Still a midfielder playing in an advanced role. Can't be called a forward

Amazing how they just picked him up from MK Dons for 5m. Makes you wonder why first of all they sold him so cheap and second why there wasn't a queue of clubs looking to sign him.

He's quietly brilliant, you've got to give him his due. I can definitely see the Lampard comparisons as his movement is so clever in and around the box.

I think you're doing Lampard a disservice however I agree in terms of Alli, the kids got a bit of class about him but I'm not really sure what his ceiling is? I don't see him ever being a 20 goal a season midfielder (not year after year anyway) like Lampard or Gerrerd nor do I see him ever having the Gerrard like ability to drag a team to a win when the odds are against. I almost feel what he is now is about as good as he's going to ever be which inevitably means eventually he won't be good enough as better players come along
Not saying that he is as good as Lampard (or that he'll ever be), but it looks to me that he has a quite similar style.
Where does this idea Lampard wasn't influential come from? His stats for passing, tackling and distance covered were always amongst the best in the league. Lampard was super influential on games.
I am saying compared to the likes of Scholes or Gerrard. He was influential, but his main thing were scoring a lot of goals, even when he was not doing that much. Alli is quite similar, although still nowhere Lampard's quality (and well, he is still very young so that is to be expected).

The Lampard comparison is a good one. Top of a three man midfield / behind the striker / coming in late.

I do like a good header, and it was fantastic to see two top headers from him. Hes on hot form right now but I do like him.

He played in the MK dons 4-0 win against that muffed United lineup a few years ago, right? I remember him and that Reeves dude have good games.

Not always, Son played there the other day and Alli played with Eriksen in between Wanyama & Son.

He's not utilised as a second forward, depending on what system Poch uses he occupies a number of roles.
Today definitely second striker. Seeing how in both goals, Kane dropped deep when Erikssen in possession to cross, to take out both tall CBs so Alli can stay furthest central on A (still can't spell his name)

Take away "young". Deli Alli is arguably England's best player currently (best on current form).

I like what Pochetino is doing with the English lads at Spurs. Bodes well for England. Until you remember it's England.

wow! Quite some talent.

Shame for you that he'll be playing at Old Trafford soon.

We all love United
He's the next Paul Pogba, not in terms of style and skillset but the next sought after young player with actual talent by the big clubs. We should really test Spurs's resolve in the summer

I think he's far more important to Spurs and England than Kane.

I missed the start of the match but it looked like he was playing on the left of the front 3 against Chelsea, that certainly gives Pochettino and Southgate tactical flexibility, it will be interesting to see what position he develops into.

Poor move playing Azpi against a taller Deli. Any decently sized CB would have intercepted those headers for those goals.

Not centre midfield but attacking midfielder.
He doesn't drop deep though. His heat map v a Normal no 10 would be identical imo.
You never look at Alli and think he controlled a game like a Pogba or a Modric etc. It's all centred around his impace in and around the opposition penalty area.

Not really a midfielder for today. Great game nevertheless for him picking on Azpi' lack of aerial ability & Moses' terrible positioning.

While Alli is great at timing and picking his position, I don't think he's next Bale or anything. Not the type enforcing thing, but just a great asset for certain style of play. Closer to Griezmann than Bale.

May not be able to carry England like Bale with Wales, but same old England with bunch of individuals let the game pass by with no one taking responsibility enforcing thing through. There wouldn't be Erikssen's play making or Dembelele's dribbling to break opponent line so he can mask his movement and be at the end of thing.

Their marking was awful, i mean really you could have any cb pairing in league history; if they had that starting position the result would have been the same.

I think teams have perhaps been giving Chelsea a bit too much respect, Tottenham to their credit didn't do that and got at them.

Could be a great player but don't think we need him.

Could cause more problems than solutions.

Dele Alli has reached 20 Premier League goals in 52 apps; faster than midfielders such as Paul Scholes (74), David Beckham (90), Frank Lampard (140) and Steven Gerrard (169).

Can he keep it up? Sure hope so. Would be great viewing.

I think he can keep it up when you look at the quality of his goals. Just overall good goals, he chooses corners regularly and has the technical ability to properly finish.

Comfortably our best midfielder let alone young. Saying that, needs to put in some decent performances for England now.

He is, without a doubt. Like Frank Lampard with a bit more pace and steel about him.

Really great player. Him and Kane have a similar connection to Pogba and Ibra. Would love them both at Man Utd

I don't get all the fuss about him. Sure, he's good, but not with the potential to be world class or anything. I think there is a bit of overrating going on here with regards to his potential.
