Why 5? You mean all the midfield and attack except for Lukaku and Morata? Let's ditch poor Pogba, who can't play 4-4-2 except for France trashing England.
Why 5 players? All we need is make the team compact like Atletico did.

It's not going to happen but 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 is not outdated, there are teams who use this to good effect.
I meant: obviously 2 wingers, 1 central midfielder and 2 fullbacks as Valencia even as good as he is right now will be 32 years old in 1 month so we need to start thinking about replacing him (plus he's not exactly great in the final third).
The task isn't as simple as instructing present players to do more running and tackling, whilst staying productive. The profiles for individual positions must match the personnel.
It looks like it's an irrelevant topic anyway.

Care to Explain why? Arguments in support ?

You bet it is. He was the master of winning the EPL and this is what works the best against smaller teams where you need consistancy to get 3 points. Against the Philosophies Pep and Klopp Play Yes You need to play with Posession based principles like united did last season all season except last 2-3 months and the first month when mourinho dint find the right balance.
What I mean is that under SAF we were the team with the ball, he didn't had an anti possession plan. In 2010 for example United had the highest possession rate in the league, in general we were in the top five and pretty close to the top like during his last season with 54% which is high but in the norm for a dominant team.

It's actually rare to see teams above 55%, that's reserved to the like of Barcelona and the new Bayern Munich.

 Any other quotes?

I'd love to see the reactions when the news started to break last night.

Was there any friction between Jose and Lukaku at Chelsea? I can't quite recollect any details regarding the nature of their dynamic back then.

Some of you are in for a surprise, since it seems you haven't really seen Lukaku play. Terribly frustrating and limited player.
I have watched him plenty of times. We must have watched two different versions of Lukaku.

I was pretty pissed thinking he was going to Chelsea as he's better than Costa and would seriously improve them. Delighted that he looks set to sign for us. Really bit coup this.

Yeah he must be rubbish, any old sod can score 20 goals a season in the premier league.

I think I remember Jose being the first to text him and wish him well (according to reports) when he went to Everton. He left because he wanted to, not because Jose forced him out.

Yes, a downgrade. Staring blindly at goals scored misses the point. Zlatan's allround game is much better than Lukaku's.
United need goals so yes, I want a United striker to put the ball in the back of the net more, so being more clinical is infact an upgrade for a striker.

Zlatans all round player may be marginally better, but Zlatan also broke down a lot of our attacks by slow play and passing the ball to opposition players countless times. Lukaku is 24 so his all round play can surely improve also.

Are you watching closely?

It's not about his goal output (which is good).

The best modern strikers (at the level we should be aiming for) are players that also make the players around them better. Lukaku's isn't that type of player. He'll probably score a decent amount of goals, maybe even more than Zlatan, but that doesn't necessarily mean we'll be a better team.

Say what you want about Raiola, but he's a powerful man to have on our side.

He's right, there are many idiots on here. I mean calling Lukaku a donkey, or comparing him to playing Smalling up front, is idiotic.
Playing Smalling upfront half won us the Europa League, so…

Ibra scored 28. Replacing 1 with the other is not going to solve all our problems. We need the others to chip in too. That's why I think we need 2 strikers, not 1
Or at least a goalfriendly playmaker/secondary striker/winger.

Zlatan's all round play isn't marginally better, it's comfortably better in practically every regard.
No it's not. Zlatan's finishing is piss poor contrary to popular belief.
Lukaku is a better dribbler, has more pace and also has a better weaker foot.

Lukaku is significantly faster and probably stronger, but yep, Zlatan is pretty much better in every other aspect of the game.

I'm not going to waste my time trying to justify why I think he'll do well for us.

I think he will score goals for us from the word go to be honest but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Fantastic signing.

Zlatan is overrated by a lot of people on here, he done well for us but he cost us a lot of points by not putting away easy chances that I guarantee Lukaku would have buried. He's strong, powerful and capable of getting a goal out of nothing so I'm not really sure what the problem is he's as close to a sure thing as we'll get at this stage. I would love Morata as well but let's face it he's a massive risk.
