Was better in the 2nd half I thought. Should be rested on the weekend.

His production has been incredible.
No doubt he'll be given a break vs Blackburn but I hope he doesn't start 2nd leg vs St. Etienne. Looked really gassed tonight and needs a breather as we have got a cup final in 10 days time.

Hell no. 8 of 10. Hattrick jammy or not.
I don't think a number can describe what we've just seen. Hatrick scored by a player having a shocker. I'd have no idea how to rate it.

Its all relative. We are winning and Zlatan is scoring.
Haha sure it is. From saying "who cares" about goals to frequent goal tally poster. Quite a turnaround. I get it though. You're a big fan, you defend your man.

Yes, I support the players rather than subvert them.

It's amazing, he didn't play particularly well but he got three goals. Of course he's had his moments, but goals aside, not one of his best performances for us.
One thing that annoys me about him and that I think is a reason for him being offside relatively often is that he tends to walk back after a missed chance. If we then manage to get the ball back quickly, he's offside and we can't capitalize on it.

Has a goal drought. "He's costing us points, he misses sitters, he's spent!"
He scores goals, scores a hattrick: "He's slowing us down, his overall play is poor, he looks bad despite the goals."

Fantastic...

oh and ugly hattrick. :wenger:

Watch out. Here come 'he was rubbish aside from the goals' posts!
I think what people are saying is that going forward he can't be that poor because he won't always get that lucky.

Don't think anybody is trying to play down a hatrick.

It's just realism to think we won't get away with his and a team performance like that come business end of the season.

That's a lie though since he also created at least a couple of chances and got us some dangerous free kicks.

I love how you can defend Rooney for ages but now we need to replace Zlatan to be more fluid. That kind of delusion is really something else. And you obviously don't even realise it.
I'm not really criticizing Zlatan. He's been great this season and one of the major reasons we're where we are. I just think that going forward, if we want to win the league, we should go all out for a top striker in the summer. I just think this attack has a lot of potential to improve.

There really aren't any top strikers available who would displace Ibra if he stays another year. I do think we need more attacking options and Griezmann would be great if we manage to sell Rooney.

Anyone have an opinion on the "foul" for his penalty? that actually annoyed me, and no I don't hate Ibra or want him replaced.

I would take a young pacier striker up top. It's been years since we've seen any pace upfront at United and with the sheer number of chances we create, I think any half decent striker will get to 20 goals for us. Griezman isn't going to replace Zlatan and I don't want him to play over Martial so hope that doesn't happen.

Well if he keeps going forward like this he will get like 35-40 goals on him. What are our standards from a striker? 50-60 goals a season? Its very hard for one player reaching thoose numbers.

So scoring 23 goals is piss easy? And it's only February.

One can admit to him being rubbish in a game and still scoring. Ronaldo has made a career out of it over the last season or two.

A hat trick and people still can't see how good he is. 23 goals in middle of February is a cracking return.
He of course needs runners in behind him, that won't be a problem with Martial's return to the side coupled with Mkhitaryan.
First one was lucky but he still drove it under the wall, which made his own luck.
Second one was good instinct.
Third one he won the penalty, and put it away emphatically.
Don't downplay the goals, it's remarkable how many chances he gets, it's not down to luck, his experience and quality make all the difference.

Great post.
Right .. so .. taking a post 20 minutes into the 2nd half before he scores a tap in and a penalty .. and making it look like a shocking post? Well done.

Do you think he performed well tonight? A deflected goal, a tap in after some great work from Rashford, and a penalty, that admittedly he won.

I haven't said his previous goals were lucky have I? I'm only talking about tonight. Along with a few other recent signs of fatigue.

It's difficult to debate this because he just scored a hatrick. Nor am I saying it to play that down.

That tonight though was a very tired performance with a huge dollop of luck on top. The guy needs a rest.

I prefer Martial off the left where he can put his dribbling to good use. Rashford is good but not good enough to be first choice starter yet imo.

He could have easily scored some 10 more goals. That is how much we create (and miss).
