Also, Ignore Forum and/or Ignore Thread options, any possibility to get that here?

If not, maybe some tampermonkey userscript guru could fix us up with something?
Not quite the same but with regards to Ignore Forum people just PM one of us admins if they want to be banned from a particular forum (usually
CE)
Damien, any thoughts on the "Ignore Thread" option? Not a whole forum, just ignoring one thread so you won't see it altogether when signed in.

The current best way is to ignore the thread starter. So you've got to weigh up if it's worth it!

The text box to write posts doesn't show as a "hint" when using vimium or similar extensions to browsers, however the search box on top does.

Would be nice to make it work, I know it does on some other forums (although I'm not sure if those are xenforo too).

I suggested to my son that at 16 he should now sign up to the caf.

He said when they've got an app I will..

Any chance or is it something that's a dream?

A dream. Niall prefers to make everything on caf responsive and compatible with mobile to counter the need for an app.

Cheers Damo. Had no idea if it was even conceivable, but had to ask!

Don't get the fascination with apps. The mobile version is ace (goddamn awful ads apart). People these days are so spoilt.

The mobile version is great, I post from it 99% of the time.

No ads is also lovely.

Is he on Android? If so, open redcafe up on the Chrome app. In the options you can select 'Save to Home Screen' and it'll save a direct link to the Caf on the homepage as if it were an app. It's even got a nifty red and white RC logo.

Thanks for the info mate, but he has an iPhone.

The mobile version is what I use btw, always on my phone to view the caf. It is indeed, spot on.

You're just 7,299 posts away from being ad-free on mobile.
I have an advertisement box permanently at the bottom of my screen (whether I move the page up or down or not). I've only noticed this in the last 24 hours. Is this something new that's been implemented or is my iPhone buggered? :)

Same on both android and iPad, it's quite annoying especially on the phone as it's constantly changing ads

Same. Only appeared today; incredibly annoying as it steals screen space on already not very big device.

At least it's not a virus

That sticky ad should be gone now. Sorry about that, shouldn't have been visible.

This can be solved by turning off the rich text editor btw, in case someone else has the same problem.

There's a PES editing community I sometimes go on (sad, I know) called evo-web. It has really handy feature, like floating scroll buttons. Makes browsing on a pc a pleasure.
Just putting it out there for consideration.

Not quite sure what you mean. Something like the top navigation staying visible at all times as you scroll down the page?

No. Nothing so obtrusive. Just two little up/down arrows that float at the side of the page for scrolling up and down the page. They only appear when you get half way down the page, I think.
Do you not use a mouse with a scrolly thingy or touch pad, or the up/down keys or page up/page down keys?

I don't generally do it but when old threads are commented on, they're quickly shut down. For example, someone commented on the Josh King thread which was first created a number of years ago, but it was closed. I quite like reading the old comments and seeing how the discussion evolves over a period of time.

I'm sure there's a very good reason for closing these threads, but what is it?

So that a new thread is created for the discussion. Bumping very old threads is discouraged. The Josh King thread you're talking about was in the Utd forum btw so anyways not relevant anymore.

But why? The old discussion is sometimes, not always of course, interesting to read.

Understand the point about which forum it's in - that makes sense.

You can still read those threads though. Its just posting in them that gets stopped.

A poster can always link to an old thread when they create a new thread in the appropriate forum. Old threads usually have a lot of broken/missing links and people end up responding to posts that are years old, and posters who no longer visit the site.

People don't always notice it's a bumped thread until they've read a couple of dozen posts, and realised they're now irrelevant or obsolete. Then they complain instead.

Is there any shortcut on mobile for refreshing a page when you reach the bottom of it on the Caf. If I wanted to quickly refresh it to see if there are new posts rather than scrolling all the way back to the top or having to open the chrome menu.

Can you not just swipe down on your phone to refresh the page?

When I scroll back to the top, if I swipe down it'll refresh. But I'm trying to avoid scrolling back to the top and refresh it while at the bottom of the page.

It's easier to explain when in person

Using Chrome? Just refresh from the top right options button? Or just press the address bar and click go again?
