Katie Ledecky is racing at 2.20 in the 800m freestyle. I'll stay up to watch that, she's amazing and I'm guessing we'll get to see a WR

Welcome to Manchester reception committee
it makes no sense.

Although Brazil is not yet 1st world, there are plenty of monied people in Rio and Sao Paulo, certainly enough to attend a sports event. And I thought Brazil loved live sport.

Looks like the zika scare has put off most international tourists, even though that seems unfounded as the athletes have turned up!

A real shame and also ultimately a disastrous decision by the IOC.
I was watching BBC4 last night. The suggestion by a Rio based reporter was that basically Brazil loves football and winning. The rest of it doesn't really rate much of a response. The idea of the global event where people will go to watch a different sport just for the novelty just hasn't caught the imagination.

On the practical side, even ignoring ticket costs and the economy, people are finding it hard to go to events. Apparently when the swimming ends after midnight, the crowd are expected to catch buses to the train station, but some nights the station has already been shut when the buses arrive.

Three-way tie is absolutely mental.

Shows how fine the margins are when three people can finish in the exact same hundredth of a second.

She beat second by 12 seconds, which is more then the time between 2nd and 8th
Yeah but can she successfully balance a pringle on that space between her nose and mouth and make it look like a moustache? Didn't think so.
