Can that be right? £125m? I'd thought the Raiola cut of the fee came from the €120m odd that was being mooted as the full fee rather than being on top of it.
The tweet says 150M EUR = 100 + 25 + 25.

well these guys are legit, if Di Marzio, L'Équipe, Massimiliano Nerozzi say there's movement on Pogba's front you better believe it. Only one missing from that list of super ultra reliability is Carlo Laudisa when it comes to Juve.
i posted this about three weeks ago, i wasn't going to get my hopes up till i see one of these names on a tweet saying something is happening.

I know Juve fans search for tweets form Nerozzi and Laudisa regarding Juve's ins an/outs. I learned to search for these name since the King Vidal circus.

That Laudisa guy did say 100M plus 24M in bonuses.

I agree that if a player delivers the goods nobody questions the price tag. Look at Martial, so far he hasn't been a 50 mil player but he has been very good and people understand why we pay the money.

The players who 'had their price tag hanging over them' had it because they played shite. Torres and Carrol were always compared with their fee because they were rubbish.

Was Bale worth £5m more than Ronaldo? No. But people get why the price was paid and when he is playing well it becomes completely and utterly irrelevant.

The case is the same in regard to Rooney's wage. Nobody gave a feck what he was earning 6-7 years ago but as soon as he starts playing shite it is constantly being referenced.

If Pogba is £30mil or £100mil, the only thing that matters is whether he performs. If he does that the price tag may be seen as a sound investment, given his age.

So Kante cost more than Pjanic? :houllier:
Can you really compare the difference between Kante and Pjanic with Kante and Pogba? That's a couple million £, not £80m. Not sure there are many who would have Pjanic over Kante anyways.

I don't want to derail the thread, though. I'm sure all of you will be delighted with Pogba and won't care about the fee, but that is an utterly mental price for a single player not named Messi, Ronaldo, or Neymar.

Still waiting on an actual credible source to confirm this like Di Marzio.

We have the cash to pay for him to get his name changed.

Exactly this. So many plonkers posting in this thread since it really kicked off. His value will be shown when we lift the title at the end of next season. Yep, if this happens we will win the league. This transfer was always On, as Woody was on a mission to break the transfer record, while ending the last 3 years of shite. Mourinho+Woody is literally the dream team i personally have been waiting for.

If Kante wasn't also French he'd hardly even be brought up. Pogba and Kante are completely different types of midfielders, and have a completely different status in world football. Pogba is a superstar, Kante is this summers Schneiderlin.

You're completely right but you're looking at it slightly incorrectly. Instead of considering the fee relative to other transfers at other clubs, you have to consider it relative to our income. Then it's not so mental.

lol.

Fans being the master of transfer fees is pretty humorous tbh. We are signing one of the best young players in world football who can only get better, who is probably the most marketable player in the sport, has recently joined Adidas, playing in one of the world's strongest teams who don't want to sell him. Did you honestly expect the price to be similar to a player who 2 seasons ago was playing in Ligue 2, who no clubs seemed to be very interested in, playing for a team that will return to mediocrity in the future? Jose wants the player, United is swimming in cash, Juventus don't want to sell, it's only logical Juve would milk us for every cent they can.

Under a tree.
These figures are insane. Hes a excellent player, slightly overrated but hes not a world record fee player, not only that, but its going to smash it. Considering it seems we are the only team in for him, it will be a joke if we pay 125m. Hope the figures are off the mark and it includes his wages as well. 70m + 50m in wages over 5 years seems about right..

It's all just nonsense at this stage, he may as well cost 50 gazillion squillion. Ultimately, fees for men who kick balls on a lawn for a living have been ridiculous for 25+ years.

Right, I'm not disputing that. If you have the money, spend it.

Still mind boggling for a player that doesn't dominate games consistently or score 30, 40, or 50 goals. I know you're partly paying for what he can become rather than what he is now, but you could get 2, 3, or 4 world class players for this amount.

Yeah, very funny. I'm sure if you did a poll of this very forum most would have Kante.
Yeah because comparing fees of two different type of players, different background, different club and different league makes sense.

Kante over Pjanic, yes it's very funny joke. Kudos.

Who are these world class players? We have been shopping in the okay department for midfielders for too long now, the standard of midfielders we need is in the Veratti/Pogba mould, both of which wouldn't be available for that price.

Why would you even compare Pjanic and Kante?
Ay, he's had a good season and looks a top player but he was playing in Ligue 2 up until before the season. There's been many a player who have looked great for lower teams only to turn to mediocrity when taking the step up.

We have one in Morgan, not saying the same will happen to Kante but already comparing him to some of the best midfielders in the game is ludicrous imo.

No one is comparing anyone as players, just the prices.
