Great tackle to prevent a Ronaldo chance a few moments ago.
@serghei - weird we let him out on loan. Everytime I've watched the lad he's done well and in tough games too vs United, Barca and impressive again today vs Real. Curious as to whether he could solve the Delph issue at fullback for City, although he looks better on the right hand side.

Remember when people were saying Real Madrid were going to walk the league and that Barca were doomed?
To be fair Barca have declined in their overall quality which is lesser than madrids.

Keeping that in mind, them being 8 points clear and potentially still the dominant force in La Liga, is both quite incredible and weird. I don't think it's over though. This Barca team are vulnerable and won't keep up their current run of results.

Ronaldo in la Liga

1 goal 1 assist in 6 games

Messi in La Liga

12 goals, 3 assists in 10 games

ronaldo has been very very poor this season
Wasnt he banned for 5 games? Not surprising hes still feeling his way back. That said at 32 hes clearly approaching the final days of his career.

It's not that weird. Barca are still a super team. Them being past their best doesn't mean they can't go and dominate almost all teams bar a select 2-3.

He was still playing the Champions league matches inbetween so he wasnt out of tune physically or something.

In the same amount of games, messi scored 6, assisted 3, ronaldo scored 1 and assisted 1

Yep. Although I think they only have a couple of their players there. Actually not a bad way to bloody players, but Spain have teams for doing just that and it isn't for the use of PL teams.
Theres a few actually getting minutes. As far as I know we have Maffeo, Garcia, Douglas Luiz, and Kayode who are all getting playing time out there plus Moreno who is not featuring as much but I think he wasn't 100% when he arrived.

Happy to see Madrid suffer. Why are they struggling so much this year? Star players getting too old?
Their transfer business was probably one of the worst when compared with all other top european clubs. Selling james and morata was a stupid decision. Zidane's loyalty towards benzema is costing his team big time. Keeping bale was another joke decision. They should have taken advantage of this window by selling bale and benzema and bringing in more quality but what they did was sell morata and james, two young quality players and did not buy any replacements.

Teams usually strenghen after winning. Madrid went and got weaker from last season. That plus a potential drop in motivation and they look rubbish now.

It's fine he'll have 3-5 big games in the important CL games and win POTY.

Think it is the perfect league for them with Pep being City's manager.

If Messi keeps it up, they can still keep winning. Very ordinary side without him and ofcourse Suarez being trash.

I think Messi knows this will happen and hopefully conserves himself until the final third of the season. He needs to lay a smackdown on the league and CL to even win the next ballon'dor (2019) with the world cup looming

Yes, but on the other side, if we can build a +8 lead paying poorly, we should be able to keep it if we increase our playing level.

I think this Barca team has the potential to be better than last year's, and last year they lost the league on the final day to a Madrid team that was much more superior last year than this year's team. I do think Barca aren't as good as their record suggests but I don't think they are even close to maximum capacity. They have so much room for improvement and when playing a proper starting XI they can go toe to toe with anyone.

Barca have room to improve but when they're not playing Roberto at RB and using Semedo they are definitely better than last year. If they're undefeated while playing barely above average and without Dembele that is incredible. Especially with so much room for improvement and one of the world's best defenses.

Madrid inarguably look worse this year.

Pretty sure Pep will end up there at some stage too. I think his career path will take him City>Spain>Girona before he packs it in quite young. Given the political situation maybe City>Catalonia>Girona.

He has 5 goals in 3 matches in the Champions League so that will balance things a bit. Only one assist but he's been involved in goals like today where it won't show up in the numbers.

It's the same as last season and even the season before, he starts slowly but will pick it up at the end of the season. He's not the problem anyway, they've had a bunch of suspensions and he's been playing out of position. He was out for 4 games, Carvajal is injured, Varane, Nacho, Carvajal, Marcelo, Ramos, Benzema, Kovacic, etc. all missed games and every single player bar Isco is playing worse than last season.

Think it might be Spain if they like it or not, there again would Spain now be happy with a Catalan as manager? They have a Basque at the moment.

He has. Completely different to the guy West Ham had.
True.
Valencia is one of the most in-form teams in Europe. Marcelino turned a group of slacking individualists into a well drilled unit. The difference in attitude between this year and the past is hard to overstate.
Valencia has various good players, but put them in a different team and most of them might struggle to replicate their current performance.
Zaza is a deceptively well rounded player. He is quite good with the ball at his foot and his holdup play is key for the team. He probably needs a manager who is telling him en detail what to do, while also trusting him. Otherwise he seems to lose focus.

I don't think they'd mind as long as he's not overly vocal about his political beliefs etc.. Anyway I'm rambling off topic here guess this is more Spain discussion than La Liga.

Liga and CL are as important. It's the two halves of what constitutes domination in club football.
Is it? I'll take 1 CL win over 2 league titles and I'm pretty sure most Madrid fans would too. Especially last season when they were the first to win it twice in a row.

This season the league is already pretty much over, Madrid has never come back from an 8 point deficit in the league and they have tough games coming up.

The league is far from over. If Barca aren't careful, they'll lose points like crazy. They had an even bigger gap in Lucho's 2nd season and almost blew all of it.

CL and national league go hand in hand. You should win both to call yourself the best team in the world.

Incidentally Girona owned by the 'Manchester City Group' or whatever they're called. Think Pep's brother is one of the co owners if i'm not mistaken.
Considering how much money the sheiks are going to pump into the Guardiola family, Guardiola might never leave City.

The good is that Barça are leading even though they haven’t been very good apart from Leo, Umtiti & Mats

Lots of room for improvement but will they get there with a mid table coach & inept board?

Good result for Girona. Madrid can just get fecked. They'll be going hard for Kane next season I reckon. Hope they go after Jesus though. He'd be perfect for them.

? He doesn't really do anything.
It's @FCBarca, he follows teenage Barça fans on twitter and posts their tweets about Cristiano Ronaldo on redcafe to slate him. He'll make up quotes and pretend videos like the above are agressions. Either that or he complains about the refs.

Pretty weird hobby but he's actually cool otherwise.
