Im just baffled at why people think to come to this thread in particular after that half. Valencia is the full back to complain about - not Blind.
Both FBs are being criticized because they ahve been heavily involved in our play. Valencia got hosed in the match thread.

He hasn't been poor offensively at all. He has picked up great spaces and made great runs. His crossing hasn't been that poor and it obviously is going to be hard to pull off when they have 6+ men in the box compared to our 2 or so.

He just absolutely refuses to dribble the ball forward. Mahrez leaves him acres of space and is closer to Martial because he knows what Blind's gonna do, pass it back to Martial. And that's exactly what he does. Crossing has been pretty poor, too.

He's a pass and move player and there's nothing wrong with that.

Gary Neville couldn't beat a man either.

A good defender in 2004 standards. The days when defenders were expected to defend first and any contribution to attacking play was bonus are over. He should do better in attack.

Gary Neville was much better at crossing and defending though. Not to mention far more of a leader than Blind will ever be. Comparing him to Neville and Irwin misses the point, he's nowhere near as good as those players because he has their weaknesses but not their strengths.

Can't wait for next week's edition of "Blind is going to suffer against X Player's pace and trickery". It feels like people's memory gets wiped after every game.

He does alright but i think we should improve our left back.. fullbacks are so important in the game and he isnt adding that much.

He doesn't have the engine, pace of recovery or the attacking play for a full back especially in such a game.

Blind was caught up the field the few.times Mahrez got joy today in the 2nd half. He takes ages to get back and then even if he is back he becomes more.weak against the dribble due to fatigue.

I mean, he got rinsed by Mahrez a couple of a few times they ended up 1-on-1. The cross Mahrez flashed across the box comes to mind in particular. He also let King run free in stoppage time. Including his attacking contribution today, this wasn't a particularly great game for him.

Not a bad performance but can't see him as our main LB for a long time sadly enough.

Indeed. Think people really overlook the amazing awareness the guy shows. Especially today his positioning was borderline brilliant imho.
Don't know about that. Mahrez broke his ankles a few times. He's just way too slow.

Decent performance, but he lacks pace and attacking impetus. He's just a bit too passive at times. Luckily for him, Jones covers him well when required.

I was impressed with how well he got forward today. He's not a dribbler like Valencia, so he won't get by players, but his timing off his runs today were fantastic. Just a bit disappointed with his delivery.

Mahrez was supposedly his first test. Yeah, there were some instances Mahrez got past him, but then again every full back will make mistakes. And it's a team sport, teammates helping each other out. He did quite well in my opinion. Great positional awareness. 3 clean sheets. So far so good. No doubt certain areas still could do with some improvement, but he is hardly as bad as some make him out to be. And better than Darmian and Shaw.

To be fair to him, defensively he was very good. He made a few vital interceptions when covering. Hopefully, his delivery will improve but he's doing a good job so far.

He is a very good squad player, and his crossing was okay. It was better than Valencia's, at least he managed to clear the first player and the ball reached the opponent's box.

He was good today. The only one doing something, together with Timbo. Got passed a few times but good in possession and made a lot of interceptions.

Cool video. Pogba didn't get anywhere there. Well done to Blind.
Pogba was up 2-0 in a crucial match. He did not need to go anywhere. Blind should be trying to get that ball from him in order to get back in the game, but he got nowhere near the ball.

And potentially let his team down to then 3-0? Don't think that's what defenders should do at that present time; DM's probably yes.

If Blind goes for the ball there Pogba is past him and gone. Blind played that perfectly.

I feel Rojo may take his spot
Nah Darmian will when we play better attackers. He's only in because he's better than Darmian attacking wise.

Don't really see anything wrong in that video.

So you are 2-0 down with 10 minutes to go. You need to get a result in order to have a decent shot at qualification for the World Cup. Basicly, you are telling me that as a defender, you just allow to let time tick away when you opponent is ball hogging in the corner of the pitch, because if you try something it might be possible that he skips by? I have a different view then.

My use of words is not the best, as I do not mean Blind should be trying to get that ball back on his own, which I might have implied in my response. Others should have pitched in sooner or should have coached him that there is cover behind him, allowing him to take some more risk.

But it's nonsense to say that 'Pogba did not get anywhere'. Like I said, he is 2-0 up and is just showboating a bit and won another 20 easy seconds there without being challenged.

If it was France that was 2-0 behind, Pogba would have tried something to get past Blind. Now he simply did not need to and just took it easy.

I do not believe in any way that you will applaude our defenders efforts when we are 1-0 down against City, and for instance Sane is winning crucial time in a manner similar to this.
