But SAF still won the league without Hazard, though ?

Also for the question in the post, may be because our manager has another targets in his lost that are more priority for him ? May be Silva was a priority for fans but doesn't mean he's a priority for our manager. He's free to do what he want and he will hold responsibility for next season.

As I told you, we won't prevent our opponents from getting good players. They will get great players and we will too.
He was SAF. That argument no longer applies here. If we wont prevent, We wont win and dominate. This era is not easy at all. Top clubs punch according to their weight and sometimes above.

Some appear to be getting confused. It's Bernardo Silva. Not Lionel Messi.

A very good player but much like James not someone who I think we would desperately need, griezmann and a number nine are more essential as we already have mata, Mikh and pereira to come back as well.

Doesn't really seem like an essential signing for city either but they look like they might get Fabinho, mendy and walker as well which will make them very good team next season.

We can't sign everyone you want to sign.
Maybe we're playing 4-3-3 next year and Griezmann plays Silva's position as an inside forward?
Maybe he wants to frontload the 3 attacking positions with goals to compensate the rest of our squad which Silva doesn't provide?
Maybe he sees Perreira as a legitimate option for next year? Maybe he sees Gomes coming through and doesn't want to sign a 22 year old in his position?
We are effing man united, there is no young ronaldo or rooney or carrick to dominate this league out there. We are short of creativity and wide players , and spending world record on every player is not the way. Also we need to hold the ball better against the philosophies pep and klopp are playing frankly speaking, Parking the bus is not how we want to see united play.

You are expected to perform well everywhere you play. You think Anderlecht doesn´t have pressure to qualify for the CL domestically to maintain their financial dominance in their local market. B

Besides what´s he competing against? A 6th place finish, scoing less goals as a team than under Moyes and Carrick/Sideshow Bob/Herrera. Give me break. If you have 17-18 good players you can rotate the team through four competitions. United don´t even have 11 good starters.
He'd be expected to be an integral part of leading a team to a PL title and at least a couple good cup runs also.
Anderlecht has pressure yes, but their league is nothing compared to PL, similarly for Monaco.

So yes he will be expected to perform well, however the pressure and intensity at United is a completely different beast. Memphis is a great example of that.

I can understand why younger players make this intermediate step, but when I look at a team like United and you tell me they can´t guarantee somebody like Tielemans 40 games a season immediately? Now he goes to Monaco for €25M and in two years they´ll sell him to somebody for €60M. Sometimes it seems that getting a bargain is not cool anymore. It´s t like only the transfer fee defines the class of the player.
Been saying this since around the time of the Vidal debacle. Why weren't we in for him when he left Leverkusen? What do our scouts actually get paid for? Are we always just looking to splurge big because we can now? Is that the profile? Kagawa and Miki both were refusing to sign contracts that's why they were cheap. Bailly looks a good signing at an average price as does Ander. But why not go for the top players earlier and play them? It's not like we've been pulling up many trees the last few years and in the example I used above Vidal was exactly the kind of midfielder who would have perfectly complimented Carrick. We need to be more on the ball. I guess these things take time. Fergie liked to buy within the league, foreign players who suited his system or bargain players and it worked pretty well for him. Our last two managers were incompetent so it will take time to build again.

Makes my blood boil seeing the level of players we field while City keeps stockpiling on top attacking talents like this. Ruined my weekend, can't even enjoy the cup win properly now.
Ok. Have a word with yourself.

Thanks. To be fair, I wasn't expecting you to agree with me ;)

I'm not going to get involved in the wider Silva discussion on this thread as emotions are running pretty high, suffice to say that both clubs were always going to spend big this window and as such United will sign some great players this summer too.
Look, we all throw money around like it's going out of fashion these days. Annoys me when some try to take the moral high ground, especially Chelsea fans who would be nothing without Roman's cash. But here we are - they didn't ask for his cash so why should they complain?

I want us and City competing next season, Liverpool in 8th and the London clubs to feel sorry for themselves.

I wonder if they are having a meltdown over at other football forums or is it only here...

Finally a sensible post. We have several more pressing concerns in the squad than improving on Mata and Mikhi. Silva is a great player but not the type of player we need right now
Think you are right. But I am not sure what sort of attacker really suits us. I am of the impression that any forward thinking attacking player is not suitable for us, because if we make them track back and defend and then judge their attacking contribution, then most attackers will struggle.

I think Mane would have been absolutely perfect for us.

He's a good player but not really a priority for us. We need goalscorers the most when you look back at all the chances that have been missed this season. Griezmann should be the main target along with another 20 goal a season striker to play upfront. Once those two players are signed we might look to get a centre back and a defensive midfielder.

The best attack in league just got better. Like De Bruyne and Sane, another one I think we'll regret not going for.
Why did they barely scrape a top four spot then?

City are overrated every single season. Pep or no Pep, I don't expect them to dominate under him, and he off soon anyway.

People need to relax. Jose has his signings in mind, he knows who he wants.

Sure, its disappointing when a top talent goes to another club, especially a rival, but there are other players who we can sign who will improve us just as much

And we loose him to for so called more attacking klopp, and get Mkh who plays like a train wreak and looses the ball when pressed trying to be direct when his abilities of being direct is being tested to the core.

We can't prevent. This isn't a one horse race here. You're playing in the league. You're not the only one with money and top manager. Chelsea and City got money, top manager and CL as well as us. You can't sign everything and leave them the scraps. It's impossible nowadays. No team is going to dominate the league forever as we did under SAF anyway.

The faster you recognize this, the better. We will bring great players, and City and Chelsea will bring great players as well. The one who brought the best players for their system and get his new players performing will win the battle. This will happen each season.
