I've got no agenda for feck's sake  This is exactly the same criticism to come from Neville himself, I can bet my ass that it's the same problem Mourinho has with him. They've all got agenda against him as well?

That pass was NOT impossible to make because Carrick wanted to perform it, what's hard to understand there? You can even see him facing Martial's direction, wanting to pull it off and having to drop the idea because there's no movement. Aguero being behind him doesn't change anything in that scenario.
Aguero closing him down in the moments Carrick wanted to make that long pass to Martial doesn't change anything? Props to Carrick for being able to make that pass without taking a step or 2 to build up some power in his leg.

He has always been diligent tracking back. Mourinho was pleased with him tonight.

So why Aguero's closing down didn't stop Carrick from actually passing it to Valencia? Why hasn't Aguero dispossed him? Carrick needs to make a 10 yards dash before he can send the ball for 30 yards now?

@Kostur If you look at Carrick in the moment he was receiving the pass from Mikhi he was already backing down and turning around, which means he absolutely had no desire to make that pass which only proves you choose the wrong example.

This is what happen when one play too much Fifa or spent countless times talking bollocks on Internet forums.

Players being expected to constantly run rags opponents defenders while their own teams are spending 90% of the game defending and camped in their own half is a reflection of some fantaisy football people have thought out in their mind.

You get a go at your attacking players not doing their job if the team is set up to do so not when attacking was clearly not on Jose's mind today. Everyone was back defending and we were constantly pressurised and pinned in our OWN half.

Some ridiculous posts.

Him and Mkhi put in a lot of hard yards today.

Jose will be pleased with the pair of them.

Him and Rashford had a tough job given the lack of service. Miki did feck all to help.

Some nice runs in the first half and he'll have better days for sure.

Carrick is standing right at the middle of the pitch, on the half-line. Considering if Martial made that run that pass should have been around 40 yards long of not longer because it was a diagonal pass. No way that was just 30 yards pass as you're saying.

Yes, and hence he's screaming at Martial at the end of the clip because he's suffering from some illness.

Nothing to blame him on today considering we weren't building any attacks from the second half.

He made some awesome dribbles and take-ons at the start of the match but as the match progressed we set much back defensively and he got no balls.

The problem was mainly in the midfield who couldn't control the ball for 2 seconds under pressure. He has not to blame for. Nor Rashford as well.

Our front three seemed completely disinterested in passing the ball around. It felt like every time we got the ball, we passed it to one of Martial, Mkhi or Rashford as quickly as possible and they proceed to loose it while trying to dribble past the entire city defense individually.

I think it must be the instructions. Regardless, our attackers were crap today.

He was the only attacking player who showed any spark at all, all game. A few of his runs were great. If Mkhi wasn't so poor, and especially if Fellaini wasn't such an oaf, he could have been the outlet from which to score on the counter. He also defended well. Second half he was poor on the ball though.
6 or 7/10 overall.
Rashford showed much more offensive spark than Martial today, having said that neither of them had very much support up front. Martial had an ok game, but he definitely isn't playing to his potential.

Rashford showed how fast he was, on the ball there was 1st dribble against Otamendi but that's it - when he faced a defender he lost the ball. Martial OTOH was getting past the 1st challenge easily. I think only Kompany consistently got the better of him, otherwise he was able to go froward with the ball quite easily.

Loved Martial but thinking he might just not be that bright a footballer and this might limit him.

Really glad to hear that, just keep repeating that agenda word and perhaps it finally becomes truth.
Can't do much more. Presented you with evidence (distance, Carrick body language that shows he had no desire to make that pass to begin with and later when he did, Aguero was closing in on him and you can see Carrick was aware of that since he shielded the ball) but you keep trying to deny it.

Therefore there's no need to waste my time since you're ignoring the evidence you yourself have posted.

Very pleased with his work rate today. Basically played like a left back half the game. Mourinho gave him the "well done" hug, shows he's pleased too.

I don't really understand the argument that he should have done better offensively. Both him and Rashford were extremely isolated every time they got the ball, with none of the CMs ever looking to break out. In the first half when the CMs pushed with them, they led a couple of nice counters. 2nd half it was all hands at the pumps.

Happy with him.

Mourinho seemed quite pleased with him when he came off. Arm around the shoulder and lots of that touchy touchy stuff.

Think Mourinho took him off cause he was tired. he's not the kind of player you want defending your box when he's tired. Good effort.

This is a performance Mourinho likes (lots of tracking back, defensive) and I think the fans don't.

He doesn't. He obviously chose Martial to influence the game from an attacking sense or he would have went with Lingard who does that defensive role better.

I think he needs to play down the middle or let rashford go left or even swap at times, unless given pure freedom on the left then thats fine but dont think he can defend, attack and stick to instructions all at the same time lol...he just needs the ball played because hes a good finisher, has pace and makes good runs at times if its for a goalscoring opportunity otherwise he just wants it to feet.

Would make a good left back, if Mourinho couldn't get over the Shaw hump.

Have we got running stats for Martial to prove that Mourinho's management has inspired him to new levels?

He's too ineffective for my liking. Doesn't influence the game enough.
Far from his worst performance, but yeah. We were set up defensively but with more quality all round, including this side, we'd see more in a game like that.

Was hurt by our mentality in the second half and spent a lot of time in our half defending which is a shame since he had some success in the first half and seemed to be causing Zabaleta some problems. Was happy with his effort but it was one of those games where we didn't display much attacking intent so he couldn't shine.

Martial is still somewhat inexperienced. He's a good player when the pressure is off but when its tight and we NEED someone to step up, its very unlikely he'll be the one to do that.

I still think he's best down the middle. Pair him and Rashford up as a strike partnership similar to Yorke and Cole. We'll see more goals I reckon.
