Ronaldo's goals to games ratio in the CL is about the same as in La Liga. Only Zlatan's is dramatically different. This season, the best in Zlatan's entire career so far, Ronaldo has scored 16 CL goals vs. 4 CL golas for Zlatan. Why this difference?

You're making valuable points but you are wasting your time in this thread. It's full with people who think we are signing a player who will destroy PL defences for fun. However, if Mourinho wants Zlatan, then we have to sign him and see what happens. I'm not optimsitic about Zlatan's influence here but Mourinho must know much better than us after all.
Zlatan has 5 goals and 3 assists in 10 CL games this season. It's decent. And in 31 games in the shit league Ligue 1, 38 goals + 13 assists.

Aguero has in 9 CL games, 2 goals and 0 assists. He's shite.

Telegraaf says it is a 100% done deal, all that's missing is a picture of him and the shirt, because the picture hasn't been made yet. Exciting times, I have to say.

Also, Zlatan with Rashford and Martial up front is an excellent hold-up striker with vision and two speedsters. But I doubt Mourinho will play them three, probably Martial and Zlatan with Rashford coming off the bench.

I think plenty have bought into the guys self generated hype. Like you say though, looks like we're about to find out. I still get excited by new signings even if I don't particularly want them. Football does weird things to man.

Zlatan will be useless even if he's free. Rashford has nothing to learn from Ibra as he's more a Brazilian Ronaldo type of player. And he's a really bad influence in the locker room.
How do we know he's a bad influence? Haven't heard much about this at all, if anything he seems well liked. Anyway, you can't be friends with everyone you work with.

Plus, how can having a serial winner join us be bad for a year or two? He'll be great for games where we need a bit of physicality in our squad.

Decent is one thing, great is another.

Tell me why his CL record is much worse than Ronaldo's?

I saw him say that sometimes it's not worth living out your dream (for him it was barcelona) and I think he will have invaluable advice for the likes of De Gea and Martial etc. I want to see the kids too but you have to imagine what a boost it is to the dressing room. We lost not just experience but personality. He would be another respected voice in the dressing room. I think he could be very influential. He's the kind that will stay back behind training and that will rub off on some of the lads. Memphis could do with some of that. I hope he comes and his age don't bother me. I think there will be plenty of games for Rashford etc next season.

Benzema 4 goals, 0 assists in 8 CL games. If we only compare players in Champions League I guess the only players who are good enough for United are Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar and Suarez?

Zlatan already played under Mourinho, so it's not like he doesn't know what he's dealing with.

Maybe because Ronaldo is a better player? Ronaldo and the 3 Barcelona players are the best in the world.

People love to play down Ibra's level, but let's see about players who people rate who are not from Real and Barca, in CL:

Ibrahimovic: 10 games. 5 goals. 3 assists
Lewandowski: 12 games, 9 goals, 1 assist
Aguero: 9 games, 2 goals, 0 assist
Diego Costa: 8 games, 2 goals, 3 assists
Benzema: 8 games, 4 goals, 0 assists

So we shouldn't sign a player because Ronaldo is much better???????? Ok
Did I say this? I'm sceptical, given the incredible expectations expressed above. He can't live up to them as they are crazy. You'd think we are signing Neymar. But if Zlatan's the best we can sign and if Mou trusts him to make a significant difference for us, then we have to sign him. Simple.

What do you make of Aguero? You must think he's awful. You know, since you are obsessed about Zlatan's stats in the CL this season. Aguero has 2 goals in 9. He's a crap player, right?

You don't think he will be a significant difference to what we currently have? He is clearly better than what we have.

He might not live up to expectations but he'll make those playing with him more confident. It will have a ripple effect. I would expect him to still be good for 18-22 goals if we attack/play properly. He will bother teams and Martial will have more space as a result. We just need to hope if we sign him, he is fit and ready from the start.

Nah, some on here (not Treble in this case) even think Rasford has nothing to learn from Zlatan

The argument of using Ibrahimović's European Cup knockout record as an indictment of his performances vs Premier League defenses is so speculative and fail that you can't even figure out where to begin. Case in point - Ruud Van Nistelrooy, one of the greatest marksmen in Premier League history, who terrorized domestic and European defenses in the group stages scored a grand total of 5 Champions League knockout goals. He sure wilted under the pressure of facing legendary PL defenders. going by that selective stat.

IF he adapts quicky to the PL, IF stays free of injuries, etc. Then yes, he's much better. But I'm sceptical that he'll adapt quickly even if he starts as well as ADM. We'll talk again next season. When you sign a 35 y.o. striker from a weaker league and expect almost miracles from him, chances are he will disappoint.

My last post here.

Using Aguero doesn't really make sense, Giroud got the same number of goals as Ibrahimovic in the CL this season, I doubt people would put the two at the same level. Sometimes common sense provides answers that statistics can't.

If this deal was being done a few years ago I'd be a bit warmer on it, I guess time will tell.

Him, Rooney and possibly Mata in the same team doesn't equal exciting pacey football in my mind.

One of Rooney/Mata will not be here next season, maybe both

He'll score more than Rooney at least - put your house on it.
Rooney got 8 league goals this season. I'd put money on Zlatan surpassing that by the start of November.
