mourinho no?

Like all media outlets, they have. They also, noticing clicks have gone down, then say that the club hasn't got any agreement or indeed even offered him anything. Rinse and repeat for the best part of 5 months and you have this thread.

For all those who want mourinho here tonight's result should be manna from heaven.
I don't particularly want Jose I just want someone who isn't a complete bellend.
Not upset tonight. Not in the least.

Normally I'd be fuming after a performance like that costing us a CL place, but I'm almost numb to it. Disappointed sure, but nothing more. Didn't expect anything from the game, fully expected to watch 90 minutes of awful football. The senile fraud has sucked all joy out of watching United.

Least Jose would stand on the touch line. That gets me more than anything that LVG does not do. I don't know why. Perhaps it depicts a lack of passion.

Like many (perhaps most), the thought of Van Gaal Managing this team for another season makes my skin crawl. There's simply no denying he's been a failure who is taking us backwards rather than forwards. The players and, as a result, the club are regressing under his stewardship.

I really do hope that Mourinho gets the job. There are no guarantees in football, but he's clearly the most logical choice. His resume speaks for itself. In many ways, he's the closest thing to Sir Alex as exists in Management today.

That's said, if Mourinho does take over, man alive...he has some work to do. There's virtually nothing about the current squad that reminds me of a classic Mourinho team. A severe lack of leadership, pace and power.

In my opinion, Pochettino would feck off to Madrid or Barcelona within 4 years if he came here. Giggs would be sacked within 8 months.

Only one man for me now. 100% behind the Big Mac Mou

And Mourinho haven't stayed anywhere for more than 3 years.

Where else would he go if he came here? There would be literally nowhere else to go. The guy has done it all
Become Portugal manager and then retire. He's not going to stay with us for years, after 3 years things always seems to go wrong somehow, and why should that be different here?

Well, if you want someone who is going to stay here for 20+ years, there is only one man for that job.......
I know the days of managers staying for 25 years are gone, but your argument against Pochettino is poor given that Mourinho won't stay for longer.

My argument against Pochettino is that he has verbally agreed a contract extension. In Levy's world, that's as good as a signed contract. No chance of him coming here.

I'm just using the point that Pochettino would piss off to Barcelona or Madrid if he came here. Mourinho wouldn't since he's been there and done that

To me it's an embodiment of what I see on the pitch; Van Gaal is incapable of making the players passionate about the club, the match or football in general.

Great example was today. If Mourinho (or for that matter Ferguson, who is more like Mourinho than he cares to admit IMO) had been in charge when we'd rolled in and had our bus attacked, he would have made the players angry about it, hungry for revenge, hungry to piss that mob off. He would have turned it into a direct insult to the club, and whipped them into a frenzy. The siege mentality would set in, and the players would bare their teeth and get stuck in. But Van Gaal lets them hide under their seats and post it all on social media. The attitude problem is so obvious it's painful.

"Can Manchester United score? They always score"
I now fully expect some of the folks here who want Jose(And only Jose) to see that report from Sun of all places and freak out about how SAF is conspiring against Mou by trying to get Poch instead of him and how he is shredding his legacy by interfering where he shouldn't and how he fears Jose might be a bigger success than him at United and doesn't want that..

Note that I said some and not all. I would like Mourinho to take over but I am not going to tarnish the legacy of the great man by believing stories from rag sheets and red issue Twitter account and take it as gospel..
Whoever does that is stupid. But people love their conspiracy theories.

Mate, we are a bunch of "nice guys". With the exception of Bastian and Rojo I don't believe any of our players have the ability, character to show the sort of aggression or willingness to pummel a team, in the way you are talking.
In the days of Keane, our players would begin the fight in the tunnel, before walking onto the pitch.
In 2016, our players shake hands with opponents asking how their wives/kids are.

Our players just aren't warriors, in the way that your or I would like them to be.

Me too.

Don't really give a rat's ass about Glaston. He's just another wum on a rival football forum.
Same here. I have no idea why anybody would care about 1 forum member, that much.
I want the best man for the job, and Jose is the guy with the track record.

I agree, but I think it's a combination of both. Many of these players are definitely soft, but I think Mourinho would get much more out of them. You wouldn't have thought the likes of Fabregas or Willian or Oscar had that kind of character, but they were able to show it at times under him.

I don't think any caf member is in a place to say for sure how well run the club is as yet. We may have our succession plan etc. all set up but airtight with zero announcements until necessary.

Wishful thinking, ofcourse.
When a club hires David Moyes and persists with LVG despite the awful football and performances on the pitch, I think its safe to say the club is being poorly run at the moment.

100% agree, but I believe Jose wouldnt have to make wholesale changes to this squad...neither would SAF.
Both would get much much more out of the current players, we really only need 3-4 additions (plus a decent manager) to have us challenging for the top again.
