Is he drunk? (totally serious)
Where has this come from? I'm not saying that you're saying he has a drinking problem but I've seen it floated quite a few times on here. I googled it and didn't find anything.

Are there genuine rumours that he's addicted to alcohol or are people just thinking that's a theory as to why his decline has been so rapid?

And yet the bloke who was supposed to track / mark the crosser and didn't gets away scott free!
Given this is a Wayne Rooney thread, his defence is always "well player x didnt do this" etc.
That is seriously the only positive comment towards him.

Well. The cross. Literally the pass that makes the goal.

Once you let the cross in you're at risk. Rooney was poor but the bigger issue was no one at all covering the bloke who was unmarked by about 20 feet to make the cross. Luckily for his marker, hes so far away from the player we have no idea whos to blame. So lets pile in on rooney for a change!
Yeah I'll just end up saying I want our team to track their men again. Its a simple concept. I was taught it at Sunday league and if my man scored, it was my fault.

And there's a probably a reason Rooney gets piled in on constantly and the reason is probably because he's shite now.

Regardless of the rumours he's out there playing like some lad who's showed up to 5-a-side half-cut.

I really don't care what anyone claims about sacrificing his body over the years and playing so many games. The guy has clearly not been putting enough effort in on the training field. He can barely kill a 5 yard pass.

He's just wondering around in empty spaces doing feck all. He needs to retire.

I'm just thankful that he isn't a regular starter anymore. Just imagine if LVG had stayed another year, with his "my captain shall always play"-policy still in place.

Yeah, but you only seem to care about rooney tracking his man. The bloke who didn't track the crosser is irrelevant in your sunday league world.

I assume that as this is the rooney thread you've pointed to rooney, but in the match thread you've talked about the man who didn't track the crosser, as its the same concept.

Rooney just can't adapt, he is playing box to box, left back forward, 10, winger, CB like he is 18. Just sit and hold and pass the ball, you fecking wanker

Looking over my shoulder.
Try reading my original comment again. I said that his marking was shocking. I also made reference to him being a striker and smaller than Wanyama. People seem to have focused on the latter (and contested it), but anyway..
Him being a striker has nothing to do with it. He has said he can play as a midfielder. He can't. Plenty of attackers know how to defend inside their own box. He used to be good at it.

I'm actually starting to feel sorry for him, he looks like a 40 year old who hasn't played 10 years and has just been roped into playing a game of Sunday league.

Has a player ever fallen to such plummets?

What level do you think he's playing at? I genuinely think he'd struggle in a League 1 game.

I know top 4 is long gone.

But watching him still starting for us just angers me.
I'm with you on that. Loved Wayne in his prime but ability wise I'm not far from him right now (no joke)

Your second paragraph is correct.

If we want to talk about the cross, we were a man short. Blind tracked Son, I think Mata had the corner taker. We didn't have anyone for Davies. That's bad organisation/preparation. Although I'd say it's more organisation as someone should see that and sort it out on the pitch.

Game is getting to him. Shooting from the halfway line, leaving Wanyama for the goal, niggly fouls...

Probably been told he's off.

Fernando Torres?

Went from top 10 in the world to an absolute joke in months.

Rooney has been shite for years now. People are just much more willing to accept it.
Torres all round game was miles better though. His finishing just turned to shit.

Forget everything, this is a fecking disgrace at this point. We are fecking carrying the club captain.
How can you not be surprised we are the way we are. We have a captain that doesn't even have a leg to stand on to tell other players to raise their game.
Not acceptable at a club of this level.

That pass he made after exchanging passes with Carrick on the free kick.

Really lads, no need to get our panties in a twist over Rooney. I choose to look at the funny side and see how inept he's actually become. He's embarrassing himself out there.

Another bonus are the ridiculous excuses his defenders keep coming up with. Forum gold.

Can't help but feel jealous of Spurs fans getting to say goodbye to their decrepit old relic today.

Seriously though, even I'm feeling sad for him today. I know his unprofessionalism landed him in this state, but I think this is isn't the way he should go out. Just give him 10 mins at the end of the next two games. 90 mins showing all that he hasn't got anymore is too sad imo..

That's the club's fault entirely for giving him this much power. The directors are responsible for this shambles. Let's hope they do something about it at the end of the season..

It's sad to watch, but I'm holding to the hope that he will depart this summer. There's absolutely no way he can start in final, heck he shouldn't even make the bench but probably will. Other than that, hopefully his days are numbered.

Indeed. That wasn't a complete mismatch at all.
He was nowhere near him and only just got off the ground
