I think he's had a good-very good season on the whole but he's utter crap in big games. Bizarrely so.
I don't think Pogba's had a good season by any sense of the word.

At best he's been average, and inconsistently so at that.

We can't play Pogba without a defensive work horse in midfield.. He's a liability with defensive responsibilities due to his laziness closing down and tracking players.. He needs to play has a ten.

What's wrong with him?
I'll defend him, but I do think the fact Pogba has played 40 games already this season, plus the Euros in the summer is telling. Look at Kante who played a couple in the Euros and only 30 games there is a massive difference.

Pogba and kante would have been the ultimate combo. We missed the train on signing him

you have such an agenda, its actually quite hilarious.

He has been shite all season, albeit a tiny number of games he did alright, when we bullied fodder teams. He's not even a flat track bully. And his attitude stinks.

Try actually being objective instead of trying to prove you're right.

Looked fired up and right up for shutting everyone up for those first 15-20 minutes. Kept it simple, made some good challenges and interceptions and played the ball quickly. Then he reverted to type, where he starts jogging around, taking 5 touches too many, trying to hold the ball up against 3 opposing players in the centre circle, having no sense of danger whatsoever.

He could do with sitting out midweek, and maybe even against Boro. We should win them both, and it's not like we really need him to win games as his presence is wildly inconsistent, but it has been mostly poor in the last few weeks.

Him and fellaini were terrible, thought he should have been subbed off for blind instead of fellaini coming on for mikh.

How has he had a good to very good season? What are we comparing his season to? The dross we've had to suffer through the last few years? or an actual world class talent?

I just said he's been bizarrely crap in big games. Hardly shining with positivity.

We just have different opinions on his season overall. It's a bit weird you think I have an agenda. Against what?

Knew he'd be shite because it was a big game. He's just young but acting like he's the finished article doesn't help.

We played 6 at the back with a man down. He had the midfield job with Fellaini with Rashford the only outlet marked by three Chelsea centerbacks. There was absolutely nothing in the setup that allowed him to show anything in this second half.

A nothing performance.
He really needs to step up and do alot better,he has been poor for a while now and doesnt perform in big games.
He has alot to work on.

And Mou must find the courage to sub/bench him when he plays like today.
Cant carry passengers in games like this.

Much as we all want to be as good as he can be straight away, it looks like he needs a bit of time, so personally I'm happy to be very patient with him, as he'll undoubtably be our midfield maestro for years to come.

Seriously he is being played with the least amount of freedom and it shows in his performances.

If we bought him to play in a 2 man midfield it will take a good couple of years to change his game to do so.

For example - we haven't seen it here yet but we know he can shoot. Do you expect him to shoot from the halfway line or in the final third?

It has less to do with him & Jose's inability to utilize players like Carrick (until half the season), schweinsteiger ( not sure) but most importantly Blind. We have a CDM who can cover the CB regions who is probably the 2nd or 3rd best passer in the whole squad.

Jose showed that he was flexible today as well as him being inflexible.

I think it's you with the agenda. To say he's been shite all season is simply not true, and to single him out in the last couple of games is unfair too.

I´m trying really hard to like and root for him to do well but with performances like these it's very hard. He has to improve, can't be this bad for much longer.

Pogba was poor tonight but there are some reactionary cnuts in here tonight. He's been good for us overall and he'll get better. He's 23 and is a brilliant player, he definitely needs to improve in the bigger games. People need to be more patient because he's quality, I've no doubt he'll be the main man in Europe in two years. Some of youse need to clam down.

You mean the latest worst performance.
Nope. He has had more number of good performances than bad ones. Very underwhelming in big games and unreal expectations ruins it for him though.

Note: no need to reply with anything. You are a bizarre agenda driven tool.

What to not jog around the pitch when we have 10 men? such unreal expectations

I think his poor/abject performances in our big games cloud people's judgement of his season as a whole.

They're the complete antithesis of each other in a really interesting way. Pogba is clearly more talented, but Kante is unrelentingly effective. I'm not convinced I'd swap, but there is no doubt Chelsea fans wouldn't either, and they're currently getting a lot more from him.

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what it is he does? Other than silly things outside of football.

erm...becuase he should have been man marking Kante and certainly closed him down?

Oh I forgot, Pogba is not supposed to defend. or something.
Who said he was meant to man mark him? Can you even man mark with 10 men?
He's stopping the passing lanes on the left and gets across quick enough to Kante when he gets the ball. Kante wasn't even behind Pogba when he took the shot.
Sometimes it's just a good goal

It's rare I get on his back, but we need him to be that spark that Hazard was for them tonight. Not necessarily play the same, just be the spark. He doesn't play with anywhere near that energy or precision (Hazards shooting was wayward but his passing and movement was quick and precise).

Whilst I think hes a good player, I think people have a right to vent when hes trotting around the pitch like a pony when we have 10 men in an important game.
I also think people have a right to vent when yet again he goes completely missing in a big game.
Whilst I think he can be a great player he needs to seriously sort his shit out and show more commitment

Hold on, is there some nutcases on here think Pogba has had a good season overall? Feck me, that's delusional.

The fact he hasn't ONCE performed well against any good side pretty much destroys the idea of a good season. For god sake, the bloke got bullied by Jordan Henderson.

Pogba, in a situation where he's going to be asked to defend more, is completely unreliable. To paraphrase Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow: "I love opposition players, I like to wave at them as they pass by." He doesn't tackle, I'm sure he was the one Hazard turned a couple of times, he's just a liability when it comes to defending Now, I do think he has his plus points further up the pitch, or even deep as a passing midfielder, but a player that basically needs his hand holding by a controlling/holding midfielder to get the best out of him is not the player you want down to ten men. I'd have taken him off for Blind (probably along with the Mkhi > Fellaini one).

Ignoring his performance, I can't really understand how he can finish game like this and have a laugh with Conte enjoying himself while the fans are mad as hell. I find it amazing that a player who is apparently in love with the club acts like that. I was with my mum and dad and they couldn't cheer me up tonight after the red card, but he is there on the pitch and he doesn't care. I am probably idiot for being mad.

Careful, you might get tarred as picking on him as a scapegoat or some other such BS.
You also need to temper all your posts on him with.. "But he'll come good!" or similar.
