I don't like his lack of link up play, close control in tight spaces or movement in the final 3rd, and I think when you play with a #9 like him you build everything towards him, we are doing that with Ibra right now, he's too one dimensional IMO. I'd like a #9 in the mold of Lewandowski or Suarez.
I'd rather we didn't have a partnership and use a more fluid front 3 with a proper 3 man midfield to get the best out of Pogba.

Lukaku barely got a touch today. Barkley on the other hand got plenty of time on the ball and was dreadful. I would be fecked off if United spent decent money on him.

Barkley was the one who really showed again today that he's nowhere near good enough for a top 4 club. Talented but needs lots of improvement if he's to play at a higher level.
Everton as a whole was bad yesterday, they didn't even create anything for Lukaku tbh. Surround him with better teammates and he will be much better. Tho i admit, his first touch is quite poor.
You can't judge an Everton player based on the Merseyside derby - they will always, always be terrible in that match.
If Lukaku fails to make an impact against us though on Tuesday then that would say more, since Everton always give their all against United in contrast to their performances against Liverpool, so that's a completely different opportunity for him to show his worth.

You do have a point. I mean you can judge the players mentality for being a huge shithouse ( not just him) but judging a Everton players genral ability in this game is not the best sample.
His decision making against us was dreadful (which was good for us actually), few times he had a teammates open and free on the sides in what would have been a great scoring opportunity yet everytime he just wanted to shot himself from a far.

He's a good striker, no doubt, physically a beast and a good finisher. The downside though is what was seen from him last night. There were a few occasions where he simply didn't see the pass, I don't think it was greed, just a lack of awareness. I think it was Mirallas who had an easy finish if Lukaku had seen him.
He is limited so should never play as a lone striker. He is no pass and move merchant, so shouldn't play in a team that does that sort of stuff(linking up in the final third using the striker as a wall). He's great at what he can do, however if you want him to do things he cant do you're better off not getting him on board.
Wasn't there a stat published recently that he has had no shots v United and Chelsea/Liverpool this season? (Or something like that). A bit concerning that he doesn't show in the biggest games though in fairness could be due to Evertons set up as well.

I still think he has a lot to learn. He's not what this team needs at the moment if Ibrahimovic leaves. The replacement has to be at his peak, world class and ready to lead this team. The problem is that there's no player available at the moment i.e. Lewandowski. Will be even more difficult if the club continues to struggle - players won't be interested in joining, because they won't believe in the club's ability to win anything in the near future.
But if it's going to be a 'non-world class' but with the potential to be one - maybe Belotti, Icardi or even Andre Silva. They seem to have much better potential than Lukaku in my opinion. But it's just a guess, no one can no how they are going to develop. For instance, everyone thought that Ibrahimovic's top level was over when he was about 30, but he continued to develop despite being that old.
Looked absolutely dead on his feet for about 30 minutes last night. Think he'd do much better without having to be the only forward up top. Everton have almost zero threat other than him and they're so reliant on him to score that he runs himself into the ground.

Hope we never touch either of them, both massively overrated. Lukaku gets dominated by half decent defenders and I don't think even Barkley knows where he plays.

I think he'd be just as effective as Diego is but also has an aerial threat that Costa really doesn't. They both have pretty average first touch and both give the ball away often so there won't be much of a drop off there. Both are best running on to the ball in open space, and both will get you at least 20 goals in the league.
Lukaku wouldn't be a red card risk every match and doesn't have injury history like Costa. If we are losing him Lukaku would slot right in and I don't think we'd miss a beat, much as I love Diego.
Me neither. Lukaku is a flat track bully anyways. He has only scored 3 goals this season against 'the big 6' opposition. Last season he scored 4. Hardly the makings of a £90million striker.
Pogba has been a flat track bully this season (though honestly, he hasn't been that great against the other sides either) and you bought him for £90m.
And look at how much flack he has took all season.
I think you're doing Costa a disservice there, he is a better footballer then Lukaku and links up well with Hazard, Fabregas, Pedro and Willian. He does blow hot and cold though and managers struggle to keep him in check for long.
